-- ELLIOT JOANNA JAMES !
-- NAME: Elliot Joanna James -- NICKNAMES: She goes by Ellie, however will answer to E.j and El -- AGE & BIRTHDAY: seventeen, January 13th -- BIRTH PLACE: Boston -- ORIENTATION: Straight -- OCCUPATION & SCHOOL GRADE: Twelfth Grade -- SECRET: 017. You know you are a bad person, but you can’t stop yourself doing bad things -- PLAYED BY: Amber Heard
-- PERSONALITY !
-- WILD: Elliot has always been the sort of girl who’d strip off and dance around in the rain with only her underwear on, or just jump on a bus to see where it went. Even as a child she was impulsive and reckless, impossible to control and never one to stick to one thing for too long. While it can be a good thing to let yourself go and shake things up every so often, Ellie’s reckless nature either gets her into trouble, or has people convinced she’s completely unhinged. Neither of which bother the young woman to be honest. They are probably right though, jumping off cliff faces into the ocean below is crazy..
-- INSECURE: Many people mistake a confident person for one who is perfectly secure, and has no self esteem issues. This assessment is actually wrong, at least in Ellie’s case. The young woman oozes confidence, and seems like she knows exactly who she is and is content with that, but truth be told? There is so much about herself that Ellie struggles with. While some people can look at themselves and find some redeeming qualities, she looks at herself and sees worthless trash. While she has grown skilled at keeping those thoughts at bay (by keeping herself busy with her wanton lifestyle no doubt), in those dark quiet hours, there’s only so much she can do to hold herself together.
-- DISTANT: While Ellie is almost always surrounded by people, she doesn’t consider many people a friend. The young woman keeps herself detached, emotionally, from those in her life. Careful defences built up around her heart keep anyone from seeing the blackness she thinks is inside her. As skilled as she is at keeping those defences in place, there have been people that have penetrated her walls. When that happens though, instead of relaxing and letting them see her, she runs. Ellie simply cannot handle the raw, naked feeling that swells up inside of her when she thinks someone is getting too close.
-- LOVES: lip gloss, smokes, red lipstick, coconut rum, vanilla coke, banana cream pie, staying out late, eyeliner, fishnets, hair dye, dark nail-polish, scary movies, english -- HATES: babies, maths, being alone in the dark, herself, pink, giggly girls, most girls in general, titles like ‘slut’, her father, organised religion, love
-- HISTORY !
Elliot’s life is a cliché. Rebellious daughter of a Baptist Preacher, getting herself knocked up at the age of sixteen. Yeah, we’ve heard this all before haven’t we? In fact, it makes the girl cringe to think about how completely un-unique she is. There is nothing special about her. Nothing won- Okay, that’s getting off track. As completely tripe as it may be, it is important to know Elliot’s past, in order to understand who she is. Or at least, understand her parents and how she was brought up. There is really nothing to explain the hatred she has for herself. Some people just have a genetic disposition to such things, she supposed.
Born as first and only child to John and Esther, Elliot was raised in a rather conservative Baptist house-hold. Her father was the minister of Boston Bay Baptist Church. Yes ha ha ha, John the Baptist. Pfft, whatever. Thing was, he was a very unforgiving man. To his family at least. As a child this confused Ellie. She’d sit in church each Sunday and see her father preach about forgiveness and unconditional love, yet at home, he had such high expectations of his wife and daughter. He really seemed to take the passages that spoke about the father being the head of the house to heart, and he ruled with an iron fist.
It’s hard to say if all the rules and restrictions caused Ellie to break away, or she always had the compulsion to march to the beat of a different drum, but what was clear from an early age, was that the structure her father expected was just not going work for the child. She’d try to do as he expected, and do as she were told, yet her own impulses and desires would win out. Then not only would she need to endure his lecture and punishment, but her own feelings of guilt and discontent that she couldn’t be a good little girl and make her father proud.
It was sometime after she turned twelve though, that Ellie stopped trying to make him proud, and started to do things to upset and aggravate him. She can remember the moment it switched for her. There had been a family that lived next door, and also attended John’s church. They had a son a few years older then Ellie, and she had quite the crush on him. One day, she decided to try and do something about her crush. She did her hair up all nice, snuck into her mother’s room and put on some make-up, and then put on the shortest dress she owned. Before she could go next door though, her father had come in from the yard, and seen her all dressed up. He’d told her to get herself cleaned up, that she looked like the whore of Babylon, and that no one wanted a whore.
Ellie’s self esteem had already been fragile, but the way her father had so casually called her a whore, something changed for her. She stopped trying to impress her father and started acting not only on her wild impulses, but she seeked things out that would upset him. Like the day she went to church in fishnets, or getting herself expelled from her nice Christian school by proclaiming over the intercom that she worshiped the devil. (Which wasn’t actually true. While her relationship with god was and is rocky, she still believed) It was religion she’d had enough of.
Though John and Esther didn’t actually agree with the Catholic faith, John was at his wits end with the adolescent, he sent her to a rather strict Catholic school, hoping that would straighten her out. Depending on the day, Ellie couldn’t decide if she regretted or cherished the actions that led her to Catholic school. It was at that school she met Liam. The boy who broke through some of her defences, then just as she thought she really might love him, got her pregnant and gave her the reason she needed to push him away. They hadn’t been ‘dating’, not really. She claimed it was convenient, comfort sex. Never the less, they weren’t careful and she ended up completely screwed.. Both literally and metaphorically.
She tried to keep it to herself for as long as she could, but in the end, Liam found out and so did her parents. Without given a choice, plans were made. She carried the baby to full term, then they left. Her father found a spot as the minister of a small town church, and the baby, Sophie, became Ellie’s sister not her child. And Ellie detached herself from the situation, trying her best not to give a damn.
