[atrb=border,1,true][atrb=width,300,true] Meg loved her niece and nephew. They were great. A little obnoxious, the both of them, in their own special ways, but, quite lovable anyway. However, sometimes she just needed to get away. She wasn't used to having two teenagers always in her house. Having kids was never high on her priority list, and when her sister died and left the both of them in her care, there was no way she would say no, but it was still a little weird having them always there, almost everywhere she turned. Theresa was great for fashion advice and Tyler was the best for playing video games with, but Meg could no longer pee with the bathroom door open or dance around like an idiot in her own house in a towel or her underwear after a shower because she would not put videotaping it and putting it on Facebook past either one of them. Plus, Tyler had been really pushing for a dog lately, and that was just what Meg needed now, wasn't it? A dog running around terrorizing her neighbors and taking a crap on her expensive new carpets and chewing on the furniture and having Tyler defend it and make her feel bad about it. Maybe one day, but not today, Megara just couldn't handle it today. So today she was taking the afternoon off, if you will. Avoiding her home after work specifically to go to the beach and take a very nice, very long walk on the sand. It was a little cold for it, probably, but Meg really could care less at the moment, what she needed was a little quiet time, all to herself. So she had gone completely out of her way, with only a short text to Tyler telling him that she was gonna go to the beach for a while, and not to worry about her. She would have texted Theresa as well, but it probably would have been a waste of energy because Theresa probably wouldn't even notice that she wasn't home yet. And Tyler would probably tell her anyway. She wasn't worried. And after texting her nephew, she actually turned her phone off completely, something she hadn't done in almost a year. But she decided she deserved it anyway. She took her shoes off and stuck them in her bag, and wiggled her toes before jogging off toward the sand, slowing down only when she had reached it and the letting out a long and exasperated sigh. Her fingers reached up and pulled her long, curly blonde hair out of it's strict ponytail and she shook her head to loosen the curls so they wouldn't just be hanging there lifelessly. Now this was nice. Relaxing, and calming, just what the doctor ordered. If Megara had the time to go to a doctor, that is. Between her job as an ADA and coming home to two kids, she didn't have much time for anything, much less her own health, mental or physical. Though she had always had doubts about her mental health, after her mom had gotten remarried and Meg had gotten two horrible stepbrothers. That had been a very trying time in her life, until they got divorced. If only her stepbrothers were as mature as their dad, her stepfather, and she would have probably liked them a lot more than she did. And she wouldn't be so torn between loving her visits to George even now, he was the only father figure she'd known and she loved him to death. Even if his sons would be the death of her. Involuntarily, Meg's steps quickened at the thought of her former stepbrothers and her hands clenched to fists a her sides. |
