-- HANNAH FURIA MORRIS !
-- NAME: hannah furia morris -- NICKNAMES: hannah banana, fury, morris, ginger kid, freckles, red -- AGE & BIRTHDAY: 20, Oct 31st -- BIRTH PLACE: creve coeur, missouri -- ORIENTATION: heterosexual -- OCCUPATION & SCHOOL GRADE: junior in college majoring in science, part time employee at Virbranium, pin up girl -- PLAYED BY: emma stone
-- PERSONALITY !
--AWKWARD GOOFBALL: She’s a goof and she’s not afraid to show it anymore. She’s always loved to make people laugh and her awkward, bubbly personality makes it fairly easy to do so. For so long she was told to suppress the dork because no one would like her. However she has more friends now that she’s letting her dork flag fly than she did before. Hannah loves to dance around and do funny voices. Most of all though she loves laughing and her laugh is a bit infectious. Sci fi is her boyfriend and comic books are her best friend, she’d marry Joss Whedon in a heartbeat, etc. Even though she’s a bit of an awkward mess she’s lovely to be around and a great friend if you need a shoulder to cry on, then she’ll try to make you laugh. Hannah is not good with the opposite sex unless they’re her friend. If there’s any possibility of dating them she clams up and starts freaking out and not knowing how to act.
--SECRETIVE/CLOSED BOOK: Hannah is a closed book to a fault. Most of her problems have stemmed from not talking about her feelings and she still has a very hard time opening up to people. She’s very secretive about her past and will not go running around shouting about it like some people. Once in English they were supposed to write about their life as a kind of practice essay, but she knew she was going to have to read it to the class so she fabricated the entire thing. She didn’t even put pageants in because she was afraid people would say she wasn’t pretty enough to do them. Not only will she not talk about her mere feelings, but she won’t talk about her problems. Her mother always told her to suck it up and not cry or complain about anything. Likely that had a large part in encouraging Hannah’s innate nature of not wanting to burden people. Though, it’s a big problem because it can make her put herself in very dark and lonely places.
-- MORBID: When you think you want to be a mortician it’s pretty safe to say your likely at least a bit morbid. Hannah’s humor is fairly morbid as well finding the funny in sad things, such as the fact that an anagram for Funeral is Real Fun. She knows that people are in pain whenever death is involved, but she feels that’s all the more reason to find a reason to laugh about it. Even when she was a little girl, death was just simply interesting to her, even if she didn’t always understand it. In fact that’s probably why. She’s never been afraid of death or dead things, but that doesn’t mean she’s rushing to give up living. She sees her interest in mortuary as a way of helping people in the worst time of their lives, being able to tell loved ones of the deceased that their friend, wife or whatever relationship they had is in good, kind hands. Diseases are also a large interest to her, both of these interests have led her to major in science. Her interest in serial killers prompted her to study psychology as well. This doesn’t mean she’s doom and gloom though, she’s a very lovely bubbly girl – who just has strange interests.
-- LOVES: sci fi, drawing, comic books, science, school, phycology, coffee, ice cream, cats and dogs, mice (animals in general really), biking, dancing, singing at the top of her lungs (knowingly poorly), reading anything and everything, knowledge, the smell of gasoline and skunks, blow pops/lollipops, red lipstick, pin up, almost anything retro. -- HATES: animal cruelty, public bathrooms, ignorance, stupidity, when people say “everyone has a right to an opinion” when they have one, but don’t allow anyone else to have one – just doesn’t make sense, feeling lonely, burnt coffee, grape cold medicine, when café’s don’t have bagels, mushrooms, stickiness tables, how high pitched children’s shrieks can get, how toddlers always seem to smell like rotting milk, every Joss Whedon show getting cancelled!!! ('cept Buffy and Angel)
-- HISTORY !
Hannah Furia Morris was born to Harrison and Beverly Morris; they were a perfectly happy couple at the time and were more than happy to have their little bundle of joy. Beverly was an ex pageant queen which would later spark a large amount of animosity between her and Hannah. As a child Hannah didn’t mind being thrusted into every beauty pageant there was – it was just something she did with her mother. Though Hannah had always been a bubbly child, she was also shy and hated being on stage, she did it to make her mother happy and that was all. Her father happily stayed out of the whole pageant thing, working as a Lawyer at his law firm. Which was quite honestly the only way they could afford her mother’s craving for pageants and Beverly’s craving would grow as Hannah began to win and age. When she wasn’t being judged she was pretty much a normal kid. She grew up with a father who was happy to introduce her to the things he loved, comic books, video games and the wonderful fantastical world of scifi.
The little ginger haired pageant queen was just a big, socially awkward dork on the inside, but was constantly forced to repress that aspect of her personality on stage. Ultimately getting the message “you can’t be yourself or no one will like you”, you see all that crap pageant moms and dads spew about them making their children more outgoing and confident was complete malarkey when it came to poor Hannah. She quite fervently hated pageants – she was shy and that did not fade and became increasingly more self-conscience with every pageant. As you would expect constantly being judged on how beautiful and well put together you are took a toll on the bubbly little girl. Especially when she began to go through her “awkward phase”, she started losing pageants and not even place. To make matters worse she became more depressed because of her plummeting self-esteem which had already been in the toilet and she’d been forced to quit dancing to make more time for pageant preparations.
When your mother’s affection seems to be directly tied to your ability to win a beauty contest you want to do everything you can to win. Though, Hannah had a surprisingly close relationship to her father due to how much he worked, she still desperately wanted her mother’s approval. Hannah began practicing for pageants even more, she ate normally, but exercised like crazy, she became convinced that she was losing because she was too fat and ugly and if she could fix one thing, maybe the other would follow. She exercised so much that she was burning more calories than she was eating, by too much. The girl who once received top grades had plummeted to a D- student, she was failing because of her compulsive exercise, but all her mother saw was she was doing great in pageants. She was constantly depressed, fatigued, and anxiety ridden. To top it all off she couldn’t sleep.
At the end of her freshman year of high school when she passed out during a pageant due to exhaustion from extreme exercise – she was a tiny eighty pounds at five foot four inches. Her father forced her mother to pull her out of pageants completely as they checked her into the hospital, where they found out she had several serious side effects such as muscle atrophy. Thankfully, her Doctors were confident it could be reversed and did everything they could to get her better, including entering her into an impatient facility to help her deal with her compulsions
Her mother found it difficult to be kind to her after her episode; she believed she purposely painted pageants in a bad light to her father. Course this made Hannah’s recovery harder and then it may have been otherwise. Hannah’s exercise habits began to improve, but she found another way of coping with her demons through another self-destructive coping mechanism; self-harming. Basically she’d find anyway to physically hurt herself, the most accessible to her being cutting. Her father found out about it after she purposely slammed her hand in the car door and even though she insisted it was an accident he saw her do it and knew otherwise. Now Hannah is doing better she’s not hurting herself anymore and allows herself to enjoy life and an occasional leisure bike ride. She’s been allowed to exercise again, but she has to watch herself closely and her doctors have suggested she only do things she enjoys rather than forcing herself and encourage her to take up yoga rather than rigorous exercise.
They moved to Capeside Massachusetts for her junior year of high school and she finished off high school with good grades and even became senior class president and president of the newspaper and year book staff. She’s attending Capeside University getting a bachelor’s of science and hopes to go on to mortuary school, but would also be more than happy teaching science. She still sees a therapist, but overall she’s managed to find her way back to being a bubbly wonderful dorky, young lady. To keep herself occupied when she’s not in school she works part time at the comic book store which is one of the loves of her life. Her parents are now divorced and she lives with her father, though she's trying to reach out to her mother still who's unresponsive. She's found herself and with the help of her doctors she's found her happy again. That doesn’t mean the demons are gone though.
