-- ELISE CORALIE DE LA FONTAINE !
-- NAME: Elise Coralie De La Fontaine. -- NICKNAMES: Lise, El. -- AGE & BIRTHDAY: 20, September fifteenth. -- BIRTH PLACE: France. -- ORIENTATION: Heterosexual. -- OCCUPATION & SCHOOL GRADE: College Sophomore. -- PLAYED BY: Astrid Berges-Frisbey.
-- PERSONALITY !
-- BASHFUL: Being very shy and quiet has always sort of hindered Elise from her true potential as an actress, but she can't help it, she's very easily embarrassed and she doesn't like to go out in public because there's always that chance of her mortifying herself. She's terribly timid, doesn't like confrontation, and avoids it, as well as social interaction, as best she possibly can. Elise has always felt more comfortable being someone she isn't, giving her a good explanation for wanting to act. Hiding is one of her favorite pastimes, pathetic as it sounds, if she isn't acting and she isn't in school, she would much rather be at home curled up with a good book or something of the like. Talking to people was never her strong suit, sometimes she just pretends she doesn't speak well enough English just to get away from talkative people.
-- ACTRESS: Elise has wanted to be an actress her entire life. And she is very good at it, as well, to be very honest. Good at acting that she's okay when her whole life is crumbling all around her, good at acting like she wants to be there when she'd rather be anywhere but. She doesn't like to socialize really, at all, but you could never tell by the big smile she puts on her face, unless you were to look very close. Which most people, unfortunately, do not. Honestly, she becomes an entirely different person when she talks about taking the stage, and just bringing the subject up visibly brightens her day. Usually a rather timid and quiet young woman, she can transform into any character you throw at her without hardly any effort, and will take on any role offered her.
-- SKEPTICAL: Elise has never trusted very well. She has been terribly scarred from friendships she'd had back in France, the way people went behind her back and talked about her, and since her distrustful nature has gotten worse, if possible. She never understood how people could do such things to people, but at the same time, she's learned to accept it as what people usually are, manipulative liars who stab other people in the back to get ahead in life. These people spreading lies and bullying her were the main reason the De La Fontaines moved to America. So you could imagine why she's such a cynical young lady, what with her track record.
-- LOVES: Acting, the stage, music, hiding, crisp apple strudel, France, America, snow, moonlight, musicals, chocolate, vanilla, ice cream, french fries, her parents, easy escapes, pineapple upside down cake, cupcakes, fresh fruit, nice people, silence. -- HATES: The people back in France, that feeling you get when you eat too much but you're still a little hungry, people trying to talk to her when clearly she doesn't want to discuss the weather with them, being talked bad about, not having siblings, talking about herself, candy apples, know-it-alls, girls who pretend to be dumb, arrogant men.
-- HISTORY !
Adelaide Giroux and Damian De La Fontaine met in high school, and dated on and off from the ages sixteen and eighteen to twenty three and twenty four, respectively, before they got married. She was a seamstress, he was a carpenter, and though they argued a lot, they often said that that was the reason they stayed together, not being afraid of telling the other what was what. They didn't have very much luck in the children department, and experienced two very painful miscarriages before Elise was born. Elise was their "miracle baby", healthy and beautiful, very quiet and docile. She almost never cried, which was indicative of her future, the same well mannered, usually civilized young lady as she'd been in her childhood.
High school started out okay for Elise, not entirely her favorite thing ever, but she could endure it, at least half of freshman year. But it didn't last long. Elise was always rather small and quiet and mysterious, and when she rejected the most popular guy in school because she honestly just did not find his arrogance attractive, he got angry and began spreading rumors about her, rumors that got her dirty looks from all around, and for the girl who was once invisible, it wasn't very fun. No one would listen to her, no one really seemed to care about what she had to say. It got so bad that Elise would lock herself into her bedroom and cry for hours and refuse to come out, even to eat. She lost so much weight she was almost unrecognizable, and her parents decided that it was high time they get her out of that situation.
Damian quit his job and Adelaide packed their bags and they moved to America when she was just sixteen years old. She was a gaunt figure to be sure, but she filled out sooner or later as she didn't have to worry about other people's looks quite as much. Of course, she did get a few funny looks, but merely because she was the new kid in school, which she could deal with. She much preferred it to the looks before, to be honest. She could avoid them, eventually they forgot about her and she was left alone again, thankfully. She gained a few theatre friends in highschool, people she could withstand because they shared the same viewpoints as she did. She was always a little lonely before them, but it was nice to have people to hang out with if she was feeling down other than her parents.
College has been rather nice to her, as of yet. She loves her drama classes, and not for just the reason her parents think, but the other reason isn't quite something that she is planning on telling them anytime soon because she knows that they will disapprove, and she hates their disapproval, even as she's twenty years old and still living with them. But she's working on it nonetheless.
