-- FUNNY: Its almost impossible to be around Eli for any length of time without laughing, whether its with or at him. And he really doesn't care much which it is, he'll always be the first one to laugh at his own expense. That’s the kind of guy he is. He’s never short of jokes or witty one liners and regards himself as the funniest kid alive, though not everyone would agree. He’s definitely the kind of friend to have around when you need cheering up, because he’ll go out of his way to put a smile back on your face. He’s a firm believer in using humor to diffuse every situation, which usually doesn’t work out so well for him. But it’s the way he’s always dealt with conflict, and it’s a hard habit to break. Though over the years he has learned that sometimes its better just to shut up.

-- HAPHAZARD: Eli is definitely not the most organized of people. Far from it. He prefers to live in the moment and just go with the flow. He’s messy, forgetful, and has little to no time management skills. That he is able to hold down a job is really an achievement in itself, as he hardly makes it anywhere on time. Though its not from lack of trying. He's just easily distracted. It's a wonder that his parents felt secure enough to entrust the care of their precious twins to him after his brother moved onto New York, he’s hardly a shining role model, and can barely look after himself let alone anyone else. Thankfully, both his younger siblings are pretty self reliant by now so he doesn’t have too much worries with them, and if anything most of the time its them looking after him.

-- RECKLESS: Eli is not the kind of son any mother wants to have. While every boy has that inbuilt tendency to do stupid and dangerous things, Eli has always had to take everything to the extreme. Even from a young age you couldn’t leave him unattended for long or he’d be up the nearest tree and trying to jump out, or something similarly as stupid. Having an older brother who was always bigger, stronger and better at everything than him only added to this, as he was always trying to outdo whatever Gabon had just done. He’s the kind of kid who had to just keep pushing it and pushing it until eventually he got hurt, and even then that didn’t always stop him getting up and trying again. You'd think all the cuts, bruises and broken bones would have made him a little more cautious, but it hasnt. At twenty three he still hasnt a lick of self preservation, and it doesnt look like thats going to change anytime soon.

Elijah was born the second child into the summers family, and was the only one out of the four that didn’t fall victim to his parents love of naming their children after their birthplace. Considering he was born at Port Elizabeth, was probably rather fortunate. Who knows what name they would have ended up giving him. However the reason he escaped a name like Kenya or Namibia is actually a little sad, a few weeks before he was due his uncle, Elijah, died in a car crash. The brothers had always been close and it was soon decided they would be naming their second son after him. Of course, he still ended up with the middle name Africa, but it was infinitely better than being named Gabon.

With parents who tripped all around the world to document animals its amazing how few times that Eli has been out of the country. Eli and Gabon were generally left at home when their parents went off on trips, in the care of their grandparents. The idea being so they could have a stable routine, and be able to go to school, have friends, be normal. However, they both found that they ended up missing out on so much of their lives that when the twins came along they decided to take them along. Its no surprise that this obvious favoritism created a bit of tension between the siblings, which, mixed with TJs temper tantrums made for a mostly hostile family dynamic. Eli generally just ignored his younger sisters behavior, and tried his best to keep things between the four of them from getting out of hand. However there were definitely times where even he would lose his cool, which he was often severely reprimanded for whereas the twins would get out of it virtually unpunished. By the time they moved to Capeside things in the Summers household were getting pretty dire, until finally his parents stepped up and started to discipline the twins the way they should of in the first place.

It took a few years but by the time he was sixteen they were finally the happy close knit family that they should have been all along. Like every family they still had their fights, but for the most part they got along really well. Well enough that when his parents decided to move back to Texas, they were able to stay on in Capeside and live together without any problems. Things did get a little chaotic when his older brother decided to move to New York, he was the one who kept everything in order, but eventually they managed to find their rhythm again.
