-- JITTERY: It's possibly the fact that she's totally a caffeine addict, but Claire always seems sort of like she's hyped up on something, she's always bouncing or tapping her fingers, and she can't ever stay still. She is also extremely jumpy and easily scared, and you should never watch a scary movie with her because as soon as the creepy music is playing she curls up into a little ball and peeks through her fingers, and if something pops out of nowhere she screams like nobody's business. You can tell when she's really nervous because she has a very specific, high pitched giggle when she's tense, she giggles at everything; but it's a considerably different giggle when she's worried about something or other.

-- PUSHOVER: Claire has a very hard time saying "no". The closest she usually gets to saying no is when she talks so much about something else that the person who asked her a question totally forgets what they'd asked originally. She is very good at changing the subject. Not very subtle, but she can talk until you entirely forget what she doesn't want you to remember until the conversation is over. Claire loves doing things for people. She hates not being liked by people, and in high school, she was always that nerd that you could get to do all your homework if you asked nicely. And added a "please" in there one way or another. Don't get me wrong, she can be stubborn when she really thinks she needs to be, but most of the time that simple little please just gets her. She's honestly one of the most generous people you'll ever meet, she'd give the shirt off her back to someone in need.

-- UNORTHODOX: Which is basically the nicest way of saying that Claire is just a total weirdo. She is that person on the street that you live on that's just a little too nosy and has just a tad too many pets, and as fun as she is, you never really can get over the sheer amount of animals going in and out her house all day or the fact that she still says things like oopsie daisies and silly head. She is wonderful with children, however, and they usually think she's pretty sweet since she'll let them come and play with all of her pets whenever they want to. She usually leaves her door open for the kids on the block because really, who would want to steal anything from her? She doesn't own anything of value. Even if a thief did come around and try to take something, all they could take was her animals, but they'd be sort of hard to stuff in a bag because a few of her dogs really don't like strangers at all.

-- LOVES: her pets, coffee, any kind of caffeinated drink, people, school, learning, animals, curly hair, silly people, happy endings, handsome men.
-- HATES: being disliked, being taken advantage of, saying no, hurt animals, cars, really fast rapping, not understanding, not being understood, scary movies, running out of popcorn before the movie even begins, having too much popcorn at the end of the movie.

Matthew and Gina King were never the happiest of couples. They were in love at one point, of course, or else they would not have gotten married. But they fought all the time, and everyone knew that it was just a matter of time before they got a divorce. But it wasn't until Claire was fifteen when they finally did split up. If Claire hadn't been expecting it as much as everyone else had been, she would have been heartbroken. But now they had a chance to be happy. Maybe not the happy family she'd always dreamed of, but happy separately. She lived with her mother most of the time, but she would go to her father's on weekends and over Spring Break and such. It wasn't ideal for the young girl, but she made what she could of it and she never complained, either.

Claire Raina King never really fit in anywhere during her childhood. She always seemed to be a little smarter than her classmates, she never ate the paste or the glue and she always took a nap without questioning the teachers when she was supposed to, and one bully at one point was kind enough to bestow upon her the nickname "Claire de Loony." Which stuck through high school, as well. She was grateful enough when it lost it's magic touch in college, but because of her tendency to try and correct everyone in as helpful a manner as she could and try to give people tips and such, she was never treated very nicely in high school. In fact, you could say that they were the worst years of her life. Those and middle school, that is. Even though she gained a few fellow nerdy friends and did homework and was at least on speaking terms with the popular bunch most of the time, she still got teased mercilessly, because let's face it, kids are cruel, she graduated top of her class, securing the valedictorian status for herself.

College years were actually quite soothing for her. No one remembered or cared about her. She could do whatever she wanted. And she did. All her life, she had dreamed of being a veterinarian. Now she had her chance. And now today, she's a very successful one, she has her little house on the end of the street which is stock full of five cats, six dogs, four fish, three birds, and a very colorful pig. And as lonely as she is at times, she really is mostly happy.
