-- MEGARA GRACE HOWELL !
-- NAME: Megara Grace Howell. -- NICKNAMES: Meggie, Megs, Meg. -- AGE & BIRTHDAY: Twenty eight, February 1. -- BIRTH PLACE: Rhode Island. -- ORIENTATION: Heterosexual. -- OCCUPATION & SCHOOL GRADE: Assistant District Attorney. -- PLAYED BY: Arielle Kebbel.
-- PERSONALITY !
-- EFFERVESCENT: Maybe Meggie doesn't always seem like it at first glance, but she is a really bubbly and sweet young lady, very cheerful and animated. She doesn't like to let things bother her, so she just doesn't. She keeps her somewhat depressing work life as separate from her home life as possible. So she tries to stay as vivacious as she can, for the kids' sake. Sometimes her blitheness is actually annoying because she goes about it in an unexpectedly sarcastic way. But she's quite lively and never seems to run out of energy, she's always very alert and seems to pay attention to absolutely everything, but everything she doesn't catch she can usually guess one way or another.
-- GARRULOUS: Megara does have a teeny tiny problem with one thing in particular- rambling. Get her on a subject that she's interested in- whatever it so happens to be- and she'll talk about it for as long as you'll let her. And she will talk about it until she runs out of things to say about it. She honestly doesn't see what's wrong in her spouting random and probably useless facts to whoever will listen, she always thinks that every fact she says is interesting. Though Meg's idea of interesting is far more than what most other people's idea of interesting is. She can talk quite a lot really, when she has a mind to, even if it isn't just a lot of rambling, which her sister's daughter, Theresa, finds excessively annoying. Even though really, Meg doesn't care whether or not she finds her annoying or not- after all, she's her guardian. She can talk about whatever she wants to. But she's not that cruel.
-- COARSE: Another thing that Meggie has a problem in is delicacy. She doesn't really do well with manners, she can do them when she needs to but most of the time she seems very unrefined and unpolished in her manner. She just doesn't consider what other people think about her, she's too busy thinking about what needs to be done. To be frank, she's very blunt and candid, doesn't sugarcoat most things and doesn't see the need to. She can be tasteful when she wants to be. She just doesn't see the point in her everyday life. Why draw things out when she could just get it over with as soon as possible? Which is another reason why she talks so quickly, I suppose, trying to fit as much into a conversation as fast as possible.
-- LOVES: "her" kids, coffee, pigs, google, facts, sports, comedies, school, talking, bringing down bad guys, ripped guys, bad boys, cheesy food, takeout. -- HATES: meat, death, her mother, drinking, sunburns, people who won't let her speak, criminals, sounding really stupid in front of her kids, fire, guns, assumptions.
-- HISTORY !
Megara Grace Howell was the second born of Helen and Joshua Howell, after her older sister Phoebe Hope, who was a good twelve years older than Meg. But she was always a good older sister, always looked out for Meg, even when she was out of the house, because after Joshua's death when she was five, Helen went back to her alcoholism and was definitely that boozy housewife you see in television shows. Phoebe got married as well, when she was twenty one, and Meg was the youngest maid of honor the family had ever seen, but you couldn't pay Phoebe to choose anyone else. Soon after her marriage she gave birth to Theresa, and three years after that was Tyler.
Meg thought that her mother's alcoholism would change when she married George Tanner, when Meg was fifteen, but it never did. The only thing that did change was that Megara now had two extremely annoying stepbrothers and a father again. George wasn't so bad. In fact, Megara adored him. She thought he was basically the coolest person on the face of the planet. His sons, however, she wasn't quite so fond of. Caden and Scott were both annoying as anything. Caden would treat her like a baby and Scott.. Scott would tease her, he'd sneak up behind her and scare the living daylights out of her when she was talking to her friends in school. But his main specialty was ruining all of her chances with any boys she seemed interested in. He'd share embarrassing stories, photos, anything he could get his hands on and her mother had no problem whatsoever in sharing them with him, unfortunately for Meg.
But the worst thing that Scotty ever was- was undeniably attractive. And he was her stepbrother, and it was disgusting, and she hated him all the more for it. She learned to ignore him altogether, but that only made him want to compete for her attention all the more, and up until George and Helen divorced when she was eighteen, she thought she'd never be free of the curse of Caden and Scott. She had thought she would have to fight them out of the open bathroom for the rest of her life, and though she was heartbroken over no longer having George around, she had to admit she was absolutely thrilled to get rid of the other two.
When Megara was twenty, her mother drank herself to an early grave, fell down the subway stairs in the early morning stone drunk and broke her neck. As horrific as it sounded, Meg and Phoebe had been sort of expecting this to happen at any time soon. She hadn't gotten any better, she'd only gotten worse. It was only a matter of time, honestly. But that wasn't the last death in Meg's family, either. Because after Helen, Phoebe and her husband died just a year ago. Whether or not Meg would ever imagine it, they left Theresa and Tyler in her hands, under her custody. Meg never imagined being a caretaker of two kids at all, much less when she was finally getting her life together as the newest ADA. But she'd never turn down her niece and nephew. It's odd, really, having them living with her. They're both very different than what she'd known them to be when she wasn't in their lives so much. But she loves them all the more anyway- being the main reminder of her sister and her last remaining relatives that she knows of.
