Coffee. That was the only thing on Blair’s mind. It had been a late night, and the blonde wasn’t even sure what she had been drinking. That was the problem when you let your friends get you drinks all night- you have no idea what is put in them. Blair was also completely sure that as the night wore on, the drinks got stronger and stronger. That wasn’t exactly the point though. The point was her head was hurting and she needed coffee. She also needed whoever had opened her bedroom curtains to die horribly, because she mid-day sun that was wafting in through the window was the worst thing on the planet. Seriously. She wanted the sun to just burn up, plunging the earth into constant darkness. Trees and shit that needed light be damned. Light was the enemy to a hangover.
Groaning, the blonde squeezed her eyes shut tighter. Her problems could be solved if only she’d get out of bed. She could close the curtains and make herself some coffee and take about four aspirin and life would be rosy again. Thing was, she wasn’t sure if the whole getting up thing was for her. At that point, she was more likely to stay in bed and curse the world than to actually do something to make things better. Effort was a dirty word, and Blair was wishing one of her friends had crashed at her house, that way she could be using them as her own personal slave. Crap. Why hadn’t she thought about that the night before? Because she was too drunk to consider what would happen in the morning most likely. God. She couldn’t win, could she? Sulking, Blair rolled over onto her stomach and buried her head into the pillow, trying to at least block out the sun.
Eventually though, her need for coffee grew too large, and after a short argument with herself, Blair was pulling herself out of bed, and trying to find some clothes to throw on over her underwear. Which, by the way, she was impressed to find that’s what she was sleeping in. At least when she had gotten home she’d managed to strip out of her shoes and dress. Which was better than other times she hadn’t even made it to the bed to fall asleep. One particularly awkward time, she’d woken up on the bathroom floor with her mother standing over her wanting to pee. Finding some denim shorts and a sweater, Blair pulled on the clothes before stumbling her way downstairs into the kitchen. At least the house was relatively quiet, and not too many lights were on. She was assuming her mother was out, and if her sisters were there they were asleep or whatever. Which was good, she didn’t want to deal with people.
Once in the kitchen, Blair filled the kettle and turned it on. Standing for a few moments, she watched it, but then decided that kettle’s took too long and impatiently went to the fridge. She wasn’t even hungry, but she wanted something to do, because in her current state, the few minutes it would take to boil water felt like hours. Blue eyes roamed the shelves, coming to rest on a container clearly labelled with Avia’s name. Gross, did that mean she was home for the weekend? Blair hoped not. Sometimes she just couldn’t stand her sister. Out of spite, she took the container from the fridge. Fully intending to eat whatever was inside if it seemed even a little bit nice. Or maybe she’d just throw it in the bin and pretend she ate it. Either way, it had the same effect.

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Avia didn’t tend to come home very often because she liked to keep her distance from her young sibling but this weekend she was home, mainly because Sam was studying and she was fed up of his moaning. Not being able to play music made Avia grouchy and Avia playing music whilst he was working made Sam grouchy, so either way one of them would lose, for once Avia actually seemed to be putting someone else before her for a change. It was a rare occurrence and another of those was that Avia had stayed in the night before, she’d written music until the early hours of the morning when she heard her younger sister stumble in, obviously quite intoxicated but there was no way Avia was going to get up to help her, one slightly selfless dead was enough to last her a couple of weeks at least. The girl didn’t tend to pay attention to other people, as long as she was getting what she wanted she really didn’t care who was hurt along the way, it was the way she’d always been and it was likely that she’d never change. Sure, there are those people in TV dramas who start off as selfish cows but by the last series they are helping out everyone possible but it was unlikely that Avia would ever end up that way, it was more likely that she’d end up bossing around the other wrinklies in the care home.
The blonde had been diagnosed with diabetes when she was eleven but she still wasn’t that great living with it, luckily for her it was pretty well managed by its self. She didn’t have it very bad but she still managed to moan about it at every opportunity, she managed to deal with it just adjusting what she ate but the problems came when she drank, she had solutions for that too of course. It was all pretty lucky actually because Avia was only ever really scared of one thing, needles, whenever they had to have jabs growing up Avia would scream all the way too the doctors, whilst she was there and all the way back, just the idea of them made the blonde want to curl up into a little ball and cry. Now she hardly ever thought about it, she tested herself once a day which if her mom found out would probably be the last time, Avia’s mom was incredibly protective and if she felt that Avia wasn’t looking after herself she’d probably make Avia move back home and she’d test her about twenty times a day. Moving away from home had actually been very good for the blonde, not fighting with Blair on a daily basis had made life a lot easier and she enjoyed the freedom of being away from her parents, but there was the subject of Sam, but that’s for another time.
She heard the kettle being flicked on and got up from her spot in the living room, placing her laptop down on the coffee table. She really hoped the person in the kitchen wouldn’t be her sister but she was pretty sure her mom was out it was more than likely to be the other blonde Alderidge. Thing was Avia really fancied some tea and if the kettle was already on it meant a little less work for her, though no doubt Blair would use it all to be spiteful. Most people found it rather odd that Avia liked tea, she had to buy it from a special shop because she wanted English tea, she found the American stuff horrible but she felt tea was a lot better than coffee, it stopped her getting so excitable, Avia on coffee was not a good thing. She walked in to find Blair holding a container that was very clearly marked with Avia’s name, the blonde rolled her eyes, “you’re very welcome to eat that but it certainly won’t help you fit into your new dress” she said with dry sarcasm as she sat herself down at the breakfast bar. The item in Blair’s hand was a chocolate concoction her mother had made in case Avia went into hypoglycaemic shock, it was chocolate, melted marshmallows, caramel, glucose and other incredibly unhealthy things, but if Avia’s blood sugar got too low, one sniff of that would probably do the job. Just thinking about the amount of calories in that container made the girl want to be sick, and she wasn’t at all bulimic usually. . seven five seven. image credit to pirate skittles . sister time . anck su namun .

The sound of her sister’s voice made Blair jump just a little. It wasn’t so much that she’d snuck up on her, but more so that Blair wasn’t exactly paying a lot of attention to her surroundings. And who could blame her with the killer headache that was starting to develop. When had her sister’s voice become so freaking loud anyway? That’s what Blair would like to know. It sounded like she was talking right in her ear with a loud-speaker, and considering it was Avia, that was probably very likely. The older blonde would probably do anything if she thought it would annoy Blair to no end. Or at least, that’s how Blair saw it. She was the victim in all of this, and it was Avia who started all the fights in the relationship. Of course the younger blonde would never admit to her own antagonistic behaviour. Never.
Turning towards her sister, Blair screwed up her nose. It didn’t even matter what the older girl had said, Blair was in the habit of turning up her nose. It was honestly the best cause of action whenever Avia spoke. Was Avia trying to call her fat? Blair was having some comprehension trouble, as her sluggish brain was probably still alcohol soaked. It was probably just best to assume that it was indeed an insult and go from there. “Then you definitely shouldn’t eat it sis. In fact, if I looked like that,” here, she darted her eyes up and down Avia in disgust to make her point. “I’d probably just stop eating entirely. Then, you’ve never been one to care about such vain things have you? Who cares if your weight fluctuates so much not even the stretch marks can keep up.” It wasn’t exactly true, but Blair didn’t care.
With the insult handed out so superbly, Blair turned her back on Avia and opened the container. She was actually rather curious to know what it was that was supposedly going to make her balloon up. The site of the sickly sweet concoction made bile rise into her throat. That was just disgusting. Somewhere in the back of her mind it registered that it was probably for her sister’s diabetes, but Blair didn’t care. No one should eat that shit. Shaking her head a little, the younger blonde moved over to the bin. Pressing down on the foot petal to pop the lid, she tossed the container away. Perhaps it was a really spiteful act, but perhaps Blair was in such a mood that she just did not care. Looking up at her sister, she pulled a sweet smile to her lips. “Just looking out for you sweetie, guys don’t dig fatties you know.”
Now that she’d had her fun, Blair kind of just wanted Avia to go away. She knew that wasn’t an option though. Obviously she was about to get reamed for what she had just done, and while she did deserve it, Blair wasn’t prepared to accept the consequences. Closing the bin, the stalked away, back towards the kettle. Now what was she supposed to do? Just stand and wait for the kettle to boil? Screw that. She was too impatient, and besides, maybe if she looked busy enough Avia would just leave? Yeah.. No. Fat chance of that right? Feeling even worse than she had before getting up, Blair sulked her way over to the cupboard where the mugs were kept. Pulling the doors open, she felt her spiteful mood bite once more, so she grabbed her sister’s favourite mug. Ha.

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Blair was usually stuck in her own world and that actually made Avia’s life a bit easier, the two were so self-centered that they actually didn’t really care whether the other was about or not, so they just avoided each other. Of course this didn’t really sit well with their parents but it was better for everyone, it was even worse when you got all three in the same room, they just didn’t act like sisters should. They hadn’t ever really, of course growing up they’d been a lot more civil than they were now but then the rivalry had come into place and the girl’s spoke like they hated each other. There wasn’t really one major moment that had changed everything for them it was just a building of things I guess, the two moody, quick witted were almost too similar to get along though if one of them heard you say that it’d probably be the last thing you ever said. They like to think they are two very different people, and as sisters they actually looked nothing like one another, but they did act very very similar, which meant that their parents blamed themselves for what had happened, how they had managed to raise two bitchy little blondes. Avia came off as the worse sibling, something she wasn’t very happy about especially when she knew something about the younger Alderidge that would shock the family to the core, out of the two she was the better one in her eyes of course.
She listened as her sister talked about Avia’s weight fluctuating but her not caring about her appearance and it just made the blonde laugh, Blair was small and Avia knew that but she also knew that she was a lot skinnier than her younger sister, Blair had that whole ‘curvy’ thing whilst Avia was just a stick. Avia never took people’s digs at her to heart and especially when they were about her weight, because she knew that she was nearer to anorexic than she was obese, and she was sure Blair knew it too. “and look who’s talking, little miss piggy” she said using the name that she had called her sister most of the time they were growing up, Blair was a little bigger than Avia and this had been even more prominent when they were younger, and it was only made worse by Blair’s thick blonde hair, just like miss piggy had. Let’s just say it probably didn’t help solve any problems that Avia and Blair were having. She didn’t really feel any need to say any more on the subject, Blair seemed pretty chuffed with her rude remark but it didn’t phase Avia one bit, she only cared if a guy said something bad about the way she looked, when it was her sister it almost seemed more like a compliment, Avia believed her sister only did it because she was jealous, which is no surprise given that Avia considered herself the prettiest Alderdige.
The blonde watched her though it in the bin and she really couldn’t care less, she was only here minimal days of the year and there was no way she would eat that stuff unless she was unconscious, which is actually when she’d need it ironically. She watched as her sister took her favourite mug and she moved swiftly around her sister to take the mug and put a tea bag in it before it could be reclaimed. She knew Blair only wanted it because it was Avia’s favourite; it fit Avia’s hand perfectly but was unlikely to be the same for Blair. Just as she was standing there the kettle finished boiling and Avia was the first at it to poor water into her mug and she took it so she could sit down whilst it brewed, she actually adored tea. There was enough water in the kettle left for Blair to have her coffee which was pretty lucky otherwise Avia would have to deal with the wrath of the baby Alderidge and she really didn’t fancy that today, she just wanted her tea. She wasn’t really sure where her obsession with tea had started, it just kind of stemmed from her first mug that she’d been given from an English friend. It was so much nicer than coffee, though most people complained that it tasted of dirty dishwasher, sure it kind of looked like it but it tasted like tea to her. . seven four seven. image credit to pirate skittles . sister time . anck su namun .

It just was not Blair’s day was it? She was hoping that her sister would care, even just the tiniest bit, that she had thrown out her food. At least then Blair would have some sort of satisfaction. But no. Her sister didn’t give a rat’s ass. Did Avia care about anything? Blair was really starting to wonder about that. In Blair’s eyes, Avia was heartless, who probably wouldn’t even cry if their childhood cat died. It might not have actually been true, but the older Alderidge had never shown Blair even a little compassion, so why would she show some to anything or anyone else? Did she even have any friends? Blair wasn’t sure that she did. If she had them, wouldn’t she be out with said friends instead of here? Making Blair’s hangover worse? Seriously, Avia was home way too often for a person that had friends. Although, according to Blair, being home at all was far too much for Avia.
God dammit! Blair almost swore when Avia took her mug back. Couldn’t she get angry? Throw a hissy fit? Anything? Just something to feed into Blair’s bad mood and make her feel mildly better. Did she not deserve that? Even just a little? It occurred to Blair that perhaps it was a little twisted that her happiness was linked to upsetting her sister, but whatever. It was what it was, and they were both so set in the hate cycle that it seemed impossible to change things between them now. Like, even if she wanted a better relationship with her sister, Blair wouldn’t even know where to start. Avia would have a stroke if Blair just started being nice to her. Or she’d assume her little sister was up to something. Either way it wasn’t going to work. The whole, have a heartfelt conversation thing wasn’t an option either. To be honest, Blair wouldn’t know how to relate to her sister on a personal level.
Sighing, She reached up to get a new mug. As she placed it down on the bench so she could close the cupboard, she felt her phone buzz. Groaning in frustration, she reached into her pocked and pulled out the touch screen device. A new IM from Liam. Well, that was certainly a mood lifter. Trying to hide her grin from her sister, Blair quickly typed back a reply. God. He could make her day by just saying hello. It was dangerous actually, how attached she was to this guy. He could actually really break her if he wanted, or if things ended badly with them. She just.. couldn’t bring herself to think it would end badly though, or that he would ever hurt her. It didn’t matter that she’d never met him. She just knew, in her heart or whatever, that what they had was real. She knew no one else would understand that though.
Slipping her phone back into her pocket, Blair set about making her coffee. While she was no longer as sour as she had been, she still felt as though she needed to give her sister a hard time. “Don’t you have some villagers to scare or something?” She asked, her tone faux curious, as if she was actually concerned or at least interested in her sister’s plans. Really though, unless they involved buggering off, Blair didn’t care much at all.

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Avia wasn’t in the mood to play silly games with her sister, she had a piece of work that needed to be in on Monday and it was taking over all her headspace, so her sister’s annoying antics weren’t working on the older blonde. Usually Avia was just as petty and childish as Blair but recently she’d started to reconsider things, pity Blair hadn’t had such a moment. Avia wasn’t a very emotional person that was true but there were some things that got to her, and seeing Sam sad and upset actually did affect her and she hated it. Avia put up walls because it just seemed easier that way, and it seemed to be a trait that ran in the Alderidge family. Avia didn’t really do compassion; even if she felt it inside herself she didn’t let anyone know about it, it was easier for people to think she had a heart of stone. Emotions stayed inside Avia, she didn’t want to feel raw or open, it left her feeling vulnerable and that was not a feeling that worked well on Avia. She had always stood on her own feet, sure she’d had her share of boyfriends but she’d never really relied on them, they were just there to make her feel pretty and to be a bit of eyecandy on her arm. The blonde had never really had anyone that she told things to, she just put them on paper, either into songs, poems or just diary entries, music was her best friend, it solved every problem.
The truth was that Avia found it more fun not to react to Blair, because she knew that that was what Blair wanted and it was funny to see her squirm. She finished her tea, and waited for it to cool down before she could drink it. Avia knew she couldn’t just start being nice to everyone, she’d created a reputation for herself and now there was no going back. People didn’t really believe you if you just changed who you were, even if you’ve always been that person inside. It seemed as if people didn’t want to expect the best out of you, they just wanted to be right, if they thought you were a bitch then they would want you to live up to that title rather than turning around and being a sweet-heart. It was as if Avia was stuck in a character that she couldn’t escape from but she felt she was growing out of it, however it looked like she was going to be stuck in this role until she could escape the town, and then maybe she’d have the chance to reinvent herself. Of course she wasn’t going to turn around and be a push-over, the strong independent part of her would always be there, but maybe she could let people in a little more.
She listened to her sister make a smart remark about villagers and Avia wasn’t really sure what the girl meant by it but all she could think of was Beauty and the Beast, she was sure they were referred to as villagers in that. “nah, I’m having a day off” she replied with a fake smile as she sipped her tea. She pretended not to notice the smile her sister acquired when she looked at her phone but Avia made a mental note of it, she decided not to bring it up because she didn’t really want to argue, she didn’t have the energy and with the mood Blair was in at the moment it was likely she’d be the one who’d win. Avia had planned to go back to College in a bit but now she knew how much Blair wanted her gone Avia decided to stay a little longer, “so you’ve got the joy of my company all day” she said with fake excitement in her voice, knowing that her sister would be dreading it. The older blonde continued to sip her tea as she waited to hear from Blair, though it was unlikely the girl would give her any useful information. Avia kind of wished that she had a proper sister relationship, not that she really knew what one of those were but she was sure it’d be easier than what she had with Blair. . seven one nine . image credit to pirate skittles . sister time . anck su namun .

Stuck with her all day? Blair groaned at that. She did not have the freaken patience for this all day. She also couldn’t just leave Avia alone. She’d already started up a standard of how the day was going to go; an endless supply of jibs at her sister. She couldn’t just stop now and give her sister a free pass now could she? That would be a sign of weakness, and Blair just wasn’t that nice. If she stopped now, Avia would think Blair was giving up. Which she kind of wanted to do because she just did not have the energy. Glaring at Avia, she opened the fridge to get out the milk. This was all her sister’s fault. If she’d just freaking leave, Blair wouldn’t have to be putting any effort in at all. Stupid Avia.. Ruining everything.
Filling her mug the rest of the way up with Milk, she continued sulking. Any happiness she had been feeling the moment before was draining fast, and she was perfectly content to blame her sister. Returning the milk to the fridge, Blair looked her sister up and down. “If you’ve got the day off, then why are you still wearing your ogre costume? Oh! Sorry! I forgot, that’s just how you look.” Grinning at the burn, Blair got out a spoon and mixed he coffee before bringing it up to her lips to taste. Arg! Bitter! She’d forgotten sugar. “Look at that, your ugly face made me forget sugar.” Sighing, the younger blonde opened the cupboard and took out the sugar. Dumping in three spoonfuls. What? She needed sweetening up. Re-mixing the caffeinated drink, she sipped it again. Hmm, that was better wasn’t it? Maybe today wouldn’t be so bad? I mean, she was already feeling better after having some coffee. Still though, she wished her sister would just bugger off.
Blair was about to take another drink when she felt her pocket buzz again. A grin tugged on her features. It was probably another IM. Putting her mug down, Blair slipped her phone from her pocket. Seeing who it really was though, caused Blair to curse inwardly. Shit. It was... him.. and he wanted to come over. Biting her lip, Blair hurriedly sent off a reply. ‘A is here, you can’t be here right now’. Hoping that was enough to deter him, Blair glanced over at her sister, trying not to look sus as she slipped her phone into her pocket once more. God, this whole freaking situation was a mess. Here she was, texting her oldest sister’s boyfriend while her other sister was standing right there. Irony was a bitch wasn’t it?

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are The truth was that Avia found her sister’s jibes laughable, they were something that a four year old could come up with and it led Avia to the conclusion that Blair lacked any cunning that might be in her DNA, she was trying to be too hard to be a bitch that she was failing miserably, she was like one of those sad girls from a 90s film. Avia imagined that Blair saw herself as the Regina George while in reality she was the Gretchen Weiner, in fact she probably wasn’t even her, if she was lucky she was the Karen. Avia liked to be a little more subtle, she took people down in a way that wasn’t childish or argumentative, she just won, she liked to make people think that they were nothing compared to her and she found it relatively easy. Winding people up was her speciality and usually she did this by saying certain things but with Blair it was the exact opposite, it was like that saying your parents used to say to you growing up ‘don’t respond, it’s just what they want’ and so Avia didn’t respond and it was true, all Blair wanted was for Avia to fight back but it was far more fun to watch her squirm.
She rolled her eyes as Blair made some sort of jibe about Avia being ugly, it was boring and she was so over it, she found it hilarious that her sister was happy with that remark, it was like being back in middle school. She smiled though as she watched Blair recoil at the sugarless drink, she watched her drop three spoonfuls of sugar in and it just made her smile more, it seemed it was the youngest daughter that needed to be more careful about what she ate. The sugar reminded Avia and she pulled a little device out of her pocket, pricking her finger and putting the blood on it until it gave a reading of her blood sugar, she was just the right level which was brilliant. She put it on the side to sort out later and washed her hands in the sink. The whole process no longer bothered Avia at all and she’d forgotten how Blair cared about it but she hoped it bothered her, she liked seeing Blair squirm and there was no way that Blair could blame Avia for this, it was a medical necessity.
Avia watched Blair look at her phone again but this time her face wasn’t quite so calm and Avia got a bad feeling, she knew something that she wasn’t supposed to know and she didn’t really know how to deal with it. Avia hated her oldest sister’s boyfriend, she had from the day she’d met him, probably because he’d hit on her from the word go. Sure the Alderidge’s weren’t very close and Avia had a thing for stealing other people’s boyfriends but her sister’s guys were a no go for her, it was creepy that the guy would want two sisters and Avia couldn’t do that to her family, blood was thicker than water right. Avia drank her tea and headed to the living room which was just off the kitchen, sitting down at the piano and beginning to play, she hoped that Blair would head off to her room to do something but she had a feeling that she wasn’t about to get away with it that easily. . five seven seven . image credit to pirate skittles . this is horrible . anck su namun .
