Luke couldn’t remember if he had planned on doing anything specific on his day off. He really hoped there wasn’t something important that couldn’t wait another week to get done, like paying some bills or buying milk, because as soon as the sun came up and he was allowed to leave the police station, he would spend the following twenty hours asleep. Anything besides nursing a hangover and the newly acquired cuts and bruises would have to be pushed back to the following week. That is if the following week he didn’t make the brilliant choice to go out and get hammered again. Luke would hardly call it a choice, though. It seemed to just happen on its own, without much of an effort on his part. For the time being, and while he could not yet feel the pain that both his face and torso were getting ready for, he watched as his cell mate was guided back in –less ungently than Luke had been, for the record; although that may have been the cop avoiding being accused of police brutality for manhandling a man who may or may not be bleeding internally. Maybe it only had to do with the fact that Wesley could actually walk in a straight line and on his own.
Still leaning his head back against the wall, Luke closed his eyes again. He felt the need to asseverate just one last time to the room in particular that his cellmate was an idiot. Except he was just too tired to speak anymore. His eyelids would remain inexorably shut, even if his brain refused to shut off completely, until the clanking of keys was at their door once again and a dull grave voice spoke.
“Miss… Mimi Riter is here,” it said.
Luke began to think he had not sobered up at all in the last hour. Had he called her? He didn’t think he had. Maybe he had managed to dial the number successfully after all and had a whole conversation of which every bit was now erased from his memory. Well, that was pretty fucked up. But what other explanation could there be? Ugh, confusion only aggravated his headache.
“Did I… did I call her?” Ugh, so did talking.
((they can switch hats and mess with her))

It was like Christmas.
Okay, it was probably weird to compare getting the opportunity to bail your Cowboy-bed-buddy out of jail to opening up presents under a freaking tree, but she was. She was lucky she answered the phone to begin with. She’d been pretty engrossed in what she was doing when Wesley called- her own little version of ‘wine tasting’. Which, really, had just given her an excuse to buy more than one type of wine at a time and drink copious amounts at home. But of course she intended to follow through with it, and was just about to compare/contrast the various types when her cell phone had buzzed. She absentmindedly answered it and… Well.
Hallelujah.
Mimi drove as quickly down to the precinct as she possibly could without getting arrested (although talk about irony, right?) and parked, a smirk on her face as she went inside. After conversing with an officer, she was taken back to the cells. Immediately, her gaze landed on the cowboy, and her delight heightened. Really. She was like a kid on Christmas morning. This would give her so many opportunities to mock him and new material to tease him with. Also a solid opportunity to dress up as a police woman next time she felt like heightening their sexual adventures.
Another familiar voice drew her attention and her eyebrows raised, gaze sliding down to… Oh. Oh. She was five and she’d just gotten a brand new bike. No way. Luke? Luke and Wesley. In jail. This was too good. Mimi slapped the officer’s hand away when he tried to unlock the cell door, ignoring the look he was giving her. ”No. I wanna keep ‘em in there for a little bit longer. Talk to them, you know. Keep it locked. But stay, you’re pretty, too. If this goes the way I want it to then you can complete the whole uniform thing. I’ve never had three guys at a time before, but I can only imagine.”
She shifted, sliding her arms through the bars and wrapping them around, beaming at them both. ”Cowboy. Doc. What did I tell you boys about taking off your pants in public? I know you want to know who’s bigger but really, you could’ve just asked me.” She never kept it a secret that she had multiple sexual partners (and hey, her only two were sitting right in front of her) so she didn’t feel like it was awkward to reveal that little fact. ”Or were you fighting over me? That’s sweet, guys. So sweet. But I promise I shave my legs just as much for you both. No special treatment.”
This was just… Perfect.

By the time Wesley had been brought back to the cell and rejoined Luke, he was ready to die. Not literally, perhaps, but sleep definitely sounded like a good thing. The only problem was that Mimi would be there soon and he wasn’t expecting her to exactly be the comforting nurse type. Not that he necessarily minded—she was about the only person he knew in Capeside, so he’d take what he could get. It’d be an interesting night, to say the least; especially seeing as how it’d started off so… normal. Getting yourself thrown in jail was normal, right? Resuming his position on the floor; straight backed and unmoving, he closed his eyes and did his best to doze off. Unfortunately, concrete floor didn’t make the nicest of beds, even if it made some of the pain subside. He wasn’t expecting much sleep, but the idea of rest sounded good to him. He hadn’t had all that much to drink—certainly nowhere near as much as Luke, but he was still feeling a little out of it. Whether that was due to the alcohol or the fact that he was sitting in a jail cell with pain running the entire length of his torso he wasn’t sure. It really didn’t matter all that much to him. All that mattered was that soon, he’d be with Mimi and hopefully not long after, he’d be sleeping. One could hope, at least.
Of course, as the door opened and Mimi was escorted in, it seemed she wasn’t so eager to get out of there. In fact, she told the officer to leave them sit and then made herself comfortable. Opening his eyes a bit, he let out a small sigh as he pushed himself up to a sitting position. Doing that only served to aggravate his wounds even more, but he was too focused on what Mimi was going to say to notice that.
Needless to say, he was confused. Did she know Luke? Apparently so, because he thought he’d called her. Then she was talking about dicks and shaving legs and he was even more lost. Furrowing his brow a bit, he glanced for a moment from where Luke sat then back to Mimi. “Gonna guess you know him…?” Not that it was all that unlikely, right? Wesley was the one that was new to Capeside, not these people. But, at the same time, it seemed strange that he’d be stuck in jail with another partner of the woman he was sleeping with.

Looking from Wesley to Mimi, Luke almost got dizzy. He had only registered about a third of everything she had just said as she had the ability to talk much faster and much more than Luke was capable of processing at the moment. He refrained from posing the question, the answer all too obvious from what little he had been able to absorb. Instead, Luke rubbed his face with both hands and muttered an irritated, “Wow…” in disbelief. There was still a debate going on inside his head about whether this was all just something to laugh about under the circumstances or whether he should find a way to steal one the many guns in the precincts and shoot himself. Aside from the utter lack of respect people held for the one seat rule, there was one other thing Luke absolutely despised about small towns. And here it was. Both sitting close by looking sick and launching delighted on the other side of the metal bars. The cop standing next to Mimi looked almost as confused and exasperated as Luke felt, but also intrigued enough that he didn’t make a second attempt to unlock the gate just yet.
Then, one side of the internal debate gained momentum and Luke started laughing. More than anything to himself at first, but then his shoulders shook slightly with silent laughter. He had reached that point of the evening where he was too tired to care. It was also ironic to him that had he started off the evening with a similar attitude, he wouldn’t be in a cell.
“Really, Mimi?” He began, for some strange reason taking the bait and addressing the least important issue of the night. “Is it a Southern thing? ‘Cause… you don’t want Ashley Wilkes. You want Clark fucking Gable. Also… if he lives up to his stereotype, he’s responsible for this economy,” whispered Luke, “Think about that, Mimi,” he finished with a small snort. Then, rather ungracefully, he proceeded to get onto his feet struggling, but finding balance in the wall behind him as he continued, “Now. If you don’t mind… I need to prescribe some vicodin for this jackass… and remember where I live…”
