[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,300] TAGGED FOR ASHLEY AS DANIELLA | HOPE IT'S OKAY, I KIND OF SUCK AT STARTER POSTS XD<3
The fact that Pete had decided to move to Capeside with his best friend because they were going to open up a restaurant together was already a strange thought for him. The fact that, just a little over a decade ago, the thought of owning a restaurant would be extremely ridiculous, he was going to be a football player and that was that, nothing could stop it. Until, of course, his knee got completely obliterated in an accident, and then his entire life sort of just deteriorated in front of him, but he somehow eventually managed to pull himself together and go to New York for a degree in business, which was where he had met Dani. He didn't even know how it happened, but one way or another, they became best friends and now, here he was. Of course, another reason for his sudden appearance in Capeside was because he knew his little sister lived there, with her daughter, and he had never really been around for his niece, which felt awful, so he figured it would be a good idea anyway. It all just somehow fit together perfectly, like the pieces of a puzzle, which was great.
It wasn't perfect, obviously, nothing was quite what he always pictured it would be, he wasn't a millionaire superstar with a hot woman, he was still just making a living like any other person, he was single, and he walked with a limp, but at least he was happy, most of the time, anyway. He and Daniella were sharing an apartment, which was where he was now, hunching over and examining the contents of their fridge. Which, to be sadly honest, was not much. "DANI. DAAANNNII." He screeched, as he closed the door to the refrigerator, turning around. "HOW DOES PIZZA SOUND TO YOU? I'M HUNGRY." Of course, PJ was always hungry, but it was around dinner time anyway, so it wasn't like it was a ridiculous request or anything. He didn't want to take advantage of her cooking skills unless it was her idea, so he didn't suggest it. Plus, she might try to make him help her make whatever she wanted to make, and that did not sound like fun to him.
A movie night with pizza, now that was what sounded like fun to Pete. Though it was possible they would end up disagreeing on movie choice or pizza toppings, but PJ was the kind of guy who let the lady have her choice in the end anyway, so it was nothing to worry about, at least not to Daniella, anyway. He didn't wait long for her answer before he went off in search to see if they actually had any pizza coupons, which he was not altogether sure where Dani would put them. Unless he'd had them.. then he didn't know where exactly he would put them either. But either way, it didn't really matter to Pete. |

Daniella never really thought she’d be living in Capeside with a man that wasn’t Matthew.
Of course, she and Peter were purely platonic. There was no doubt about that. She recognized that he was a good looking man and probably very good in bed, but she never really saw the two of them… Together. Which was probably beneficial, considering she was fairly certain he had the same views. They fit together well as friends. Whenever she needed a date somewhere, to some stupid function, he was the first person she’d call. It was the perfect situation. There was no obligation to go out and find some guy she didn’t really even care about, and fear that she would be expected to put out later that night. No. With her best friend, all she had to do was feed him and they were all set.
She figured people would talk about it. Make speculation. Considering the way she’d left town before, and her previous relationship with Matt, moving back to Capeside with a man and opening a restaurant was certainly going to draw attention to herself. Dani hated the very idea that rumors were going to fly because of it. Although she wasn’t sure what she was supposed to think about Matt, she knew she didn’t really want him to think she was involved with anyone else. Was he involved with anyone else? Oh, probably. It had been years. She didn’t expect him to pine, as she had. Still, though, she didn’t like that she knew how people were going to jump to conclusions. It was obnoxious.
But for now, Dani wasn’t really considering any of those possible rumors. She just wanted a calm night in.
She was sitting on her bed, filling out paperwork for a potential supplier, when she heard his voice from the kitchen. Simply rolling her eyes, she hopped to her feet and strolled out to the kitchen, arms folded across her chest as she leaned back against the counter. ”The fact that you live with a chef and still want to order out for pizza astonishes me,” she said with a slight shake of her head, ”I mean, really. I’m a pretty damn good chef. You are ridiculous.” Arguing no further (because in all honesty, she didn’t feel like cooking, anyways), Dani grabbed her cell phone off of the counter before hoisting herself up on it, crossing her ankles.
Considering she still knew the number of her favorite local pizza parlor by heart (after ordering out so many times in High School- some things just stuck), she dialed it in before looking back up at him. ”What do you want on it? And if you say anything other than pepperoni, I may just have to kill you. Make your decision wisely.” Doing her best to imitate a stern expression, she began to hum the Jeopardy theme song while she waited, cocking an eyebrow.
ooc. ugh, this wasn't that great of a post, I APOLOGIZE.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,300] TAGGED FOR ASHLEY AS DANIELLA | NONONO I LOVED IT!<3
To be completely honest, PJ hadn't even considered how many rumors would be flying around when he moved in with Daniella. Because, frankly, even the thought of someone assuming that the two of them were anything other than the best of friends, was slightly hilarious to Peter. Of course, he had realized ages ago that Dani was drop dead gorgeous, he wasn't denying that, but he had never even considered her in any way other than his best friend. And even if he had, she was probably way out of his league anyway. But the fact was this: when faced with any sort of rumor of the two of them being anything but the platonic, amazing best friends that they were, Pete was likely to laugh uproariously at it. Still, Dani was not as amused by it as he was, she had grown up here, after all, these were her friends and family and maybe even foes they were talking about, here, so he attempted to hide his amusement. She could smack him pretty hard when she wanted to.
He didn't have to wait long before she joined him in the kitchen, beginning straightaway with what a good chef she was and how ridiculous he was for wanting to buy pizza instead, which, of course, did not bother him at all, he was quite proud of his ridiculousness. "Yeah, maybe. But you know, usually, you don't have to wait as long when you just order it." He grinned cheekily, hopping up on the counter she was leaning on, leaning forward and watching her fingers as she dialed the number, attempting (and failing) to remember the numbers she pressed so he'd be able to use them if for whatever reason she was out and he was hungry. At first he was a little surprised that she just knew the number, but duh, it registered as she looked over at him, right, of course she would know it by heart, she lived here. He probably should have asked her first before making a mess of that drawer.. she'd find out about that later, though, no need to tell her right away, not when she was the hand controlling the phone which made the food come, thank you very much.
She asked him what toppings he wanted, and began to hum the theme from Jeopardy. "Anything other than pepperoni." He said, sticking his tongue out playfully. Okay. She had totally been asking for that one, right? It wasn't just him? - And then he chuckled, shaking his head. "Dani, I don't care what you put on the thing, you know I'm not picky and I will eat it, whatever you choose." He told her, mimicking her stern expression, though his didn't last quite so long and he grinned widely soon enough. |

Ella rolled her eyes, glaring up at Peter. “You, Sir, are quite skilled at making me shake my head,” she said, perhaps a bit disjointedly, sticking her tongue out at him as a follow-up. “I don’t understand why you men are always so impatient. Especially when food is involved. Christ.” She lightly backhanded his leg. She enjoyed the lighthearted banter she always had going with Peter- it was a big reason as to why he was her best friend. He made her laugh. It was as simple as that. She didn’t have to worry about stupid shit with him- she could laugh with him, and confide in him. She was really glad when he agreed to open up a restaurant with her, and even more excited when he agreed they could do it in Capeside. She’d always wanted to return, there was no doubt about that, but she didn’t think she’d be able to tackle Capeside- or Matt- all on her own. It would make her emotional and she needed the support of someone she could trust. He was the only person she didn’t meet in Capeside who knew absolutely everything about her.
Once she was seated next to him, Dani nodded. “Pepperoni it is,” she murmured, heart pounding as she hit the ‘call button’, counting the number of rings before someone picked up. To her relief, it was a bored-sounding teenager. Of course that’s who would pick up the phone. Silly. After placing the order (a medium pepperoni pizza and a side order of cheese sticks, please and thank you), she hung up the phone and set it off to the side, crinkling her nose.
”Is it stupid that every time I go somewhere, or call a pizza place, I’m always afraid I’m going to hear Matt’s voice?” Dani asked, crinkling her nose. ”It’s stupid, isn’t it? Ugh.” Of course it was. Dumb question to ask. It was like… His presence was everywhere in Capeside despite the fact that she hadn’t even see him yet. Hell, she wasn’t even sure if he was still around. She assumed he would be, but she had absolutely no way of knowing. And even if he was, she was relatively certain he wouldn’t want to see her. Hell, if she were him, she wouldn’t want to see herself, either. It wasn’t as though her decision to leave was made lightly, but she also knew it upset a lot of people in the process. Maybe it made her into a bad person. Maybe he hated her now. Maybe he didn’t care anymore. She didn’t expect him to be pining over her. In fact, that was the last thing she expected. But beyond that? She wasn’t sure.
Dani wished she could talk to him again. See him. But the idea frightened her; she didn’t want him to erupt on her, despite the fact that she was pretty sure she deserved to be yelled at.
No matter.
Hoisting herself up onto the counter next to him, she elbowed his side lightly. ”Do we have wine? Tell me we have wine, still. We have to eat our pizza with wine to stay classy.”

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,300] TAGGED FOR ASHLEY AS DANIELLA | NONONO I LOVED IT!<3
Peter's smile only got more cheshire-eque as Daniella shook her head and glared at him. "My sole purpose in life, if you hadn't noticed already," He told her very seriously. "And it's because we're hungry. It's really, quite simple, my dear." He nudged her with his shoulder as she gently hit his leg. There was rarely a very serious moment between the two best friends. It was nearly always like this with the two of them. PJ was uncharacteristically silent as Dani ordered the pizza, swinging his good leg back and forth and twiddling his thumbs, allowing her to order the pizza without any hinderance, just this one time.
As she ordered, he thought. About nothing really. Just wondering when he'd get around to seeing his little siblings who were all mostly living with Aimee anyway. One visit to her place and there was a possibility would be literally swamped in Evans kids. Them and his little niece, who he really needed to be around more. Really, the last thing he wanted was for her to forget her Uncle Petey. That would probably be the most heartbreaking thing, ever, to be honest. He'd always wanted to be an uncle.. he'd hoped his little sister would be married by the time he was an uncle, but he wasn't complaining, he loved her no matter what anyway, no point in trying to drive a wedge in between his morals and his family, family would always win out in the end.
Peter looked back up again as she hung up and began talking to him again, and he smiled softly at his friend, shaking his head. "Yeah, it is stupid." PJ said gently, and paused. "But understandable. And probably, not uncommon, either." His soft smile grew a little, feeling like he sounded like a doctor or something. But he just shook his head again. "Don't worry about it, kid. My guess is it'll pass soon enough. Probably after you actually talk to him again.. If not, you're probably screwed, or mental." He chuckled, knowing that would probably provoke some kind of physical attack but really not caring anyway. "Kidding, of course. We both already know you're mental." This time he actually flinched away, just in case, laughing to himself.
He was awful, and he knew it. But it was all in good fun, so it didn't matter that much anyway. Pete was that kind of guy who knew how far he could push you before you snapped at him. How, he wasn't sure. He just knew what made people tick. He just got a feeling for people, right off the bat, he got them. Sure, he got things wrong, Pete wasn't psychic, but he was pretty close, it seemed sometimes. He was just a good guesser, was what he always said. Most people were just.. rather transparent, for Pete. Maybe he just paid better attention than most people, though.
He scooted over a little as she hoisted herself up on the counter beside him and elbowed him. "Oh, no, I guzzled down all the wine we had while you were out, like the raging alcoholic you know and love so very much." He then made a face at her, raising his eyebrows. "Of course we still have wine, because we are, quite obviously, the absolute epitome of class." Sarcasm, yet again, was a must, a necessity, if you will, in Peter's every-day-every-sentence life.

Daniella rolled her eyes at him, yet again. It seemed like she was always doing that when around Peter, despite the fact that she should be used to him by now. Really. For as long as they had been friends, she could pretty much predict what was going to come out of his mouth at any given moment. She figured it was the same the other way around, too. They kind of just fit in every way, with the way they bantered. It didn’t make him any less ridiculous, though. She almost had the habit of rolling her eyes or shaking her head presumptuously at him. ”Your sole purpose in life is to be the bane of my existence, I swear. It was like you were put on Earth just to be a royal pain in my ass.” Not that she really believed that, though. She did love the guy- in a purely platonic fashion- but it didn’t stop her from pretending he was nothing but an annoyance. She knew he knew she was joking. Most of the time. Probably.
Furrowing her brow as Peter began to talk about how her feelings were stupid, and she made a fist, giving him a relatively healthy punch to the arm. ”You’re not supposed to tell me that!” she complained, pretending the whole thing was much more dramatic than it really was, ”What kind of best friend are you!? That’s a terrible thing to tell me. You’re supposed to tell me I’m not crazy and that everything’s going to be fine and Matt still loves the hell out of me because I’m a remarkable woman and he would be crazy not to spend his every waking moment thinking of me, and he isn’t mad at me one bit. That’s what you’re supposed to say, you jackass.” Of course, that would be a ridiculous thing for him to actually say, considering none of it was probably at all true. But hey, fishing for a few words of reassurance wouldn’t kill her, certainly. Still, she punched his arm a second time, not quite as hard this go-around, and shot him a playful (sort of) glare. Really. Men.
But really, Dani liked that she could joke around with him like this. She enjoyed knowing that she didn’t have to hide at all around him because he could be just as stupid as she was. It was nice to have someone like that in her life.
When he confirmed that they did, indeed, have wine, she realized that was sort of a stupid question. They always had wine around. Ella scooted herself down so she was closer to the cabinet, opening it up to fish the big bottle down. ”We’ve got class shooting out of every single hole of our bodies. Really, it’s a little ridiculous sometimes. I’ll be walking down the street and someone will be like ‘gross, what’s coming out of her?’ and it’ll just be my class. Kind of ridiculous sometimes, I think. Too bad we can’t tone it down any.” She turned back to him, then, and held up the alcohol. ”What do you think? Should I get the glasses, or is this more of an out-of-the-bottle kind of night?” Valid question.

Pete grinned again, and nodded slowly. “Sounds about right.” He said, his eyebrows raised slightly. He loved to mess with Dani like this. He knew she wouldn't take it seriously, and so he would be as obnoxious as much as he possibly could before it started to bother her. Which thankfully, was a lot. She dealt with a lot with him, it seemed. But it was all in good fun. Well, most of it. You never really could tell anything with Pete if he didn't want you to. And he did enjoy keeping people guessing. Particular favorite pastime of his, it seemed.
Pete let out a loud wail as she punched him in the arm, and then he rubbed the arm as if it had really hurt. “Hey! Whatever happened to 'honesty is the best policy', eh?” As he was punched in the arm again. “All right, fine then.” He settled down, holding his hands together and then placing them in his lap complacently as he turned to face his best friend, a very serious look on his face and a twinkle in his eye.
“You are the most sane person I've ever met, almost annoyingly so, but you are so good it is impossible to be annoyed by you. Matt is still madly in love with you, thinks about you all the time. The thought of being angry with you never even crossed his mind, because you are the most beautiful, wonderful, incredible person in the whole entire world. Anyone who isn't in love with you is insane. Please marry me.” PJ finished off in a completely monotonous tone, finding it was the best way to finish his mini rant. No way he was being serious, and no way would she ever take that serious anyway. After this, he gave Dani a sarcastic look that asked, 'better?'
He couldn't stop himself from burst out laughing as she explained the extent of their class. “I know, I'm so classy I can't even get a date around here,” He whined as he snapped his fingers, shaking his head slowly and mock sadly at this. “Women take one look at me and think, 'wow, that guy is so classy I can't even bear to look at him.' I doubt the fact that I have rarely left the apartment has anything at all to do with it.. Too bad indeed.” He shrugged, unable to keep the grin off his face. “And of course, there isn't anything classier than drinking out of the bottle.” He said sarcastically as she brought it out of it's cabinet.
“Whichever you prefer, classy lady.” He told her, tilting his head to the side with a smile. “You know, we should have a movie night.” He told her, jerking his head back towards the television. It might have seemed that this was just a random thought that occurred to him, but if you knew Petey you would know that he had probably had it in mind from the moment he suggested pizza. Pizza was his favorite movie food, after all.

Dani watched him, as though she were judging his performance, as he backtracked and spun his speech around to praise her. She nodded slowly, taking it in, and only when she deemed it appropriate did she remove her gaze from him and heave a sigh. ”I know, I know. You’re right, Petey. I’m amazing, I don’t know what I was thinking. And I thank you for your offer, but I can’t marry you because I’m afraid the size of ‘little Pete’ will be too tiny. Valid fear,” she commented, nodding slowly. She knew that he was being sarcastic- obviously- but that didn’t mean she couldn’t play along. ”Plus, we’re sort of already married. I mean, we fight all the time, I have to clean up after you, I secretly resent you, and we don’t have sex. Same thing as marriage, isn’t it?” she teased, nudging him in the side.
She didn’t really expect to get married anytime soon. Yes, Daniella was getting older, but she had the inability to hold a long term relationship with anyone as of late. Matthew had been her only long term boyfriend, and back then, she’d had pretty realistic thoughts about marrying him. It wasn’t really that far off. They’d dated for years and were expecting a child- had Emily survived, she supposed she wouldn’t have even met Peter. A sad thought, but on the flip side, she’d probably have a house by now, and a ring on her finger, and maybe even more kids. She’d always wanted a relatively large family. Matthew would’ve made an amazing father- she’d always thought that. He was a wonderful person.
Shit, she missed him.
Shrugging when he explained the fact that he couldn’t get a date, Ella shifted on the counter slightly. ”You’ll meet more people when we get the restaurant opened up. Guys will bring their dates there but will get distracted because I’m so beautiful, and you can go be their woman’s shoulder to cry on when they’re mourning about how they can’t be as great as I am. And you’ll be upset because you can’t have me so you’ll settle for one another and be great sexual partners and get married and secretly resent me because you both love me and picture the other as me whenever you’re making love. I mean, I’m sorry to tell you that your future involves that, but you don’t mind, right? You knew it was coming.”
Dani popped open the bottle of wine and took a swig of it, handing it over to Peter right after. ”Movie night? What, so there’s something to distract me when you try and slide your hand up my thigh? No way, Mister,” she teased, nudging his arm again before shrugging, seriously responding this time. ”I could go for a movie or two, though. What genre are we feeling tonight?”

Pete forced back a smile as Dani decided whether his performance deemed worthy or not, and responded. “Hey!” he whined, throwing a hand over his heart. “That hurts. Hurts deep. You really ought to kiss it better.” He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively, grinning again. “I could see how that last bit makes sense, however. Let me guess, you resent me because I'm sexy and you can't have me, am I right? Or is it my snappy comebacks? Winning personality? Am I getting closer?” He tossed his hair back dramatically, almost falling over in the process. How that Justin Bieber kid managed to flip his hair like that without getting whiplash was beyond Pete.
Pete nodded, looking down at the floor, as Dani made the point that he'd meet more women when the restaurant opened up, and as she kept talking, he looked up and made a twisted face that showed that he was really trying not to laugh at her. “Wow. I never knew you were psychic.” He managed to say, pulling the corners of his mouth down in an impressed expression. “Hot. Can your boobs predict the weather, too?” He asked, his eyebrows raised as he took the bottle of wine from Dani and took a swig himself.
He wondered often, if he'd not met Dani in college, would he have moved to Capeside anyway, to be closer with his family, and met her then? Would they still end up best friends? Or would he just never meet her? Because honestly, he was just being selfish and sentimental, but he didn't know what would have happened if he hadn't met his best friend here. They bickered often, messed around constantly, but she had really always been there for him, helped him through a lot of crap in his life, and he hoped she could say the same about him. Of course he wished it would have been better circumstances that they met, but he would never wish that it hadn't actually happened.
He chuckled again as she nudged him, shaking his head and snapping his fingers faux disappointedly. “Aw, man. Ya caught me. Maybe next time, I suppose..” Enter a wistful sigh. “Oh, I don't know. Action, scifi, comedy..” His top three choices every time, but of course. “Foreign, classic, romance, cartoon, fantasy.” Because Peter was very rarely truly picky. He put the bottle to the side and rubbed his hands together in a slightly maniacal manner. “Ooorr, if all else fails, we could always revert to Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. Totally have all of those genres covered.” He put his palms up. “Just saying.” Personally, he could watch those movies on repeat for the rest of his life and totally be cool with it. They were always his backup plan, that or Scooby Doo. Obviously, Scooby Doo was beast, and if anyone disagreed.. well, PJ would be very disappointed in them, we'll leave it at that.

Cocking an eyebrow as he started getting all egotistical right back on her, she stared straight at him and kept a blank expression as she responded with, ”Oh yes. All of the above. Why, I think if you don’t take me to bed right now and have your way with me, I’ll just die. Really, I’ll die.” When she ended, Dani shook her head slowly, keeping her eyes glued to him for just a moment longer before sighing heavily and taking another drink of the wine. She’d probably end up getting at least tipsy by the end of the night, but that wasn’t a rare occurrence. She never really held back on her alcohol intake when she was with Peter and they were just having a nice night in. She didn’t really feel like she had to be proper or fancy when she was around him, considering both had seen each other at their worst- or, well, almost. Either way, he saw her walking around in sweatpants, no makeup, and bed head, so what was the use in being modest after that? There was no need to impress him, after all. That was just silly.
Smirking, Daniella shrugged, catching his reference to the movie Mean Girls. Or, well. She’d caught it, even if he hadn’t meant it. Who knew? ”They can tell when it’s raining,” she bantered back, hearing the buzzer go off to their apartment, signaling (she assumed) that the pizza man was downstairs with their food. Sliding off of the counter, silently volunteering to be the one to get it, she listened just barely as he rattled off a list of movies, grabbing her purse from the couch. She pulled out her wallet and got some cash out.
”Let’s watch porn,” she suggested with a smirk, tossing him a playfully suggestive glance over her shoulder at him. ”You have quite the collection, I’m sure. Be right back.” After a quick buzz down to let the guy know she was coming, Daniella slipped on a pair of flip flops and jogged downstairs to get the pizza. After a quick exchange, she grabbed the order and headed quickly back up, slipping into the apartment and tossing the boxes of food down on the coffee table. She assumed they'd be moving in there soon enough, anyways, to watch a movie. "Mind grabbing plates?" she asked, clearing a few bits of paperwork off of the couch so they could sit down. "And fetch your porn collection, dear sir." She was only half serious. Promise.

Peter laughed and shook his head as she told him she would just die without him. "Now, now, no need to be dramatic.." he teased. "It's been how many years? You haven't died yet, have you?" The blank look on her face was really just priceless. Another one of those times he wished he just carried a camera on hand. He really ought to just start doing that. He could make a whole scrapbook or two of just the faces people made at him for the ridiculous things he said. He liked that idea. All he'd really have to do was invest in a camera and a scrapbook.
Peter smirked as she quipped right back at him, he had indeedy been quoting Mean Girls and he'd wondered if she would catch it. He looked up as the buzzer went off, and grinned again as Dani hopped off the counter, indicating he didn't have to go down and get it himself. Which he always liked. Not moving, that is. He merely wrinkled his nose and stuck his tongue out at her as she didn't even consider any of the lists he had just provided her with, but before he could respond, she was gone. Leaving him alone to stay on the counter and swing his legs back and forth in silence as he waited for his food to arrive in silence.
When she had come back up and asked for plates, he'd nodded, pushed himself off the counter and turned around to get two plates out, which he brought to the coffee table in almost record time. Hey- he was hungry, after all. "So that's a definite no to Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, then? How bout Scooby Doo? X-Men? James Bond?"
He flashed a wide smile. You really couldn't blame him for not wanting to watch porn with Dani. She was almost a sister to him- it felt gross. And weird. Not often would you find Pete uncomfortable, but this was one of those few exceptions, unfortunately, and he was sure Dani would notice and tease him but hey, the thought was creepy.
Plus, believe it or not, Pete didn't actually own any porn, so that was also a reason why he was changing the subject, or genre, if that was better fitted, here. What was wrong with Scooby Doo, anyway? Nothing! Exactly! It was a classic.. like Tom and Jerry. Ooh, maybe she'd agree to Tom and Jerry..
