As much as the ginger haired girl loved to learn, this was the problem with it – school. She may not hate it as much if there weren’t so many heavy expectations and if the whole year wasn’t riding on a grade. Most of all she wouldn’t mind it nearly as much if she didn’t feel so alone in such a crowded building, though that tended to be a bit normal for her. Having to experience that feeling every day however was just daunting. It wasn’t like Hannah was rude or even disliked people, it just seemed that they didn’t like her much, she wasn’t the prettiest or most popular girl in school, but she had her close friends yet here she was feeling very alone at this particular moment, it could have been due to the fact that it was the end of the day and the hordes of people had trickled down in the last few moments after the last bell rang.
Hannah of course was tripping over her own two feet, which promptly caused her to fall down the three or four steps she had to go, causing her to lose her books to gravity and sending her keen organization down the tubes. Oh, yes and all this calamity would end in her crashing hard into the ground and searing pain. “Jumpin’ Jehoshaphat” she growled through her pain. Hannah wasn’t the normal type; she said weird things that most people didn’t hear from anyone but their grandparents. She tried not to use real expletives most of the time, some things just weren’t supposed to be used in colloquial language and yes she was the girl with the large vocabulary that liked to read the dictionary for fun occasionally. Some people had a problem with that and a lot of people seemed to assume that because she knew “big words” she thought she was somehow better than everyone else.
Though, she wasn’t one of those people who had a superiority complex because she knew a couple words other people didn’t. She was a sweet girl who knew a lot of words – that’s all. The girl didn’t even expect people to know some of the words she did, she didn’t think they were stupid or even think the slightest bit less of their intelligence. Well maybe if it was something completely obvious, but never the less she wasn’t mean about it. It seemed as soon as she hit the ground she was up and scrambling to gather her books, see Hannah was hoping no one had seen her rather rough fall and was frantically trying to expunge the evidence. Yes, she was odd and she liked it that way, but she did not want to give some mean girl something new to call her like… for the love of Weadon, Raggedy Ann.
Hannah was not very graceful or coordinated especially in situations where she’s stressed or rushed, or when stairs are involved. Making her father’s suggestion of cheerleading for an after school activity even more obscene. She needed more after school activities for her transcript to look perfect, good grades apparently didn’t get you everywhere anymore, these days you had to be social able as well. So the two of them sat trying to figure one out for her and that silly, ridiculous suggestion came out of his mouth. She grabbed for her sketch book and quickly straightened herself as she simultaneously struggled to move hair out of her face.
