Lorelai laughed when Spencer beckoned her into the car with his little gesture. With her newly freed hand, she reached up to pat his cheek softly. ”Why thank you, Mr. Honeycutt. Please try and remember to wear your hat next time, though- it’s part of the uniform,” she joked with a fake English accent, backing up to curtsy before climbing into his car. ”I also demand a tiara,” she called out as an afterthought, grinning out at him. While she waited for him to get into the car himself, she situated herself into a more comfortable position and fastened her seatbelt, setting her purse down by her feet. She leaned down to fish out her sunglasses (which were, admittedly, far too big for her face and always fell down her nose but she insisted on wearing them nevertheless) and pushed them up onto her face.
Once he was in a position where he could hear her, she struck back up a previous line of conversation that was now on the forefront of her mind. ”How much do you think getting a bunny would cost? Like, along with the food and stuff I would have to get for it. Would it be super expensive?” Lorelai was very much a pet girl. She couldn’t really have any big animals like a dog or cat in her complex but she thought that smaller animals that didn’t really make noise or cause trouble were fine. ”I’ve wanted a bunny named Thumper for… Years. Ellie and I saw Bambi for the first time and we both agreed that one day, we’d get a bunny named Thumper. We never did, but now I really want one. Maybe I’ll save up. But yeah, how expensive do you think it would be?” Lorelai had the really bad habit of talking about Elliot as though he were still around and everyone knew who he was. That was absurd. No one knew who he was and there was no way he’d ever come back, but for some reason, she just… Well. She had a problem. There was no doubt about that. She was, however, slightly aware of the fact that Spencer had no idea who she was talking about and unless he’d picked up on her talking about him before, he probably thought she was talking about some girl named Ellie. Oh well. She wouldn’t worry about it unless he started asking questions.
She also really didn’t have the funds for a bunny. As it was, she was already close to being evicted from her apartment. Although she worked a fair amount at the coffee shop, Lore was still paid very poorly and hardly had enough to pay her rent and buy food, let alone buy a bunny rabbit. But it was a nice thought, really. She and Elliot had spent a lot of time drumming up plans for the future and Thumper had always been involved. A sort of ‘first pet’ kind of thing- they’d agreed to work up to a dog after they knew they could take care of a rabbit. Even if it weren’t tied to him, Lorelai would certainly appreciate the company a pet would bring. Something to cuddle up with, to love, who wouldn’t be able to leave her. She wanted someone in her life to depend on her.
ooc. it was great. <3 I love all of your posts. and I love you! I’m sorry this is short and shitty on my end, though. :c

Something Spencer had always loved about music was that at any given moment you would hear a song you could swear was written just for you. Then reality would set in and you’d realize your case wasn’t special, someone was feeling and experiencing the same thing you were. People all over the world were thinking the same thing you were five minutes ago and suddenly you wouldn’t feel so alone – so abnormal. While uniqueness was always something Spencer loved in a person and himself, he never wanted to be alone in life. Songs like Creep made him feel less alone, less like he was asking for something that was absurd and unattainable. Maybe wanting people to notice when he wasn’t around wasn’t a needy feeling, but a natural human desire. Creep became especially prevalent to his life when Lorelai was around he’d become convinced that Thom Yorke had met Lorelai and wrote the first verse about her. Then, all of that began to sound too romantic and he pushed it to the back of his mind.
Things needed to stay platonic with the two of them, he didn’t want to be the guy who ruined the perfect angel Yorke had been singing about. Course it was impossible for the song to be about her considering it was written in the eighties, but it fit her so perfectly he couldn’t help but think that. Just like he couldn’t help but fear being alone, especially in love, that was a terrifying thought to him and when it came down to it – as reckless as he appeared – he wasn’t at all brave and it took a lot of courage to love someone. To love someone you had to lose a certain level of control over yourself and situations and as previously mentioned Spencer was a control freak of epic proportions even if he always appeared laidback and unaffected by the unknown, he still was just as afraid as everyone else when the world suddenly flipped upside down. The only difference was he was used to it and even expected it. It wasn’t lost on him that it was quite sad and pathetic that at the age of twenty four he’d never been in love, but it just wasn’t a risk he was willing to take.
Smiling at Lorelai he nodded and gave her a small bow “won’t happen again Ms. Andrews” he walked around to the driver’s side and pulled open his own door climbing in seemingly all in one motion. With another word from Lorelai he started the engine and pressed the top down button before looking at her “I’ll get right on that” he said in a business like tone in response to her tiara comment. As he put the car in reverse Lorelai began to talk about her bunny plans again he thought for a moment as he pulled out of the parking space “I’m not really sure actually, I’ve never known anyone with a rabbit before” his Grandmother and parents were always very adamant that they were nothing but a cuter breed of rat, so he would imagine they’d be too expensive if you could just feed them garbage. “who’s Ellie? A roommate” he’d heard quite a bit about this girl, always in passing though as if the two of them had a falling out and no longer spoke. Though, Lore still seemed to remember Ellie fondly.
Pulling out of the parking lot he spoke aloud “away we go” it was a habit of his, something he always said when he’d be driving a long way or for any length of time, even if no one else was in the car with him he’d simply just say it to his car. Someone was with him this time though and that wasn’t lost on him, it was a difficult thing to forget Lorelai Andrews was in your presence.
ooc:// spencer is so weirdly quirky lol

Lorelai had always grown up with a sense of imagination. When she and Elliot were just little kids, they would always play little games, much like every other child in their age group. But it was something that she had never really grown out of. Sure, after Elliot’s passing, she seemed to lose a bit of a skip to her step (although anyone who knew her now wouldn’t know it) and she was, admittedly, a bit calmer, she still preferred to surround herself with people who she could play around with. She went to great lengths to ensure that no one ever got their feelings hurt by her- probably to an extent where it was obnoxious, even- and she strived to be the nicest she could possibly be. Therefore, whenever she joked around with someone about things that maybe weren’t so nice, it was a sign that said person was a big part of her life, considering she trusted them enough to expect that they knew that she wasn’t being serious. Spencer was one of those people. She didn’t have to tip-toe around his feelings because a. She only had good things to say about him (which was true for most people, but especially him) and b. She trusted that he knew she was just kidding. It’s partially why he’d managed to become her closest friend. He was all around fun to be with.
A bright grin on her face when he bantered back, she busied herself trying to straighten out her dress while he started up the car. ”I had a friend who had a bunny, once,” she mused, ”One of my band mates. His sister actually had it, I think… But we used to practice in his garage and they’d always yell at me because I’d sneak inside to go play with it. Eventually they hid the bunny’s cage so I couldn’t find it. It was sad, but I think they felt bad because he brought the bunny out at the end of every practice so I could play with him. He was cute. I don’t know why some people don’t like rabbits. Some of them like to play fetch, and go for walks… I don’t know. They’re cuddly. Sometimes, when I want to cuddle- okay, I always want to cuddle- and I’m alone up in my apartment, I wish I had a bunny. Well, I always want a bunny. I don’t know. If I ever get more money, I’ll get one.” Lorelai had the bad habit of talking far too much about certain topics, especially ones she got excited about. No one really cared about what she had to say, she was sure- after all, she was just rambling on about rabbits- but she had a hard time stopping herself once she got going. It was a problem and she treasured anyone who would sit around and not get annoyed with her about it. She managed to shut herself up, though, and took a deep breath.
And… There it was.
She probably should’ve expected it. After all, Lore brought up Elliot quite often and didn’t offer any explanation as to who he was. But then again, she didn’t like to talk about it. Well, she never told anyone, at any rate- everyone who knew had known the two of them since they were kids. A big part of why she moved out of town was because she was tired of people constantly reminding her, asking her if she was okay. Of course she wasn’t okay. Another reason she didn’t talk about it was because she wasn’t sure how many details she should offer. She decided, then, to just answer the questions as they came, answer them thoroughly, and if he wanted to know, he’d ask. ”Ellie. Elliot Smith,” she started, and almost stopped like that would cover it, but quickly backtracked to offer up an explanation. ”He was my best friend growing up.” That was the understatement of the year, but it fit. Elliot had, first and foremost, been her best friend, even once they had started dating. Frowning absentmindedly, Lore reached her hand over a little, palm-up, silently asking for one of Spencer’s.
ooc. she rambles so muuuuch about nothing. i hope it's not too obnoxious. xD

There weren’t many games that Spencer enjoyed in fact he spent so much of his childhood avoiding them one would think he’d never engaged in one at all. The creative and persuasive little boy even convinced his doctor to write him a doctor’s note to get out the brutal “game” of dodge ball. There was always one game he never stopped playing as a child – pretend. He’d play it for all hours of the day speaking in different accents and jumping over pretend lava pits from rock to rock. One could easily argue that Spencer never stopped playing pretend, only in his older age it became a much darker and sinister game. Don’t let anyone know you’re unhappy. Spencer grew up with a rather weak immune system, he was constantly coming down with the cold and various other ailments, but for how often Spencer visited the doctor he’d never once said the words “I’m sad”. Course now you couldn’t get Spencer to visit a doctor for the life of him, so the fact that he’d gone earlier that week was an indication of how desperate he was for sleep.
The question nagged him though over the years, why hadn’t he in his younger days told someone that he was constantly sad? It was as if even at a young age he felt his strength was important to the rest of the family, even before Milly was born and got sick. When he looked back on it now, he still couldn’t understand why he felt that way. He felt that people saw him as a rock growing up and with that came the attributes of one, he always felt he appeared stony and cold to everyone. He never cried at funerals or when people got sick, he’d hold those up that couldn’t do it themselves and then when it was all over and the people in his world began to feel better he’d finally allow himself to feel it, whatever it was and break down – alone. Then he would go on pretending he was still the stoic and brilliantly string boy everyone saw him as and not give it a second thought. Of course then this would often backfire on him as he’d start getting choked up during a school presentation or something else equally as ridiculous and inappropriate. That was who he was though and once someone engrains themselves with something it’s a very difficult thing to break. He’d gathered from his interactions with Lorelai that he must be a generally quiet person since she seemed to feel she needed to make up for about ninety eight percent of the conversation. Honestly maybe he was a generally quiet person, or maybe he just liked the sound of her voice because he rarely wished she’d stop. He laughed as Lorelai talked about the bunny and how her band mates were forced to hide it from her to get anything done “bunny must have some kind of pheromone that makes some people love and become addicted to them and others dislike them immensely” he smiled without taking his eyes from the road in front of him, but the smile was intended to be for Lorelai, he then shrugged before speaking again “then there are those like me who are immune to it all together” this time he allowed himself to flick a smile in her direction.
Spencer listened with blissful ignorance as Lorelai told him who this famous Ellie was “that explains it” he nodded, of course he was referring to how much Ellie found himself into conversations “are you guys still close?”, if Spencer knew he had been much more to Lorelai than a friend he might have started to feel pangs of jealousy even if Elliot wasn’t in fact still around. Glancing at Lorelai’s sudden movement he saw that she’d put out her hand silently asking for his and he silently obliged, squeezing her tiny hand for a moment before loosening his grip. Though he was a bit oblivious to the reason she wanted his hand at that particular moment he’d never turn down a chance to hold her hand, he liked how they felt – soft and delicate, kind and warm. Safe.
ooc:// no it’s not annoying and she’s rambling about something bunnies. haha
