-- SPENCER ARES HONEYCUTT !
-- NAME: Spencer Ares Honeycutt -- NICKNAMES: Spence, etc. -- AGE & BIRTHDAY: twenty four, November 11th -- BIRTH PLACE: Capeside -- ORIENTATION: straight boy -- OCCUPATION & SCHOOL GRADE: film photographer/graphic’s designer -- PLAYED BY: Joseph Gordon-Levitt
-- PERSONALITY !
-- CREATIVE: Since he was just a little boy Spence has always been creative, his fifth birthday he told his parents I’m going to be a director. On his eighth birthday he got his first video camera, it hasn’t left his side since. Spencer is always carrying a video camera of some sort, small or massive it’s always there. Spencer also loves photography, but has never gotten too into it due to that fact that he believes everyone should have their own little niche and he never wanted his sister Ruby to feel he was taking her “thing” from her. Mostly he loves taking Polaroid’s and often has an old timey Polaroid camera with him as well as his video camera. All in all Spencer loves art, his “other” job is being a graphic designer, so if he’d working in a creative field he’s happy.
-- PASSION: Spencer choses to have many passions and his biggest is life. He’s the kind of person that has an extremely great time just living that it’s contagious. Granted he has his down days, but he’s never been one to show it. All his life he’s hidden his sad moments for the simple reason that it makes other sad as well and there’s really no point in that. However this causes a thing called bottling, which has many problems of its own. Spencer refuses to live without passion though, he lives his life one day at a time. After all he’s only twenty four he has his whole life to live and he doesn’t want to spend that time thinking about what comes next.
--MAN-WHORE: As I was saying Spencer is all about being passionate; and that doesn’t exclude women. In high school he wasn’t much with the girls, but now… well you could say he’s a bit of a man-whore. The boy isn’t necessarily afraid of commitment he’s just never really felt a need for it; it’s more that he hasn’t met that person he feels he wants to spend a life time with. However that doesn’t necessarily make him cynical or one of those anti-love gnome’s that stomp all over the prospect, he wants that person that makes him want to be better that person who makes you feel you don’t have to hide any aspect of yourself; he’s just not sure that person exists.
-- LOVES: films, photography, his family, passion, creativity, coffee, cigarettes, life, women, music, the idea of love, emotional strength, people who remind him how strong people can be and how resilient, vulnerability (in others), innocence, belief in others -- HATES: cigarettes (he’s trying to quit), people who say others can’t achieve their dreams, any kind of degradation or demoralization of a person, racism, bigotry, arrogance (even his own), doubt, weakness, illness, medication, stigmas, cynicism (otherwise known as downers), people who condemn him for how he chooses to live his life.
-- HISTORY ! The Honeycutt’s, Heidi and Benjamin’s first child was Spencer Ares Honeycutt. Spencer was born on November eleventh exactly twenty four years ago. Always a happy child, he had nothing but high hopes for his life and the world. At the age of five he discovered what he was going to grow up to be and when he was four he got what he’d wanted for ages (well it seemed like ages to him) and that was a sibling. Little did he know he’d get three. He and Sam were very different; Sam was shy and seemed almost somber due to his quiet nature. Only three years later Ruby came and a couple after that Milly was born.
That was when everything changed for the Honeycutt’s Milly had leukemia, Spencer was tested, but wasn’t a match. In later years came a bittersweet moment; they’d found a match for Milly, but unfortunately it was eight year old Ruby. Always being protective of his samplings he was horrified; everyone knew that extracting bone marrow was extremely painful and that wasn’t something he wanted his little sister to go through. Ruby proved to be a very brave little girl and in that moment Spencer realized she was much less delicate than she seemed.
He himself had problems of his own, though he always gave the impression that he was always happy for a long time he hid his feelings, bottled them up inside and never let them out. In doing so, this caused him to become very unhappy (though he still wouldn’t show it or tell anyone about it). At that time he picked up a razor blade and took his “emotions” into his own hands. As most self-mutilators do, he hid his secret “coping mechanism” very, very well. To this day no one in his family knows about it.
Over the years he’d made several films, some included his siblings as his stars and around the age of seventeen he began applying to colleges and sending in “portfolios”. At that time he didn’t think much about what he’d do if he got into an out of state school, but when the time came that he was accepted into one of the most coveted film schools in the country that decision had to be made. Even though it went against what his parents wanted and even what he wanted he accepted the scholarship immediately, it was too good of an opportunity to pass up. Ever since however he’s felt that his family, especially his siblings, resented him for going so far away at that particular time.
In his year at school his compulsion became more severe and more and more frequent due to his guilt. As much as he loved school and tried to keep in touch with his family, but it wasn’t the same. Hitting rock bottom he planned to kill himself; over the years he’d become a far cry from the little passionate boy he once was. Luckily his roommate had come home earlier than expected and called an ambulance. Again Spencer refused to let them contact his family or tell them about what happened. Yet he decided he wanted to get back to the little boy he was and took advantage of free group counseling.
Now Spencer works as a graphic designer and continues to make films. Having a business he can do from anywhere is very beneficial to him especially at this particular time, he just got word that his sister Milly was sick again and he knew he couldn’t stay away anymore. It was time he went home. Spencer still stuggles with bottling his emotions, but hasn’t cut himself in two years; though the cuts and healed the pain is still present with the scars that adorn his body and the pain (and what he considers weakness) that each scar represent. He’s never told his parents about his self-mutilation or his suicide attempt, but like I said he’s still working on opening up to people. Though in the last few years he’s managed to find happiness again and he’s begun to except that he won’t be happy all the time. He chooses to be excited and have a lust for life, he chooses to be happy, one day at a time.
