-- MEREDITH JANE PILSBURY !
-- NAME: Meredith Jane Pilsbury -- NICKNAMES: Merie (ma-ree, not marry) -- AGE & BIRTHDAY: Nineteen, June Twenty-third -- BIRTH PLACE: Capeside -- ORIENTATION: Heterosexual -- OCCUPATION & SCHOOL GRADE: College Sophomore -- PLAYED BY: Lyndsy Fonseca
-- PERSONALITY !
-- INTELLIGENT: Be it her private weekend tutor or her natural knack for written word, Merie always was good in school. She, of course, liked to imagine it was talent and not Mr. Birkley, the annoying, creepy tutor guy who works with her ever Wednesday and Saturday. Though she excels in english and history, she's in the upper percentage for math and science as well. Merie loves puzzles and all the like, and it always fun to converse with, as her topics of expertise range indefinitely. -- STRONG-MINDED/WILLED: One way to think of Meredith is as a rubber band. She's never been in control of where she has been pulled or stretched, but even so, she's remained resilient and never broken. Merie refuses to be bullied into anything, even if she's on the losing side. This trait is very prevalent, as it often results in her arguing with her parents over their narrow-minded view of how her life should be. If she wants something else, she's going to chase after it, even if they disapprove. And boyo, do they disapprove. -- MUSICAL: Though not exactly born with it like some people, Meredith loves music. She has been playing the piano, violin and flute since she was in first grade and hates them all. Well, except the piano, but that's because it's so versatile and the guy she really likes plays it really well. But that's beside the point. Anyway, for her, it's always been jazz and odd, indie tracks that appall her parents. Like, say, Atomsphere. They can't stand it. -- REBELLIOUS: Again, I have to make the rubberband reference. But here, it's more about how she snaps back when she's been stretched just a little too far. Like, hey, sometimes living under the roof of two shallow parents gets to be a little much. If she sneaks out, it wouldn't be the first time. In fact, she often sneaks out just to freak her parents out. She'd never resort to vandalism or drugs or anything. But she loves crawling out of her window and going down to the beach and grabbing a bite to eat at any ungodly hour.
-- LOVES: xavier, jazz, dancing, fast food, talking until the sun comes up, beaches, puppies, writing, jeremy messersmith, mystery novels -- HATES: debutante anything, flute and violin, her tutor, meat products, energy drinks, dumb people, bullies, dresses/skirts, roller coasters, sexism
-- HISTORY !
Born in Capeside to Johanna and Daryl Pilsbury, Meredith was brought up in a very suffocating environment. From a young age, she was subjected to what she would call torture-- debutante balls, private lessons in everything from horseback riding to flute, and a plethora of others. As her family was fabulously wealthy (her father worked in stocks and her mother was from old money) she was taught to believe that money could fix everything. Of course, the naturally spirited girl never took stock in the lessons her parents tried to force down her throat from a young age. Don't get it wrong-- Meredith loves her parents. She just wonders sometimes if they love her, or love what they're trying to make her. To show that she's wasn't a total rotten egg, she did do the debutante things and the lessons all through elementary, middle and high school, but it wasn't uncommon for her to express her dislike of them. Note, it's not that she was a complainer, she just wants her parents to know she was only doing it because they want her to, not because she enjoys it. Most of her life has been led in this sheltered way. When Merie hit high school, she began to branch out. She met some of the older students who weren't the best influence, but taught her more about self-reliance and doing her own thing. This was about the time that she started sneaking out of the house to go hang down at the pier. Spending time with kids who were older than her helped her grow up a little; act like an adult. When they left, she was resigned to hanging out with kids her age, all the while acting like someone a good deal older. Because of this, at school, she is seen as a confident, cool and collected girl who is always on the ball with advice and such. Many often forget that she needs advice too. In fact, more than anything, for the first seventeen years of her life or so, all she wanted was a shoulder to cry on.
And what do you know-- she got it.
Xavier Evans came to Capeside just over a year ago and the two hit it off immediately. He was soft spoken, but quietly intelligent and magnificently musical. She couldn't help but develop a bit of crush on him. For the past year, the two have steadily grown closer. Merie ignores her feelings because, like many young women, she worries about whether or not he likes her that way and so on.
Now a college sophomore, she spends most of her time telling her mom she's done debutanting, hanging out with Xavier at her flat near the college and protesting feminism and vegetarianism to the world.
