YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Aimee and little Lily were heading to the Ice Cream Parlour because of plans they had with one of Aimee’s closest friends, Landon. Whenever the three of them were out and about everyone assumed they were a proper family, a young one but a complete one and it broke Aimee’s heart to have to tell them otherwise, not because she had those kinds of feelings towards Landon but just because she wanted to be able to give Lily that, she wanted Lily to have the normal family, the whole white picket fence scenario, Lily deserved that. The little blonde adored ice cream which was why the parlour was a great place to take the sugar loving four year old, and it made it easy for Landon to find them as the place wasn’t too large. Lily skipped ahead of Aimee but every so often she turned around to give her mother a big smile and to check she was still close, Lily was a confident girl but she liked to know her mom was close enough to help her if something went wrong. As the blonde skipped her pigtails bounced and she smiled each time they swung and tapped her head, she thought it was hilarious. She wore a little red and black dress with a black cardigan and little red Dorothy shoes, she looked as cute as a button, and she knew it.
Lily was aware that her puppy dog eyes could get her whatever she wanted, especially with people that weren’t her family, Aimee’s friends couldn’t resist giving in to the little girl when she asked for some candy or a toy, which was the why the little girl seemed spoilt. Her personality wasn’t spoilt at all though, she was adorable and Aimee knew that sometime she’d have to teach the girl that she couldn’t get everything she wanted but that time wasn’t quite yet, she wanted to make Lily’s childhood as perfect as she could. Lily didn’t get her way as often with her family as she did their friends because they knew her tricks, they could see past the cute smile and puppy dog eyes, but today Lily was getting what she wanted, a day out with her mom and ice cream. The blonde did a couple of spins and then ran towards her mom, enveloping her into a tight hug before taking her hand and pulling her towards the store.
The arrived at the Ice Cream Store and Lily pushed the door open, attempting to hold it open for her mom too. She smiled and looked at all the types of ice cream, a look of joy crossing her face as she looked at all the bright colours, “what this?”
she asked and pointed towards a pink one, “strawberry cheesecake” Aimee said with a smile, hoping the girl wouldn’t pick just based on the colour, when she did that she ended up with flavours she didn’t like and would most likely end up eating Aimee’s ice cream instead. Aimee continued to read the labels to Lily waiting for Landon to arrive before they actually ordered any ice cream, otherwise the two Evans’ would have finished theirs before the boy even arrived. Aimee began to scan the flavours to decide which one she wanted when Lily pointed happily to a vanilla flavour with spots in it, “that one please” she said and Aimee immediately shook her head, “there’s nuts in that one sweetie” she said and Lily nodded before looking down to the floor, the girl was starting to realise that she couldn’t eat nuts, she was allergic. [/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - status: COMPLETEtagged: LANDONwords: SIX OH TWOnotes: FINALLYlyrics: FIREFLIES, OWL CITYcredit: TEMPLATE BY SHAZI ?! people change and promises are broken clouds can move and skies will be wide open Landon slipped into the driver's side of his black Toyota Corolla and headed towards the bay where he was planning to meet Aimee and Lily for ice cream. He was anticipating the get-together with his good friend and her daughter. The twenty-four year old had known Aimee for a couple years now and watched Lily grow up as if she was his own. It was an ironic thought because most assumed the two were a couple and had started their family at a young age. Landon cared for his friend beyond what words could describe but she was more of an older sister. A slightly older sibiling figure that he didn't have in his own family but something he was grateful to have in a friend. The pair got along extremely well and were always there for one another. In a way, Landon was protective of Aimee, despite their small age difference but it was in his nature, especially with a younger, biological sister to look after. Looking after others was something Landon paraded on. He was the one who answered to any cry. He loved to help others in hopes of making ones life a little more easier on them. It was a trait that he not only believed he was taught while growing up but was born with as well.
The tall auburn haired man stepped out of his parked car and headed into the ice cream parlor, holding the door open for an older couple that was heading out. Landon offered a warm smile as they thanked him. He loved to watch elderly people amongst the youth, especially ones that were in good health. Landon was so use to go on calls for heart attack or stroke victims. Being a paramedic, he knew that everyone would pass someday but the logical reasoning never made it any easier. He watched the couple mosey down the side walk before the mixtures of ice cream scents tingled one of his many senses. Landon allowed the door to swing shut behind him as he scanned for his company, smiling when he noticed another brunette and her little blonde girl. As he approached them, he over heard their conversation about nuts and recalled Lily being allergic to them. "Nuts aren't that good anyways." He leaned over and poked at the child's sides playfully. "I thought you were in a sorbert faze anyways?" He questioned before straightening his posture and offering Aimee a hug.
"How are two of my favorite girls?" Needless to say he had a lot of women in his life. None of which were in any type of romantic relationship with him. Helping Aimee with Lily at times made Landon wander when he would ever settle down. Sure he was only twenty-four but it was the perfect age to find the right woman that he wanted to start a life with. Relationships should have come easily to him, since Landon was always looking for someone new to look after but he found himself falling for the wrong girls. More like, he fell for the ones he couldn't have. "So what sounds good?" He questioned, peeking threw the glass that came between him and a delicious treat, still unsure of what flavor he wanted.

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Aimee was a single mom but she never let that bother her, Lily may not have a dad but she had four uncles and four aunties, her family was large enough. The only problem Aimee had was what Lily missed out on, she worried that Lily would have to explain where her dad was when the children at school asked or how Aimee would explain it when Lily asked her, ‘why isn’t daddy here’. Lily’s dad wasn’t a complete waste of space, he gave Aimee money every month which was why they could afford to live in such a nice house but she was sure that was only because his parents believed that he should have a role in Lily’s life, sadly the only role he took was a monetary one. Lily had a few father type figures, Aimee’s brothers and friends stepped up to the mark but they were never going to be Lily’s dad and that was the only thing about the boy leaving that upset Aimee. Pretty much every though that crossed Aimee’s mind was connected to her family, whether it be looking after Lily or keeping tabs on her family who seemed to be popping up around her area.
It was quite odd actually, Aimee had moved to Capeside see if she was able to stand on her own feet but her family seemed to have followed her and now she had a brother and sister living with her a Lily. Of course the little blonde adored it, she had built in playmates and it was good for Aimee because they were happy to babysit whenever she needed them, which was lucky because at the moment they were eating her out of house and home, she needed a way for them to earn their keep. Aimee adored her family to pieces and she was so glad to have some of them back, without them it was like a piece of her was missing and now some of it was filled back in. The brunette turned as she heard a voice and Lily squealed and squirmed as the boy poked her in the side and commented on the fact he thought she preferred sorbet. “I like sobet”
she said pronouncing the word wrong but giving the boy a wild smile, “it’s pretty colours” she added, pointing out that she realised that the brighter coloured ones were sorbet and not ice cream. The brunette turned and smiled as the boy asked how his favourite girls were, “well, I’m very good thankyou, this one’s hyperactive as per usual” she said, messing up the little girl’s hair with her hand. Lily span around and hugged the boy, “I’m the favourite” she said looking at him with an angry expression, she wanted to be number one on the list, not behind her mom. Lily poked her mom and pointed to a bright orange one, “that’s mango sorbet” Aimee said and Lily smiled before turning to Landon to give him her answer, “Mango sobet” she said mispronouncing it once more, she was really struggling with that word today. Aimee wasn’t sure if she was going to get ice cream but as she looked at the flavours she knew she was going to cave and get cookie dough ice cream with chocolate sauce, the brunette wasn’t very inventive when it came to ice cream, she always got the same thing, as Lily would say she was ‘pridicable’. [/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - status: COMPLETEtagged: LANDONwords: FIVE FOUR THREEnotes: FINALLYlyrics: FIREFLIES, OWL CITYcredit: TEMPLATE BY SHAZI ?! people change and promises are broken clouds can move and skies will be wide open “I thought you did.” Landon smiled down at the blonde, knowing he had probably fixed the issue of choosing which ice cream she wanted. It was a helpful gesture, for who knew how long they’d have to wait before Lily finally picked a flavor, but that quality came naturally for the twenty-four year old as well. He believed it was something taught by both his parents as he was growing up but also something he was born with. He was the child who shared his toys instead of fighting over them and always looked for something to fix. Landon, in a way, believed he had a sixth sense on pinpointing when something was wrong. He didn’t even have to ask his parents about the divorce and even though he was only twelve at the time, the boy knew that his parents were splitting simple based on his mother’s mood. Even though a change of emotion is easy to tell from the outside, most tend to hide it and even those people couldn’t hide from his willing desire to make them feel better. Whether it was to be the crying shoulder or the hope that everything would be ok, Landon was always there for others and still was.
“Nothing like a little ice cream will fix.” He offered a cheesy grin to Aimee’s comment about Lily being hyper. Ice cream was probably the last thing they four year old needed but that was all part of being a kid. Landon peered down at the little one hugging his legs and bent down as if to whisper in her ear. “You are my favorite, just don’t let your mommy know that. She might get jealous.” He was teasing but he knew Lily would find the thought reassuring. He enjoyed being with the little girl when he had the chance. She was like a niece despite all the many uncle’s and aunt’s she already had. It was the way he interacted with the blonde that made Landon realize he would be a great father someday. It was time that fogged his patience. Even though he held no grudge his parents for splitting, he didn’t want a life like that. He wanted to make sure that the woman he would eventually marry would stick by him threw thick and thin. It was a perfect scenario that he hoped for in a not so perfect world, but Landon would try his best.
“Mango sorbet it is then.” He nodded then turned to Aimee. “What about you? What looks appetizing?” Landon asked, allowing her a minute to think as he order a cone for Lily and himself. He didn’t have a favorite and liked to try a new flavor every time he came to the ice cream shop. That was also something very natural for the tall brunette. Maybe it was the rush he got of not knowing the consequences of his actions but he was very daring when it came to making choices. “I’ll have cotton candy.” He pointed as if the employee hadn’t known where it was already. It was just a habit

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Lily smiled as the boy confirmed that she did indeed like sorbet, she was glad there was someone to remind her, as she was only four she was pretty forgetful. Aimee loved having Landon around, he was always helpful with Lily, knowing exactly what to say to help them not waste tons of time, he acted like he had his own kids but he was just naturally good with them. She knew he was going to be an amazing dad when he found a girl to live that life with, even Lily agreed. Aimee knew that some people had a knack for understanding and working with kids and others just lacked it completely, Landon had such a natural gift with kids that she hoped it wouldn’t be too long before he met the girl that could make all that true. Aimee liked seeing her friends happy; it was what made her happy, cliché but nonetheless completely true. Aimee had always been like that, growing up she hadn’t been worried about whether she was getting what she wanted, she cared about her friends and family, she wanted them to find their passions and achieve their dreams, it brought her the same joy it seemed to bring them; maybe that was the why Aimee had never found her own Evans calling.
The little blonde nodded and began to jump up and down when the boy commented that the ice cream was a perfect way to stop her being too excitable, she’d take any excuse for some ice cream. Aimee rolled her eyes at the boys comment and looked at him, “I know, this probably wasn’t the best idea” she said with a smile, she liked taking Lily out for treats, even if it wasn’t the best thing for her daughter’s excitement. Lily giggled and hugged the boy again as he told her that she was the favourite but it wouldn’t be nice to tell her mom that, she nodded and then zipped her lips showing that the secret was safe with her. Lily had so many aunts and uncles that she struggled to keep count, she had all her mom’s brothers and sisters but then there were all those that seemed like aunts and uncles but really they weren’t at all related. Sometimes Lily called Landon Uncle by accident, it confused her because she had the same relationship with Landon as she did her real uncles.
She started eyeing up the ice cream as the boy asked her what she was going to have, though really it was a no brainer, “chocolate chip cookie dough” she said with a cheeky smile, she was nothing if not predictable. Aimee always had the same ice cream, sometimes she added another flavour just to make it a little more exciting but she usually stuck to what she knew. The brunette was like that in a few ways, she wasn’t one to change things unless they needed it, she followed the phrase ‘if it ain’t broken don’t fix it’. She had no problems with her choice of ice cream so far and so she wasn’t about to change it. She was a bit of a picky eater and so trying new things wasn’t something she undertook on a regular basis, she tried to convince Lily to be the opposite. That was the hardest part of parenting for Aimee, trying to teach your children to be something that you aren’t, Aimee knew her flaws and she worked on trying to make sure Lily didn’t fall down the same traps but it was difficult. She screwed up her face as he said that he was having cotton candy, it sounded horrible but she let him be and ordered her own ice cream and Lily’s sorbet.
