Whether or not Aiden wanted to admit it, nights with Lorelai were one of the only things that he really looked forward to. He liked to think of himself as a self-sufficient person but it was only human to want contact with someone else. The funny thing was that Aiden never pictured himself to get along with her so well. For most of his life, he had strayed away from people who were genuinely sweet and innocent. To him, innocence seemed like some sort of weakness. The again, any character trait that Aiden didn't possess seemed like weakness to him. Sometimes he wondered if being friends with Lore had softened him up a bit- spending weeknights cuddling and doing crosswords really didn't seem like a manly thing to do. However, Aiden was never really one of those manly men- and crosswords were always better with more people involved.
Aiden reached her door and knocked, bracing himself for the impact that would be a Lorelai hug. He had known her long enough to know that a handshake greeting was unheard of to her, and even when he first met her it was endearing to him. He also knew not to worry if she didn't answer the door at first, life never stopped for Lorelai and she was constantly fiddling with something. Aiden smiled to himself and glanced down at the crossword book that he had brought over. It had been a new addition to the book store, and a great find for Aiden. He had looked like a kid who had just gotten his first bike- with a grin as wide as the world itself. "Dear Lorelai, you should open the door and let me in. It's cold.", he yelled, using somewhat of a playful tone. He glanced back up at the door and waited patiently for their night to finally begin.

Lorelai had always been the kind of person who didn’t really recognize the idea of personal space with people she was close to. If someone gave her the idea that they didn’t like it, sure, she’d back off. But she didn’t view things such as cuddling to always be something sexual. Elliot had always spoiled her, she supposed, because even before they started dating, they spent most of their time cuddling up next to each other at every moment possible. There was always some sort of physical contact between the two. Perhaps it was the fact that she just missed contact with him that made her try to replace it by cuddling up to everyone else- if that was the case, she wouldn’t admit it. But despite any rumors that may have come around about her and those she cuddled up to, truth be told, they were just friends.
Aiden was no exception.
The two of them had grown close over the span of knowing each other, and he had sort of become the person Lai went to whenever she wanted a hug. Sure, she had Spencer, and he was her best friend, as well as someone she loved to snuggle up to. But Aiden liked to spend time just cuddled up on the couch, usually with some sort of brain teaser for them to engage in.
She had been distracted when the first buzz up to her apartment came, Louis (her banjo) placed in her lap as she played an absentminded tune. She caught the tail end of his yell when there was a pause in the song (when she was trying to find the right chord- sometimes, her fingers just weren’t long enough) and was momentarily confused, cocking her head to the side. Only when she realized who it was did she set the instrument down, racing to the door.
”Aiden!” she greeted cheerfully when she opened it up, a smile on her face while she smoothed down the back of her dress. ”Hey! Come in.” Lorelai held out her arms, obviously wanting a hug. Naturally. She paused for a moment, then, and as his previous words sunk in, she frowned. "Oh no, how long have you been standing out here? A long time? You're cold? Oh no. I'm sorry. Do you want a blanket? I can get you a blanket." Always a worry-wart.
