-- JOANNA ELEANOR BELLAMY !
-- NAME: Joanna Eleanor Bellamy -- NICKNAMES: Jo, J -- AGE & BIRTHDAY: 23, November 7th -- BIRTH PLACE: Capeside -- ORIENTATION: Heterosexual -- OCCUPATION & SCHOOL GRADE: Artist -- PLAYED BY: Deborah Ann Woll
-- PERSONALITY !
-- SOCIAL BUTTERFLY: Jo can make friends with anyone. She loves to socialize and has a magnetic nature that makes people just love her. She is by no means shy and has no hesitation to start conversations and learn things about people. Jo can't stand the idea of having an enemy and goes to great lengths to make sure that everyone loves her. When she was younger she would wish her classmates a happy new school year by going to their doorsteps and personally giving them homemade goodies. It was hard not to smile when you realized how eager she was to please. However, Jo is not a pushover. She's far from a pushover, actually. While she loves to make people happy she is also very aware of her own feelings and has learned to put her happiness above others when it comes down to the nitty gritty. -- ARSTY: Ever since she was a little girl, Jo has always expressed herself through art. Nothing makes her happier than to just relax in her art studio and paint. And by art studio I mean a room in her apartment. She, like any good artist, can find the best in the world. Pinpointing the most beautiful things to paint can also apply to personal life and finding people that will better you in life. Jo wishes that she could paint the world in beautiful colors but she knows that her wishes are far fetched. Instead of wishing for the impossible, she tries her best to go into the world and look at it from an artist's perspective. Being artsy is also somewhat of a setback for her because of her tendency to overlook the obvious and over analyze everything. -- INDEPENDENT: Growing up with her parents gone most of the time, Jo learned to depend on herself. She knows how to take care of herself and does so well. She's extremely stubborn and won't let anyone help her: she wants to do everything herself. She wants to make her own money, buy her own clothes, and do her own laundry to show the world that she is indeed strong just like her parents. She's very much into supporting herself and won't let her mother pay a dime for her bills. Jo would have to be homeless to even think about asking for help. She doesn't appreciate people trying to do things for her, even if they're trying to be nice. To Jo, there's a fine line between niceties and trying to do things for her because she seems like a delicate flower.
-- LOVES: painting, home cooked meals, drawing, alternative music, bargain shopping, movie marathons, romantic scenes, having friends, talking, apple pie, swimming -- HATES: bugs, long movies, alarm clocks, liars, ignorance, internet cafes, fast food, scary movies, hate, loneliness, eating dinner alone
-- HISTORY !
Jo's life was basically decided before she was born. Not exactly her life, but how it would be lived. Her parents, John and Teresa were both members of the army, and therefore Jo was an army brat. Most army brats are constantly moved from place to place, as was the case with Jo. She was born in Capeside, but ended up living in many different towns throughout the course of her life. However, it didn't matter where she lived because the Bellamy's were a very tight knit family and loved each other. From an early age, Jo was showered with affection and constantly told how much she was loved. Whenever one of her parents left, the other would constantly rave about whomever was gone and much they missed Jo, and she always believed it. From an early age, Jo was interested in art and her parents encouraged her drawings and paintings.
For some army brats, moving from place to place can be damaging to their growth or development- but not for Jo. It was so easy for her to make friends that she had many different friends in all of the cities that she lived in and didn't mind when they moved because her family was still together. Jo was especially close to her father and looked up to him. He taught her how to do many things herself and how to live on her own. He knew that Jo was a strong girl, but he wanted to do everything he could to protect her. It was the usual fatherly activities- intimidating her prom date, teaching her how to change a tire, and so forth.
When Jo was a junior in high school her family had moved back to Capeside and she decided that she was going to attend college there. Her junior year was also the year that she met her high school sweetheart, a man still in her life today. However, later in that year her life fell apart. She and her mother were doing dishes and dancing around the kitchen when they received the news that her father had been killed in combat. Jo was devastated. She had lost the closest person in her life and she felt that everything had fallen apart.
However, about a month after her father died she found out that her boyfriend had been cheating on her. Before her father's death, Jo would have taught him a lesson and gotten rid of him but she needed someone. She made the biggest mistake of her life and kept him around, although she did know about his infidelity. She went to college in Capeside and eventually broke it off with him. After college, she has been spending time trying to make it as an artist- somewhat successfully. She's surviving, but not thriving.
