-- EMMETT GRADY O'CONNELL !
-- NAME: Emmett Grady O'Connell -- NICKNAMES: Em, Emmy, O'Connell. -- AGE & BIRTHDAY: Twenty five, October 31. -- BIRTH PLACE: Glasgow. -- ORIENTATION: Heterosexual. -- OCCUPATION & SCHOOL GRADE: Graphic novelist. -- PLAYED BY: Colin Morgan.
-- PERSONALITY !
-- CHEERFUL: No matter where he goes or what he does, Emmett O'Connell almost always does it with a smile. He doesn't see a point in doing something you hate, especially if you've got a bad attitude about it. Em has found that if he isn't trying to be positive, he and everyone else around him gets dragged down in his slump, which has happened a lot. Maybe it isn't all real; maybe a lot of the time he has to force that smile on his face, but at least he's trying to make a difference. He's always pleasant to everyone he meets, at the very least. He isn't particularly outgoing, but he most certainly isn't shy, either.
-- CHILDLIKE: Not to say that he is really naive, but Emmett is a very kind, curious, and spontaneous young adult. He doesn't think things through a lot of the time, he does what he likes to do and stubbornly, won't let anyone dictate it. Emmett always has his head in the clouds. Usually, what it's doing up there is mapping out a new novel, but he has been found to think about other things as well. Though, with an occupation such as his, you would really have to be rather creative, or else he'd be out of a job. He asks questions almost compulsively, likes to know what makes things tick and why, which a lot of people seem to find rather annoying. Emmett may not seem like someone who really cares what you think of him, but he's really quite self conscious and thinks a lot about other peoples opinions of him, though you'd never catch him admitting it.
-- WILLFUL: Emmett knows what he wants, and he is not easily swayed otherwise. He's really rather stubborn, he hates being told what to do and criticism - even sometimes constructive criticism, if he doesn't agree with it - he doesn't handle very well, he doesn't necessarily throw a fit or anything, but he doesn't listen and if he has the chance, he'll run away from it, too. Emmett is more of a follower than a leader, but if he doesn't want to do something, he won't, and if there are consequences, he'll take them. Emmett's free will is his very most prized possession, and he will never give it up, no matter what.
-- LOVES: drawing, writing, games, randomness, sarcasm, Halloween, research, snow, Ireland, comedy. -- HATES: being called a child, criticism, being told what to do, hot dogs, the idea of a desk job, hot weather, when he gets animal hair all over his clothes, oatmeal, stereotypes, grudges.
-- HISTORY !
Emmett Grady O'Connell was born in Glasgow, Ireland, almost twenty six years ago. He was the second child born to Sarah and Thomas O'Connell, the first being his older sister, Emily. Emily was the pride and joy of Sarah and Thomas. Emmett wasn't entirely ignored, but he definitely was not planned. And Emily never let him forget it. After all, she was older, she was smarter, she was musically talented, she shoved it in his face. Emmett's greatest talents were in drawing and acting, but drawing was his one true love. He did enjoy the drama club, however, and he caught a lot of big roles in his freshman high school plays. Only a third of those his parents and sister made it to, but he didn't mind, they only made him more nervous: what if he sucked and no one had the heart to tell him? His family certainly would have, but when they did manage to come they didn't say a word about his performance. He always supposed that meant he was good and they didn't want him to get his hopes up.
Emmett was sixteen, a sophomore, when his parents sent him to boarding school in America. Boston, to be exact. His sister was already graduated, and his parents just didn't want to deal with him anymore, and so they sent him off. And Emmett was a little hurt that they never sent off Emily but as soon as he was the only one in high school they sent him away. But he didn't make a big deal about it, because he was glad enough to go explore a new country by himself. At least he wasn't completely under their clutches anymore.
He didn't go completely wild and crazy and go out and do everything they never let him do before, but he did end up doing a lot of things he had been previously forbidden to. In his opinion, they were the ones that sent him off in the first place, practically sending him off to fend for himself, he got to make his own rules. After graduating high school, he decided to stay in America for college, Capeside college, to be exact. Soon after graduating was he published as a graphic novelist, and he has been living with his friends ever since.
He barely keeps contact with his family, except on holidays because he feels guilty, but they rarely male the effort to see or speak to him, so he doesn't feel too bad about it most of the time.
