[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,310,true] Ruby bit her bottom lip. She knew that lately, she hadn’t been a very good friend. She hadn’t done anything to hurt Lillian or anything like that. She’d just been.. Well rather pre-occupied with her own life and hadn’t spent much time with the brunette. The thing was, she just hadn’t thought she’d be very good company for her friend. She’d been so messed up over what had happened with Bradley, that Ruby hadn’t been herself. She’d been, if that was even possible, more quiet than usual. Her mind running things over and over. Not that she’d ever be able to make sense of it all. Bradley made sure of that. Once she thought she had it figured out he’d do something to confuse her again.
Ruby needed to stop letting him have such a hold on her- she knew that. It was harder than it seemed, but she was going to try. First step? Girly night with Lillian. Perhaps it would even make up for Ruby’s distant behaviour. The blonde hoped so, because she loved her best friend dearly. They were in a lot of ways complete opposites, but that’s what made them the perfect pair in Ruby’s opinion. So, armed with Peach Sherbet, two plastic spoons, and the DVD ‘Dirty Dancing’, Ruby knocked on her best friend’s door.

Life without Ruby was sad and lonely.
At least for someone like Lilian. She wasn’t swimming with friends. She wished she could play the card that she didn’t know why she didn’t have a whole lot of people wanting to be around her, but unfortunately, she knew all too well that she was obnoxious. It wasn’t that she didn’t try, because she did. Her only problem was that she sometimes didn’t think before speaking or doing… Well, anything. That was her main issue. She knew it. She also talked a lot, but she had a lot to say! There wasn’t a crime in that. But apparently it was annoying. Who would’ve thought?
Ruby dealt with her, though. Lily appreciated that. Except lately, she hadn’t seen nearly as much of her best friend. Sure, most of their interaction was her talking and Ruby listening, but Lilian sensed that the other girl was even more distant than usual. In all honesty, that frightened her. Was the one person who was able to put up with her obnoxious behavior trying to separate their friendship? She wasn’t sure she could handle that. It was for this reason that she was ten times more excited than normal at the prospect of a girl’s night. Everything was set. Her room was clean (well, as always), she had a collection of DVDs out by the television in her bedroom, as well as junk food stocked in the refrigerator downstairs. She wasn’t really sure what the night would bring, but she had hopes that it would be fun. Like normal.
The doorbell rang and Lilian shot downstairs, flinging open the door with a bright smile on her face. ”Ruby!” she greeted, stepping forward and pulling her best friend into a tight hug. ”I’m glad you’re here.”

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,310,true] Ruby felt a smile tug on her lip as her best friend opened the door. It was so good to see her, it really was. Why hadn’t she planned a night like this with the brunette weeks ago? It would have surely made her feel at least a little better about everything that was going on. Opening up her arms, she welcomed the other girl into a warm hug. “It’s so good to see you too.” She breathed in. Hugging Lillian carefully while trying not to drop the DVD and frozen desert in her hands. Resting her head on Lillian’s shoulder, Ruby let the hug last for longer than it really needed to, but she needed to affection from the other girl, and Ruby knew she wouldn’t be denied.
Pulling away from the hug, Ruby stepped inside. (They’d gone past waiting to be invited in hadn’t they?) Holding out the plastic bag containing the treats to Lillian, she grinned at the other girl. “I brought you something... Sure it may be my favourite flavour... still though?”

The longer the hug continued, the more Lilian felt herself melt into the embrace. To say that she cherished the attention and affection from her best friend was a bit of an understatement. In all honesty, Lily placed more faith and attention in Ruby than what was probably healthy. But could she really be blamed? Not a whole lot of people truly liked her. She was abrasive and she knew that, no matter how unfortunate it may be. But Ruby was incredible. Just as she went to bury her face in her friend's shoulder, however, the embrace was broken and Ruby was shoving a bag in her direction.
Cocking her head to the side curiously, she opened it up and peered inside, breaking out into another wide grin. "I have to admit, the flavor's grown on me quite a bit since befriending you," she commented, letting out a quick laugh, "It's perfect. Come on. Do you want anything else from the kitchen? I'm going to grab a couple of spoons and then we can go upstairs. I try not to often indulge in fattening foods such as ice cream, but I feel like tonight's a special occasion. Plus, it sounds really good right now." Without waiting for a response (figuring Ruby knew to just follow and talk if she really did want something), Lily turned on her heel and headed to the kitchen.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,310,true] Ruby cracked a grin at her best friend’s words. You didn’t get to become best friends with Ruby without embracing all things peach. Peach cobbler, Peach tea, Princess Peach.. They were all some of her favourite things. “That’s because Peach is the best flavour in the world.” She said with a nod, as though that sealed the deal completely. Of course, Ruby was well aware that not everyone shared her obsession with the fruit, but still. Lillian appreciated and even embraced the obsession, so Ruby didn’t have to worry about that much at all. That was part of what made them such good friends. They both accepted every part of the other.
“Alright.” Ruby smiled as she followed her best friend into the kitchen. She didn’t really need much from the kitchen really. Maybe after she’d had her fill of Sherbet the blonde may raid the kitchen for more junk-food, but for now she was good. Ruby hovered by the door as the other girl got the spoons before turning and heading towards the stairs. She’d been to Lillian’s house enough times to know her way around after all. “So.. What’s new? I haven’t spoken to you in ages. I miss my Lily-pad.”

Lily rummaged in the silverware drawer for a moment before pulling out two forks, the smile still plastered to her face as she turned her attention back to Ruby. ”I have to admit, I’m quite fond of orange. But peach is also a wonderful flavor, so I can understand why you like it so much. I’m glad you have good taste.” Nodding her head, she started back towards the staircase, slipping up past her friend. She grabbed Ruby’s hand, tugging her along as she made her way up the stairs.
Her stomach clenched a little (in a good way) with the use of the nickname, waiting until she hit the landing to turn and answer. ”Oh, loads,” responded Lilian, waving her hands in the air to add emphasis. ”Homework and college stuff is bogging me down. And I had an audition yesterday. It went really well. I mean, of course it went really well. I wasn’t worried about it. I’m certain I got the part, but callbacks are Tuesday so we’ll see after that.” One thing she was definitely over confident about in her life was her ability to sing and act. She was used to getting parts that she wanted and she didn’t think that anyone up against her was really competition. She liked being the star. Lily would probably end up having quite a rude awakening once she hit New York, but for now? The spotlight was her friend.
”And how about you? I’ve missed you, a lot.” She turned on her heel, then, and headed into her bedroom, flipping on the light and flopping onto the bed.
