-- ERIN NICHOLE ALVIN !
-- NAME: Erin Nichole Alvin -- NICKNAMES: E-N -- AGE & BIRTHDAY: Seventeen; May 16th -- BIRTH PLACE: New York City, New York -- ORIENTATION: Heterosexual -- OCCUPATION & SCHOOL GRADE: High school junior/11th; unemployed -- PLAYED BY: Lily Collins
-- PERSONALITY !
-- GUARDED: Erin has always had her guard up, ever since she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of 7, later than most common cases. Many of her friends at school thought she was a freak and would catch her cancer if they stayed around her, so they avoided her. Since then, Erin has kept her guard up and keeps to herself much of the time.
-- CARING: Erin's brush with death from her diagnosis with cancer has made her realize that everything isn't always going to be okay, and though she may think that life sucks sometimes, she knows that others have it worse than she does. In her spare time, Erin spends a lot of time with various charities and will help any most anyone she sees in need of help.
-- JEALOUS: Though she knows others are in worse situations than her, Erin can't help but be easily jealous of those who have things she's never had or always wanted...particularly guys. Erin hates that she's so easily jealous and has tried her best to get rid of it, but it keeps creeping back in.
-- SMART: This may sound boastful, but Erin is quite smart. She began homeschooling at the age of 8 and stayed with it until moving to Capeside at the age of 14. She found being able to move at her own pace helped her to excel and learned more than most other students in those 6 years.
-- FUN LOVING: Erin may be very guarded with herself, but when she's alone or with those she knows well, she is totally crazy and fun. Singing, dancing, and just generally goofing off are some of her favorite past times, but you'll only find her rocking out around a couple people or with her doors shut tight.
-- LOVES: music, friends, boys, school, food, new york, movies, reading, any form of normalcy, her iPhone (she's a 17-year-old girl after all!) -- HATES: going to the hospital/doctor, being judged, mean-spirited people, those who think they're better than everyone else, vegetables, anything that makes her cry (movies, people, etc), feeling trapped (form of claustrophobia), being unable to fall asleep
-- HISTORY !
You could start at Erin's birth, but doesn't every history? So, instead, I'll start at the point when it matters. New York City, 10 years ago, a seven-year-old fell ill and was diagnosed with a common form of blood cancer in youths, except she was a few years older than most were diagnosed and she was also a lot more sick. That little girl was Erin Nichole Alvin and she was given 6 months to live at the ripe age of 7. But miracles happen and Erin is still alive, cancer-free for 10 years. That's the quick version of the most important time in this girl's life, but a lot of what shaped her requires more details.
When Erin was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, she was attending one of the many public schools in Manhattan, her home. The other students in the school, not really understanding what was wrong with the brunette, called her "weird" and didn't want to be around her, thinking that cancer was contagious. A couple months passed and Erin's parents pull her from school and began homeschooling her, often traveling between their Manhattan home and a summer home in Capeside, Mass.
Even after being cancer-free, Erin continued homeschooling and summering in Capeside as she had her entire life. At 14, she asked to return to school, but in Capeside, which after much pleading, her parents obliged and she began attending high school in Massachusetts. Many people knew about Erin's past, but only a few in Capeside were there for everything and those are the ones she's trusted and depended on the past 3 years.
Two years ago, there was a scare during a check-up and the doctors believed that the leukemia had returned and Erin knew that it would mean death if she was sick again. But the entire Alvin family were blessed and it was only a mix-up on the monitors. But Erin knows that any time it could actually return, and she'll be gone.
-- SAMPLE !
Erin sat on the edge of her bed; staring out the window. Not at anything in particular, she was more so just staring and not seeing. She'd been lucky, but fear still clouded every thought in her mind, every word on her lips. Erin Alvin was still cancer-free, but for how long? When it comes back, will it kill me? passed through the station on her train of thought hundreds of times a day. Finally, Erin shook her head as if it would knock all the fear and dread away, and stood from the queen-sized mattress. Fresh air...that'll help. Erin tried to convince herself as she walked down the hall, down the steps, and out the front door.
She had no clue where she wanted to go, but looking up and down her street, she decided the Capeside Mall was as good as any, though it would probably be quite crowded on a Saturday afternoon like today. Doesn't matter. Maybe people will help. she convinced herself and began walking. The walk wasn't short, but Erin needed fresh air to clear her head and the sights to distract her, so exercise it was.
Trees and houses and shops passed by the then fifteen-year-old as she walked and Erin found something to distract her mind every few minutes until she reached the Mall and began people-watching, one of her and her mom's favorite activities in New York when the doctors would let her out of the hospital for the afternoon. Many of the people were the same here in Capeside, but they still could capture Erin's attention and she'd come up with crazy stories in her mind over why that woman had a leopard print purse, or why that guy had that haircut.
During her people watching was when Erin spotted him. The guy that every girl at Capeside High would kill to have even look at her. He was with only two of his jock friends today and they were checking out every hot girl that walked past as they chucked french fries at each other. Pigs...but so gorgeous. Erin thought as she tried not to be too obvious with her looking. She didn't normally like boys like him, but he was an exception that could destroy any girl's normal "type," and Erin Alvin was no exception. Then, he saw her and smiled. Erin was on top of the world, but it sounded like an alarm was going off; constant buzzing that sounded just like the alarm clock on Erin's nightstand.
Erin's arm reached over and hit the button to make her alarm shut off as she rolled herself up in the comforter. Sweet and sour dreams are always wonderful. she thought as she rubbed her eyes and slipped her glasses onto her face so she could see.
An hour later, Erin Alvin was parking her car in front of Capeside High in her assigned space and turning the key as the engine stopped purring and silenced. Another Monday morning.

- You need to expand on your personality traits. Two or three sentences isn’t really a paragraph. - Make sure you consider who she is despite her past, not just because of it - Usually in pros, you type out the numbers, for instance instead of 5, you say five - Your history lacks any details other than her cancer, and doesn’t even really go into that much. On the cancer note, please do some research, because my simple google search just now contradicts some of the things you have said about it. My main concern with this character is that everything will be about her illness. If you are going to create a character like this, you need balance. Cancer patients do everything they can not to let it consume them.
