[/color][/b] he sighed with relief and hugged his daughter again. He kissed the top of her head. The thought of one of those Irish thugs touching her was revolting enough. He couldn't even form the thought of his daughter's innocence being taken away from her. Giovanni was glad that it was just a few punches. "I want Dr. Richards to take a look at you anyway, okay? Did they give you anything? Did they drug you? I just want to make sure that they didn't do any other damages that may not be visible." Giovanni made sure that he kept his daughter far away from that crap. It was one thing to sell it to other kids and drug users, but it was just business. He couldn't be concern for those people when he has his own daughter to care for. The last thing he wanted was to have any type of drugs in her system. He knew all too well just how addictive they could be.-- SARAH EVELYN HARRINGTON !

-- WITTY: It's no secret that Sarah's smart. She was always at the top of her class in high school, undergraduate, and graduate school. Sarah could have become a university professor, but decided to shape young minds in secondary school. However, she's not only book smart, but she's very clever and creative. Sarah can be sarcastic and enjoys a good witty banter. Her zingers are original and funny that you can't help but not be offended. However, her humor and witty comments are really used to hide her true emotions. Most people don't know about Sarah's emotional breakdown ten years ago. They always assume she's had this sunny disposition and optimistic approach to life. However, that could not be more far from the truth.

It could be annoying for some people who don't appreciate her laize faire approach to life. It's starting to effect her job, but she's been an effective teachers and students love her. So, the principal didn't have any grounds to fire Sarah just yet. Her lifestyle is also starting to make her restless.
-- INSECURE: When Sarah was a teenager, she was confident, smart, and optimistic. However, during her senior year in high school, Sarah stretched herself too thing and had an emotional and mental breakdown. It changed her and she had been trying to return to her old self. Her confidence has been shot. Her ambitions and drive was gone. She didn't have time to recover when she started college and struggled to stay on top of things. Sarah used to be self-confident, on the edge of conceited, but now she finds it hard to deal with people's negative perspectives on her. Therefore, she tries really hard to make people like her. She feels everyone is always judging her and they're not being honest with her. Her insecurities have lessen since her breakdown, but she still have her moments of insecurity, not that she allows anyone to see that.

Born and raised in Capeside, Sarah had a very normal life. Her parents were high school sweethearts who married after graduating high school. Her mother became a nurse and her father fixes boats at the dock. They had four children: Harrison, Justin, Sarah, and Lacey. Sarah got along with her siblings and her parents. The closest thing Sarah had to teenage rebellion was when she snuck out of the house to see a movie with her friends on a school night. Sarah was usually by the book. People liked her because there was nothing to hate about her. She may have appeared to be perfect, but she didn't act like she was. Her brothers were athletes, school heroes, and she was constantly in their shadows. However, she was able to step out with her academics.
Sarah was very much involved with school groups, tutoring, volunteer work, and even had a part time job after school. Many people had high hopes for Sarah. They all expected her to move out of Capeside and make something of herself. However, during her senior year in high school, Sarah went through an emotional and mental breakdown. She lost a lot of weight and sleep near the end of the school year. There was no pressure from her parents or peers to be this perfect person, but she placed the pressure on herself. She couldn't take it and eventually fell into a deep depression. Luckily, the school year was over and Sarah could hide away in her room all summer. Unfortunately, Sarah had college in the fall and she knew that she had to get better. No matter what she did or how she tried, Sarah couldn't bring herself to feel "normal" again. She had changed and she knew there was no way going back.
The time off from life allowed Sarah to re-evaluate her life. She realized she had been stressing out about all the little things. Eventually, she learned to strip away any excess things from her life. She went to a very good college in Rhode Island and tried to live a life. She learned to have fun and actually had her first boyfriend there. She partied (but not too hard), took random road trips, and made a lot of friends. However, in her last semester, as she watched her friends get jobs or go onto graduate school, Sarah realized she hadn't planned for the future. She was too busy trying to enjoy herself that she didn't have time to stop and think about her next step. But that was something her high school self would have done. It was time for her to just roll with the punches. Her grades were high and her history professor suggested she go for a higher degree. She applied, was accepted, and attended.
It was during her time at graduate school that she met Bryan. He was perfect. They dated for about a year and a half before it finally fell apart. It was only when she was with Bryan did she feel like her old self again. Things were good while she was with Bryan. So, when they broke up, it completely tore her apart. She couldn't remember the reason why they called it quits, but she just chalked it up to them growing apart. However, she hadn't been able to find another person like him, though she had been trying to. Whenever she catches herself alone with her thoughts or wants to think of the "good times" her thoughts always travels back to Bryan and their times together.
When she finished school, she returned to Capeside and became a high school teacher. If Sarah couldn't go back to the good times with Bryan, the least she could do was go back to the other good times she had when she was in high school. She easily found a job at her old high school because the principal still remembered her. And, so, she had been teaching at Capeside High for the past four years.-- SAMPLE !
"That's my girl,"[/b] he said, smiling and kissed her again. Carina was stubborn. She got that from him. Maybe he didn't have anything to worry about. Maybe she could handle herself. Either way, he didn't want Carina to have gone through this horrible ordeal. His mind was working on what he could do to hurt the McLaughlin family. Maybe Giovanni should kidnap McLaughlin's boy and allow McLaughlin feel the horrible dread he went through.
Carina looked up and he knew that she was expecting more people would come and greet her for her homecoming. However, she had asked everyone to stay away. He wanted to talk to Carina first, to debrief her, before they all go see her and ask her questions. He wanted to ask them first. "You can see Tristan and Bianca later. They're home right now, waiting for you. You might want to clean up first, though." Giovanni stood up to ask one of the men for the status of Dr. Richards. He was on his way. Good. The doctor knew that when Giovanni called on you, you drop everything and come right away. He returned to a seat next to Carina and brushed her hair out of her face. She looked so much like her mother.
When Carina brought up about weapons, his heart sank. Giovanni did his best to keep his face straight. For the past few years, he had worked hard to keep her in the dark. It was easy to keep things from Carina when she was just a little girl. But, as she got older, it was harder to keep things from her. When her best friend and boyfriend worked for him, it was even more difficult. Giovanni couldn't stand this. He looked away from Carina and stood up. He walked over to the window, sighed deeply, and wiped his face with his hand before resting his hand on his hips. How did they know about the weapons from Mexico? Giovanni thought he was careful enough to keep that a secret. There had to be another way for them to know about this operation. Was there a spy? Was there a snitch amongst their ranks? "Carina, you don't have to worry yourself about this stuff, okay," he said, turning to look at her. "You're home now. And, that's all that matters. I'll take care of it. What else did they ask you about?" How much did the Irish know? He walked back and took a seat next to her.
Damnit, he swore silently. How did they know so much? They even knew about Marino. She had been compromised. He had to call her in to make sure that she's careful. "Carina..." What was he supposed to say to her? How could he explain these things to her without divulging her too much information. Andrea didn't want Carina stuck in this world, and he had done his best to keep her safe and naive. But, he knew there would be a day when he couldn't keep all of this from her. Giovanni didn't have any other heir. Carina would have to be the one to take over. Of course, she wouldn't be taking on any of the dirty work herself. There would be other people doing all of that for her. However, she would have to run the whole operation, keep the DeLuca name out there for people to fear.
A touch of her hand brought Giovanni out of his thoughts. His facial expression soften as he looked at her. Here was his little girl who was definitely all grown up. The look of disappointment on her face hit him in the gut hard. Giovanni sighed deeply again. He took a moment to figure out what to say to her. Should he tell her everything now? Should he give it to her in pieces? Was she ready to handle the truth and nothing but the truth? The door opened and the food had finally arrived. The server pushed the cart into a dead silent room. He placed a plate of lasagna with mixed vegetables on the side. Then, he poured Carina a glass of soda. Giovanni nodded to signal the server to leave. This actually bought him some time to think a few things through. Maybe it was time to tell Carina some things, but keep the major details out. She was eighteen after all. Soon enough, she would have to start picking things up.
"Carina...I kept you in the dark for your own sake. You have to understand that much. After what happened to your mother, I couldn't, in good conscious, let you know too much. You're all I have left of your mother and I can't let anything happen to you." Giovanni could only hope that after he told her what he had to tell her, she wouldn't change her opinion on him. He liked thinking that she looked at him as some kind of hero. But, he was far from being a hero. In fact, most people thought of him as a monster. "Carina, I would like to think you're not so naive that you don't know anything about what I do. This family business that I'm involved in helped put a roof over your head. It paid for all those fancy name brand clothes you buy all the time. The hotel, the nice suite, all of this was because of the business I'm in. The same business that you might have to take over one day." Giovanni thought that if he could preface his explanation with this, she might not be so willing to jump to the wrong conclusions.
"And, the line of work this family has been involved in require us to protect ourselves. You should know from your own experience how much we need to protect each other. The weapons were just a mean of protecting ourselves. Bianca is your bodyguard. You know she's trained to do whatever it means to protect you. Sometimes, Carina, it's us or them. Survival of the fittest. People are going to get hurt, some more worst than others." Giovanni wasn't sure if he wanted to tell his daughter that they killed people in cold-blood. She wouldn't understand. It was a necessity this business called for. The DeLuca family would have never gone as far as they had without taking down a few people. "Baby, you can't worry your self about this right now, okay? You just go home. I promise one day we'll talk about this in greater details. But, I don't think it would be good for you right now to hear about the family business just yet." Giovanni leaned in and hugged Carina gently and kissed her forehead again. He hoped this was sufficient enough. He hoped that she wouldn't press him for more information, but knowing how she is, he was pretty sure she might.
