-- ERIKA JADE SCHMIDT !
-- NAME: erika jade schmidt -- NICKNAMES: eri -- AGE & BIRTHDAY: eighteen, february first -- BIRTH PLACE: capside, massachusetts -- ORIENTATION: heterosexual -- OCCUPATION & SCHOOL GRADE: senior -- PLAYED BY: ashley greene
-- PERSONALITY !
-- GOOD-HUMORED: Erika is one of those girls who are easy to tolerate. You have her good-humored nature to thank for that one. Erika keeps a mildly optimistic view on the world. She’s able to set aside differences or a misunderstanding for the common welfare of people around her. It’s common courtesy, her mother reminded her. Erika understands constructive criticism happens. She gets it all the time in her athletics and education. They key to being good-natured is the ability to let things go. Holding grudges does nothing but cause drama. Drama causes stress. Stress causes blemishes. Do you really want blemishes due to holding a simple grudge? No, I didn’t think so. Erika also knows how to take a joke. She has to be able to by default. She often dishes out sarcastic or witty remarks to tease those she knows. In order to dish it out, she is required to know how to take it. Let’s face it. If you can serve it, but you won’t eat it, that’s a pretty hypocritical action all in itself. Her sense of understanding of the world aids her in the terms of popularity. Now, this isn’t her number one obsession on a probably nonexistent list of goals (she’s impulsive, remember?), but she does believe knowing a large range of people is beneficial in the long run. Between the many activities she’s tried and even random people on the street, Erika can definitely be labeled as a good natured social butterfly.
-- ATHLETIC: Being athletic doesn’t come overnight. It hadn’t for Erika, either. To obtain this trait, Erika had to work at it. Already, she had an advantage by her athletic mindset, but even then it was a process. She isn’t even thoroughly interested in a handful of sports. Golf and baseball are two sports she’d never see herself enjoying because they’re rather drab. She finds herself to excel in sports that interest her such as basketball and soccer. Through the sports, she’s able to radiate a kind of passion in which she uses to keep up her morale. She’s always learning new things, too. She’s open to new techniques, new moves, and new strategies because she knows she has a lot to learn. You may have heard this before, but most of it came down to practice, practice, practice. It’s a repetitive term, I’ll admit. Too bad it works so damn well. Practicing among eating healthier, working out to building muscle, and being open to constructive criticism really is all Erika needs to continue to do as well as she can in athletics. Her father’s support of athletics is also a major factor. She’ll watch it with him. Football, hockey, soccer, cricket; you name it, and they’ll watch it. Going to live games is also a fun time between she and her father. Watching pros helps Erika in many ways, also.
-- STUBBORN: Mixed with her impulsive nature, we have a code red. Erika has strong emotions towards things she loves. Often times she’s so in love with an idea, she won’t ever give it up. She’s very precise when it comes to what she wants. If you don’t agree with what she wants to do, fine. You can go without her. She’ll stand by her gut instinct over logic any day. If it feels right off the bat, then it’s most likely right. There’s really no possible way to change her mind once she’s set on something. You can’t talk her out of it. You can’t make her negotiate. What she wants is what she wants unless you take extreme measures to change her mind. Bribes and promises of something delicious usually do a fine trick. When people cave in and agree with what she wants, she promises them it wasn’t a waste of their time. After all, her idea was the best there was. Even if she caves into your idea, she’ll most likely refer back to her own along the way. No matter how far convinced you have her, she’ll always remain set on hers being the best for everyone. Sometimes her stubborn personality shoos people away, but she’s usually clever enough to keep them coming back. She knows her limits. It certainly doesn’t control or dominate her life. In fact, it’s just a major part of it.
-- IMPULSIVE: What Erika lacks is conscious thought. Some people think with their head. Some people think with their heart. Others begin to think with their gut. Erika is the latter. Once an idea comes to her mind, she usually sticks with it. It’s an easy slice of decision, that’s for sure. Decision making has never been a strong point for the brunette. Or rather, the decision of wise choices has never been a strong point for her. This trait is probably one of her biggest downfalls. Since she lacks the ability to properly think her decisions through, she’s often left making a wrong move. While she’s shopping, her eye might catch on something she might absolutely need at the time. Of course, she’ll buy it out of impulse. Whether she regrets it or not later can be dependent on many contributing factors. These include, but are not limited to, price, storage, and even accessorizing. If she doesn’t have a reasonable amount of money to spare, she’ll find herself short of money. If she doesn’t have room to store it, she’ll find herself in a cluttered mess. If she doesn’t consider accessorizing, she might not have a single thing to wear with the certain object she just had to have. Shopping is just one example out of the many, many environments in which her action upon impulse can backfire.

-- HISTORY !
Erika is a winter baby, whether she likes it or not. She was conceived at 6:54 on February first of the year nineteen ninety-three. Her mother, Desiray Ann Schmidt, was twenty-four at the time whilst her father, Arther Eugen Schmidt, was twenty-nine. The mere age difference of five years seemed perfectly regular for the two. Arther and Desiray had resided in Capeside, Massachusetts for their entire lives. Desiray made a living out of teaching while Arther preferred the role as an army official. During her toddlerhood, Erika saw a lot of her father. Since he was unemployed when he wasn’t on tour, he often spent afternoons with her. Arther was a jolly old man despite a select few of the things he’d experienced in war. The same good-natured humor and optimism ultimately rubbed off on his daughter. Arther had also experienced an athletic background. By introducing athletics to her life, Erika was able to grasp them at a young age and continuously build upon her skill. Fortunately, she took advantage of the opportunity. She began playing soccer when she was about five years old. She liked it enough, and her father had an easy access considering one of his high school buddies was the coach of the toddler league in a program for youth soccer players.
By the time Erika was nearly eight years old, her personality was shaped to resemble her modern day outlook. Along with her good sense of humor and athletic talent, she’d been revealed as a type of impulsive child. Rather than thinking her actions thoroughly through, the child acted upon a moment’s thought. To be honest, it landed her in a lot of trouble. She’d go off on her own in a large store, scaring her mother to death. She’d do almost anything to get what someone else had to be hers. She began trying new things out just because she thought it would be cool. Acting? Well, let’s just say it wasn’t her kind of hobby. Acting became boring within a few days’ time. How about golfing? Yes, that lasted a few hours before she complained of it being an old person’s sport. Baking also didn’t meet her fancy. Do you get the idea? In the end, her heart laid with athletics. She continued further with soccer and picked up basketball. As soon as she tried the sport, she was hooked. She went through this tomboy phase. She wore the baggy jeans. Her hair was rarely combed. She played in the mud. She basically rolled with the boys in her grade. It made pristine sense to her. Everything seemed moderately hunky dory until September 11, 2001.
When the terrorists crashed into the twin towers, Erika was nine years old. In third grade, the girl knew little and understood even less of the circumstances. She did know the experience took away her father for a long time. After the attack, Arther was determined to serve his country better than before. He signed onto a draft and it wasn’t long until the army licked him right up. It was the longest time Erika had been without her father. She missed him during those four years. Her mother was able to handle their bills and groceries. Nothing really changed except for the lack of yelling when the Super Bowl was on or college basketball season came about. Desiray was worried it’d affect her daughter’s wellbeing. Growing into a teenager was the most important part of a girl’s life, Desiray thought. Erika’s tenth, eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth birthdays passed. Her father returned on her fourteenth birthday. It was the best present she had ever received. He promised her he would never leave her for that long again. She believed him. Her father was a man true to his word. She knew, deep down, Arther wouldn’t let her down.
When it came to school, Erika wasn’t nearly the brightest kid in the class. On the other hand, she wasn’t the worst, either. She was right dab in the middle. She passed elementary school with easy A’s, B’s, and the occasional C. Her work was moderate, though she focused more on athletics more than anything else. Basketball and soccer was a majority of her life. This proved to be truer as she entered junior high school. Both years—seventh and eighth—she tried out for the basketball team and made it. Playing on a team taught her sportsmanship, something Arther had only briefly touched up on. High school was a different story altogether. High school was a new experience altogether. She indulged in it, forgetting briefly her values in life. The boys caught her off guard. The gossip drove her mind crazy. The possibilities screamed her name louder than a crowd of adoring fans. Her grades slipped in the freshman year. When she went to play in the last game of the basketball season, she was illegible due to her poor grades. It was about them she received the whole ‘Athletics is a privilege. Your education is your ultimate priority” kind of lecture. She put more effort into her schoolwork the following years. She dated, she studied, she played basketball and soccer. It was a routine of the sorts. Not much even changed when she and ‘Jessie’ began dating. He just was another one of those routines, but one she enjoyed almost as much as basketball or soccer. She’s been dating him ever since.
