-- ISOBEL DAWN SULLIVAN !
-- NAME: Isobel Dawn Sullivan -- NICKNAMES: Issy, Is, Bel, Bels, Sulley -- AGE & BIRTHDAY: Seventeen, August 1st -- BIRTH PLACE: Seattle, Washington. -- ORIENTATION: Heterosexual -- OCCUPATION & SCHOOL GRADE: Highschool senior; works part-time in a toy store. -- PLAYED BY: Ellen Page
-- PERSONALITY !
-- TRUSTING: Issy has this compulsion to assume people are always, always being honest and that they mean well when she meets them, and trying think the best of people- even when it sometimes isn't the wise choice in a situation. She doesn't hold grudges for the most part, and would probably give someone a thousand second chances if she believed they were worth those chances. It isn't hard to earn her trust- if she thinks you're a good person (which is most people), you'll probably have it pretty quickly. She's a little naive too, and doesn't always think things through because she's so willing to trust that a person is telling her the truth. Being suspcious of people is unusual for her for the same reason; she just assumes people are truthful and doesn't often question it.
-- IMPULSIVE: Snap decisions are the norm for this girl, and once she's decided that she wants something, she'll do her best to make sure it happens, be it seeing a DVD she wants or deciding to skip school and hang out with people at the park. She can be incredibly stubborn once her mind is set on these things, and the only way it'll ever be swayed is if she comes to make another sudden decision that contradicts the first. She's prone to changing her mind a lot too, though more so with minor details than anything incredibly important to her. Plans are often made at the last minute possible as far as Issy's concerned.
-- OPTIMISTIC: The glass is always half-full where Issy is concerned, and she isn't afraid of admitting to trying to find the positives in a bad situation, or her belief that things will always get better. When people are down, she is compelled to cheer them up, partially because seeing people upset brings her own mood down, too. A believer in the theory that a closed door just means an opened window, Isobel tends to point out her idea of the 'bright side' to anyone in the same situation as herself, should the situation arise.
-- LOVES: thunderstorms, music, going to the movies & popcorn, her dog, biology, hugs, theme parks, cooking, sci-fi shows, taking photographs, autumn, traveling -- HATES: seafood, humid weather, not being able to sleep, having to sit still for too long, getting up late, people who use too much fake tan, history class, Twilight, not having any money, waiting around for things
-- HISTORY ! Issy was born in Seattle, the youngest child and only daughter in her family, who were living in a slightly cramped little house out in the suburbs of the city when she was born, with her two brothers already sharing a room. Her birth was the sign that they needed a bigger house, and after her mother managed to secure a job as a sales consultant in a fashion store, they managed to get one, just a little further out from the city. It needed work, sure, but it was Issy's first real home and she loved it- especially the wild and unkempt garden at the back, her own jungle to explore.
Growing up in a house with two older brothers, Issy was always a tomboy, determined to hang out with her siblings and prove she was just as capable and cool as they were; a mentality that eventually led to her trying to climb a tree on a dare, and breaking her leg when she failed the challenge. The girl picked up a lot of the boy's interests too, in video games, TV shows and comics, but never really outgrew them as her brothers appeared to do. Her mother's influence, however, was just as strong, and Issy became a pretty adept cook under her guidance.
When her two brothers had both left home, the eldest to a new home with his wife and the younger to college, Issy and her parents moved to Capeside after her father had been offered a job in the city, and the chain her mother worked for agreed to transfer her there. Starting high school in a new place wasn't something Issy was thrilled about, but her anxiety was short-lived. Popular she certainly wasn't, but she found a group of friends easily enough, and in her second year found herself in a relationship. Not a silly one as she'd had back in grade school, when it was the 'cool' thing to do, but a good, steady relationship she was completely comfortable in.
-- SAMPLE !
On her way to work, Dianna had heard the commotion a few blocks away and hurried over. It definitely wasn't the first time someone had tried to rob a bank in Metropolis, but as she made her way over, another police car had sped past, allowing her to quickly catch the conversation over the radio. 'Hostages'. That was all she needed to hear, already darting into an empty alleyway and leaping onto a fire escape, ready to improvise a short cut.
That was when she saw something speed past overhead, a blur of blue and red, and smiled to herself. She wasn't the only costumed hero around Metropolis, and the one she'd just seen was probably the most famous of all of them. She wanted to see the action for herself, and nimbly leaped along through the alley and onto a roof, then down into another empty one, that led onto the crime scene; just as something exploded.
When the hero she'd seen fly overhead emerged from the bank, she realised two things. Firstly, she'd missed most of the action already- everyone was out and it looked like the guys had been caught. Secondly, the guy wasn't exactly who she'd expected.
The criminals tried to make a break for it and flee, and Dianna couldn't help herself. As the caped hero grabbed one of them, the woman made sure no one was paying attention before she sent a small electric blast at the other three. It was intentionally weak- anything powerful would have drawn attention- but stopped them long enough so that the cops caught up with them and cuffed them. Satisfied, she turned back to the hero, watching him with the rest of the crowd that had gathered.
An unfamiliar sense hit her- the sense that the person she was looking at was not completely human. Since that power had manifested, she'd only felt it once or twice, in passing. It was common knowledge that Superman was an alien, but now she could sense a person that, like her, was a hybrid.
