Pizza always won. If there was any sort of either or situation, Pizza was always the choice to make. Tacos or Pizza? Pizza. Burgers or Pizza? Pizza. Chinese or Pizza? You guessed it, Pizza. The only thing that Caleb considered good enough to come before pizza was anything involving boobs. Man, if only there was a way to combine the two. That would make C-diz a very happy man. However girls didn’t exactly like pizza to be involved in sexy time. Maybe other food, but not pizza. It wasn’t exactly sexy like dipping chocolate.. or other things you could lick of someone. He guessed you could lick pizza sauce or something. But then that took the fun away from eating pizza. The sauce alone wasn’t all that nice. Huh, he guessed there really was no way to have pizza sex. Sad. Because guys all over the world would have been having sex twice as much if it was about pizza.
Chuckling at his own thoughts, the young man pushed open the door to his favourite place in town. Chelli’ Pizza. While it had more to offer then just pizza, no one could deny the fact that the place was most known for its delicious pizzas. In fact, Caleb had never even tried any of the pastas or other Italian noms that were on the menu. It was always the same thing at Chelli’s as far as Caleb was concerned. Super Supreme with extra pepperoni. It was his topping of choice, and if he was on a good thing then why should he change that? Caleb was like that in a lot of things in life. He clung to what he knew, because he didn’t want to risk trying new things in case he didn’t like it. Especially with food. He didn’t have the money to go wasting on new things that he may not like. Though, secretly he knew that he’d probably eat almost everything. Complain the whole time, but eat it.
Caleb frowned as he joined the end of the line. He really needed to find a pizza place that wasn’t so popular, because Chelli’s always seemed to have a line for take away. Maybe it would be easier if he just ate in? Caleb rose an eyebrow at the thought, considering the merits. At least he’d have a table to sit at while he waited, and those bread sticks. They were good. Plus if that cute waitress was working, he could try and charm her into having her break and eating with him. With a grin, he stepped out of the take out line. Moving to the left of the counter to the hostess. Winking at her as he asked for a table for one. He was led to a small booth in the back. Sliding into the booth, he smiled. Yes, this was definitely a good idea. Without even a glance to the menu, Caleb wasted no time flagging down his waitress ordering a coke and breadsticks, as well as his choice in pizza.

Erika’s breath was steady now. She’d spent more than half the morning scrimmaging with a group of her friends from the high school soccer team. They’d first warmed up with basic drills—dribbling, penalty shots, and all of that good stuff. The scrimmages were the most enjoyable of their morning practice. She got in a few good shots, and blocked a few, too. One by one, the girls dropped out until it was just Erika remaining. She loved the sport too much to simply dodge out. Even when she was the last remaining, she allowed herself to practice penalty shots on her own. It was almost twelve in the afternoon when she called it a day. She spotted her soccer coach approaching with a large grin. “Hey, why don’t you go and rest up for the game tomorrow?” She shrugged. “I was only touching up,” she pointed out. Her coach, a hefty older man, maybe in his forties, laughed. “Alright. Go on home, Erika. I expect that much effort in tomorrow’s game, alright?” Erika nodded enthusiastically, bumping the black and white ball into her hands. “Always.”
By the time she was driving out of the school parking lot, her stomach didn’t hesitate to express its need for fuel. “Alright, alright… Where to go?” She passed by several places before her eyes landed on Chelli’s Pizza. Pizza sounded absolutely delicious. The parking lot was packed full to the brim and the line didn’t look much more reassuring, but she’d be able to wait. Without much thought, she pulled into a parking space near a beat up, old sedan. The small chimes on the door rang as she pushed it open, announcing her arrival. She smiled at the small girl that looked her way. She sealed the deal with a small wave before she went off to the seating pedestal. The waitress was quick to seat her. She was placed in a nice two-people table. Of course, she felt moderately foolish eating alone. Nevertheless, she ordered a Dr. Pepper and a four cheese pizza combo. She was in the mood for a cheesy meal. She chuckled silently at her pun. The takeout line was ridiculous. You’d think someone would see the eating in line was much faster and just forfeit their spot to do so. The service eating in was spectacular anyways. Erika had worked at Chelli’s a couple months ago. She quit as it interfered with their soccer practices.
She’d just begun eating her pizza when she spotted him. Alone at a booth, he had a series of food laid out by him, too. A grin approached her face. Gathering up her soda, pizza, and a couple napkins, she ventured over to his booth. “Pigging out much?” she teased, setting her items down and scooting in opposite to him. It was nice to see a friendly face. Caleb was one of ‘Jessie’s best friends. There’d been a few interesting nights between the three. To come over and sit down wasn’t in the least bit odd to the eighteen year old. In fact, it felt totally natural. Her eyes set upon the breadsticks and her hand soon followed. “I’m just gonna… Y’know, take one,” she announced with a laugh. Her teeth sank into the still-warm dough. Chelli’s was no doubt the best kind of pizza she’d ever tasted. She knew they served other things, but she hadn’t been too satisfactory with the Italian meatball Panini she’d ordered a couple weeks ago. Let’s face it, Pizza was their specialty. By the time Erika felt a little bit guilty about just stealing one of his breadsticks, the thing was almost gone.
In her soccer short’s pocket, she felt her phone vibrate. She pulled it out really quick to find ‘Jessie’ lighting up her screen. The text read: Hey Babe. She smiled and replied with a quick greeting before she shoved the cellular device into her pocket. “So, what’s going on, stranger?” she asked curiously. She quickly took another bite of her pizza, finishing it off before she chewed down on her straw—a terrible habit of hers—and took a small sip. Between soccer that morning and now chatting it up with Caleb, she had a hunch this was going to be a very good day. She felt her phone vibrate in her pocket again, but she thought it rude to check it. “Oh, there you are!” her waitress exclaimed. “I thought you left.” Erika looked up at the girl in uniform. Heather, was it? “Nah, just chatting with this guy,” she said with another laugh. “I think I’ll hang out here.” Erika glanced back at Caleb. “If that’s alright with you?” She didn’t really want to go moping like a loner at her own table, so a large part of her wished Caleb agreed. She didn’t really think he would, but hey, she didn’t expect global warming either, and that was happening right that very instant.

If anyone wanted a little cheese with their meal, Caleb was generally the guy. He was always full of the most cheesiest jokes one could imagine. There was also the fact that some people considered his hygiene questionably enough to warrant another cheese reference, but that was better left discussed at a time when food wasn’t involved. Besides that, he resented those who called him smelly. Just because he liked fart jokes and thought burping was hilarious did not mean he didn’t bathe correctly. He wasn’t one of those metro sorts of guys though that liked to get pedicures and used hand-cream or anything wussy like that. So he supposed by someone’s standards, he wasn’t as hygienic as he could be but he showered every day which was more than some guys could say for themselves wasn’t it? Well, he wasn’t sure. Bros didn’t exactly sit around drinking tea and discussing shower habits.
His soda and the breadsticks came before the pizza. Which was fine, they usually did that so people didn’t get annoyed while waiting for their food. Giving the waitress a playful wink as a thanks, he took a long sip of his drink. A beer would have been even better because really, what was better than pizza and beer? But the coke was doing a fine job. It was his soda of choice really. That or maybe something grape flavoured. Or oh, orange. Okay, he loved all soda. Whatever though. His taste buds really hadn’t changed too much as he had grown up. Most adults seemed to grow out of all the junk food they liked as a child, but Caleb would still jump at the chance to eat smores or add skittles to his beer. He also had a child-like attitude towards a lot of vegetables. Some people never grow up, really.
It was around the time that his Pizza arrived that Caleb noticed Erika. She had just walked into Chelli’s and he’d looked over the waitress’ shoulder and had seen her. Biting the inside of his lip, the young man cleared his throat. Sometimes he wished is Erika-Rader wasn’t so dammed strong. He shouldn’t notice his best friend’s girl every time she entered a room. It was wrong. In fact everything about his feelings for her were wrong. There was nothing he could do about that though was there? He’d tried to just ignore the annoying flutter in his chest at the site of her, but he just couldn’t. She was, in his eyes, perfection. It was the sort of thing that couldn’t be ignored. As wrong as it was, as much as it broke just about ever code in the big book of broships, he had fallen for her and there was nothing to be done for it.
Trying to ignore her (while really watching the gorgeous brunette out of the corner of his eye), Caleb focused on his pizza. However that only lasted a few bites, as he found himself quickly wondering if he should go over and sit with her. The kid hated the idea of her eating alone- but was eating with her too much like a date? Caleb decided that even if it was just pizza, it could look a little sus. Instead, he settled for just watching her out of the corner of his eye while he ate. Which he was doing a lot slower than usual. He was trying to drag it out to be honest. The longer it took him to eat, the longer he could watch the angel who had just got her pizza. Shit, how did she make the simplest thing like taking a drink look so freaken attractive?
Seeing the goddess turn her head in his direction, Caleb turned his head quickly and picked up his drink. The last thing he wanted was to be caught watching her. There really wasn’t an excuse for that sort of thing. Putting his glass down, the man-child grinned as she slid in opposite him. “Hey beautiful, how are you?” He offered her a lopsided grin and a wink. He couldn’t let her know any of the anxious feelings that were associated with her, so Caleb always played it very cool when she was around. Rubbing his stomach, he let out a laugh. “When am I ever not pigging out?” He asked with a grin. He really had no issue with joking about himself. Besides, he’d do anything to get Erika to smile. Even if that meant letting her have as many bread sticks as she wanted. He watched as her phone buzzed. Having an inkling that it was Jesse, Caleb didn’t ask. It was better he didn’t know what sweet nothings they were texting each other.
Feeling strangely satisfied that she was ignoring the second text, Caleb cleared his through to answer the question, however was interrupted by the waitress. This time, he didn’t bother to offer her a smile or a wink like he normally would. His attention completely taken by Erika. Giving her a wink, Caleb grinned. “Of course I don’t mind babe.” He grinned. “I’ll feel less like a pig watching you be a pig too,” he teased with a hearty laugh. “No, seriously though, if you were a pig you’d be the hottest one in the pen, hands down.” Picking up a new piece of pizza, he took a large bite, kind of forgetting the fact she had asked him what was going on.
