-- FINLEY MATTHEW HEATON !
-- NAME: Finley Matthew Heaton -- NICKNAMES: Finn -- AGE & BIRTHDAY: twenty-four, april 18th -- BIRTH PLACE: Capside -- ORIENTATION: Straight -- OCCUPATION: Architect at Heaton INC. -- PLAYED BY: Penn Badgley
-- PERSONALITY !
-- BUILDER: One of his biggest passions in life is building. Not necessarily construction, but the building of absolutely anything. Since he was young, he’s been repairing things, ranging from radios to cupboards, and even models. Basically, he’s just fascinated by gadgets, and fixing things gives him an odd sense of accomplishment – it almost makes him feel more useful. He absolutely loves it when people ask him for help with things like this, and will throw himself head first into the project, refusing to rest until he has done what needs to be done. Unfortunately, he will get somewhat depressed if he comes across something he can’t fix (this applies to situations as well) but hey, that’s all part of it.
-- DEDICATED: When it comes to relationships, he’s never been one of those guys that likes to sleep with everyone in sight. He’ll flirt, yes, but won’t go much further than that, or get into anything physical. Despite what his reputation might suggest, he’s a one-woman-man type guy, and feels best when he’s in a relationship. He loves having someone that he can spoil, take out, share everything with… Honestly, he doesn’t understand why a lot of other people are only in it for the sex. Sure, he likes that too (what guy doesn’t?) but it isn’t that big a deal. While he’s prepared to put his pride on the line for a girl, he’s not going to make too much of a point of approaching somebody he doesn’t really know. Chances are he wouldn’t fall for someone unless he was familiar with them anyway, but even so – he wants to see that he has some kind of chance with them before he acts. Of course, like with anything, there are exceptions. This dedication also applies to friends. It doesn’t really take much to become his friend, so it doesn’t take much for him to become amazingly loyal to you. Even if you screw up, he’s terrible at holding grudges
-- SIMPLISTIC: Despite his family background, Finn is one of the most simplistic people you would ever meet. Materialistically, of course. While he doesn’t turn down the money his parents offer him, he doesn’t use it to his advantage, nor does he flaunt it in order to suggest that it makes him better than anyone else. In life, he does not want to become rich like his father or his uncle, but would rather prefer simply to find someone he loves, settle down, have children and live the simple life. He wants them to have enough to live, and to buy things that they will enjoy, but not mass amounts of money. Money, in his opinion, is the root of most evil. He is also simplistic in the things he enjoys, in that he doesn’t need to do extravagant things to be happy.
-- LOVES: reading, gadgets, tinkering, being useful, organised chaos, running, running, movies, exceeding expectations, skittles, picnics, alone time, being in a relationship, jokes, night-time strolls. -- HATES: things that can't be fixed, throwing things away, genuine arrogance, giving up, stereotypes, money, people who are too dependent on their parents, surfing, romance movies (he can tolerate them, if needed, of course), his parents, dancing, clubs, gossipers.
-- HISTORY !
Finn Heaton was born in Capeside, to parents that had some renown within the area. He was always surrounded by a large party, with his parents always holding social gatherings around the house, introducing him and showing him off to everyone in sight. Much to their dismay, it wasn't long before he grew older and developed a tendency to depart the room whenever they had company, preferring to retreat to his room to play with blocks, or something of the sort.
This tendency continued throughout his schooling life, and though he made friends he preferred to spend his time in his own company, acquiring tools and materials from his father to use in the construction of household objects. Together, they made a tree house and a dog kennel and though these objects didn't really fit in with the rest of their extravagant house, it was the one inconsistency that his parents didn't seem to mind. As his skills grew, he began to build and repair objects for his parents friends, including radios, or cupboards - he would throw himself into anything. Unfortunately, it just so happened that he preferred to spend his time this way than to study hard at school (except for maths, he liked the straightforwardness of maths) and his grades began to drop.
Suddenly, he was learning of his parents desires for him to become a lawyer - something that they had never told him about. This was something that was just never going to work for him, and so they came to an agreement. He would spend an indeterminate amount of time back in Capeside with his uncle, who would make him see reason. Once in Capeside, he met Alyson Kent through his cousin and made several friends, before heading off to university to study to become an architect. He has since returned, started working at Heaton Inc. and proposed to Aly and plans to marry her in the not-too-distant future.
-- SAMPLE !
This whole situation was well and truly ridiculous. For days (well, months really, but he chose to ignore those) Tobias Elliot had not been able to complete a single piece of work outside his classroom. Where he used to come home every night and sit at his computers, planning lessons to the last tiny detail, it was now all that he could do to pay attention to his classes during the lessons themselves. Where had his discipline gone? Where was his dedication? He was quite aware of how cliched it sounded to suggest that his dedication was all directed towards a different matter, but all his energy was going into avoiding such a thought.
So, he'd gone to fix her computer and he'd ended up on top of her on her desk. Why was it so difficult to wrap his head around that? They were both adults. It wasn't like he'd never kissed her before. Why couldn't someone find him so ridiculously attractive that they had to have him right then and there? Spur of the moment! The adrenaline! It was normal just to get carried away sometimes... Wasn't it? Alright, no, it most certainly wasn't. To pretend that it was would be a complete and utter lie. But then again, when it came to Maddie how was he supposed to know which parts were lies and which were not? Maybe he wasn't supposed to know.
But not knowing was what was killing him! What the hell had been going through her mind? Had she wanted it as much as he had? She had instigated it, yes, but with her that meant nothing. Did she realised how much it would affect him? That he would spend these days just thinking about that and that alone? Maybe she did. Maybe she wanted to cause him pain. It wouldn't be completely unheard of. He'd messed up - gotten sentimental. If he had learned anything from their relationship, he should have learned not to do that. As soon as you got sentimental, as soon as you acted like you cared - she was gone. That was how it had been last time, and apparently that was how it was doomed to be for all time, so it seemed.
And then she had to go and tell him that she was going out. Clubbing. The way that girl flirted, she was liable to get raped, or kidnapped, or drugged - possibly all of the above. And how could he be there to stop it? Oh, look at him now. This was what she wanted, wasn't it? To have him worried. Even when they weren't together, she wanted him to worry about her. To fret. Stress. Be curious about her whereabouts, her wellbeing - she wanted him in a constant state of panic. Well, hell - she was good at keeping him there. Unless of course, she didn't know about the kind of effect that she still had on him. But that was impossible. She had to know.
Well, whether or not she knew, she had certainly begun to drive him to insanity. He'd needed a drink. He'd needed to try and clear his head - and the wine at home had not been good enough. So he'd gone for whisky. He sat out, at the bar, by himself, drinking his second glass of whisky - and it was quite a sorry sight. He'd tried to reassure himself, by saying that he'd try and meet a nice girl or something when he was feeling a little less inhabited, but he was only slightly sure that that could be even remotely true. Downing another glass, he could feel her slipping from his mind, the tension easing. All he had to do was drink a little more, and she would be gone. First, however, he would have to answer the phone that was vibrating quite violently in the pocket of his trousers.
Whipping the phone out carelessly, he glanced at the caller ID, ready to answer it quickly before a certain mistake caused him to double-take. It was highly impossible, but he wasn't wrong. Of course she had to ring him when he was forget. He would never be able to forget. Resting his head on his palm, he nudged the phone against his ear. "Maddie. I am finding pleasure in whisky. Go back to making sure your clothes stay on."
