-- KATHYRN ANNE DE LUCA !
-- NAME:Kathryn Anne De Luca (Née Starling) -- NICKNAMES: Mostly goes by Kate or Katie, -- AGE & BIRTHDAY: 31, 22 June. -- BIRTH PLACE:Capeside -- ORIENTATION: Straight -- OCCUPATION & SCHOOL GRADE: Actress -- PLAYED BY: Melissa George
-- PERSONALITY !
-- Cheerful: Kate has always been a very happy person, ever since she was a kid. She would always brighten up the room with her big smile and cheerful persona. It can be annoying at times how chirpy she can be, rarely seen without a bounce in her step, and a grin on her face. She’s always been great at cheering her friends and family up, either by talking things through or by taking their mind of whatever is bothering them. In fact the only time you can be sure she’ll be in a bad mood is in the mornings before her coffee and shower, if you cross her, you’ll regret it.
-- Maternal: Often described as a natural mother, Kate is fantastic with kids and adores being a mother. Growing up it was just her and her father, so she always felt like he had to look after him after her mother left. And when she went to college, she started taking care of her roommates and her friends and boyfriend. However, Kate was never one of those girls who planned on being a mother, she just liked taking care of people. She wasn’t exactly against the idea, but it was never a priority. Her pregnancy was not planned, but not unwelcome, and she wouldn’t change her daughter for the world.
-- Romantic: Always a romantic at heart. She’s not clingy, not by any means. On the contrary she’s very independent, but she likes being in relationships, and loves being married to Marco. Likes being held in bed, having someone there to warm the freezing sheets at night, and to cook with, read poetry to on lazy Sunday mornings. Scream and shout at, at three in the morning; and then to make love to in front of the roaring fireplace. Logically, she knows relationships don’t work like that, but hey, a girl can dream.
-- Obsessive Compulsive: Kate has suffered with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) since she was a teenager. She’s tried for years to try and get over her compulsions, but her attempts have so far been unsuccessful. Some of the things she struggles with are washing things, such as dishes, and her hands, four times in a row, checking all her doors and windows are locked eight times before bed, her bedroom door even more (she’s been known to get out of bed late into the night, early in the morning just to rattle her door and make sure it’s closed, and yeah she feels bad for Marco too.) and running up and down the stairs when she’s reading scripts. She’s noticed her compulsions get worse with stress.
--Superstitious :Oh god, how she wishes she wasn’t so superstitious. She hates it, really she does. Her father has always been very superstitious and she supposes it just kind of... rubbed off on her. She tries to tell herself that it’s silly, but still every time she sees a magpie; she salutes, she can’t eat crisps from a bag opened from the bottom, all spilt salt is thrown over her shoulder, can’t go past a graveyard without holding her breath, and if you so much as think of saying ‘Macbeth’ in the theatre, expect a punch in the arm! Two if she’s in the play. She does feel embarrassed by her little superstitions, but she just can’t seem to shake them.
--Playful : There is no greater joy for Kate than playing with her husband and daughter. She’s always had a cheeky playful streak to her personality and, never one to shy away from a prank or two, she has often gotten herself into trouble more often than not. But always somehow manages to get herself out of it. Ever since she was younger she’d gone out looking for some kind of fun, teasing people (mainly men) in order to get what she wanted, whether it was sex, drugs or alcohol. As she had gotten older her playful nature has matured tamed, she still likes to party sometimes, but no way near as much as before.
-- LOVES: Classic books, poetry, old horror movies, log fires, baking, cats, wine, fries, acting, ‘dude’ and ‘dudette’, the smurfs, the paranormal, pigs, beer, lingerie, hats, her family, stockings, music. -- HATES: book to film adaptations (unless they are pristine), poo, her mother, mess, being called ma’am , something threatening her family, bugs, snobs, cheap make-up, public bathrooms, her daughter being ill, germs.
-- HISTORY !
Growing up in Capeside, Kate had a fairly average childhood. The main issue growing up happened when she was two. Her mother decided to run away with her lover of one year leaving behind a note begging them not to come after her. The note explained that she had been having an affair with a neighbour, and that they had decided to leave Capeside to start a new life together. Her father received divorce papers a few weeks later. Being so young, Kate can’t remember what happened next, and her Dad didn’t like talking about it, but she’d heard from other family members that her dad took it hard, and if he didn’t have her, or if Audrey (her mother) had taken her, no one likes to think of the road he may have taken. So it was just her and her Dad, which was fine with her. They always had a special bond; it was always ‘them against the world’ as he always used to say. The only real issue was when she was growing up and going through puberty, her poor father had no idea what to do and say. Luckily he had a sister who didn’t live too far away to help. After the disappearance of Audrey her father (Hank) had a huge issue with trusting woman and never remarried.
Friendship wise, Kate was neither popular, nor unpopular. She had a good group of friends, whom she loved but was never one of the popular crowd. They got up to things in her youth that she is not proud of, ranging from sneaking out when grounded to crash a party she wasn’t invited to, to having sex in the bathrooms at school. Of course, with her father she was a little angel, he knew of some of the things she got up to, after all, he was her father. (but not half of it, and certainly none of the sex or drugs part of her teen years just the ‘rock-and-roll’ part). Eventually the group split up for college, for which Kate moved to New York to attend.
In her last year studying Drama and Theatre, Kate met and started dating the drummer in a band, their relationship started off pretty intense and full on, and, so at the end of the academic year, it only seemed natural that Kate take a ‘gap year’ to travel with him and his band as they go on their tour. However, spending almost all their time together and literally all their time together were two very different things, and the pair found their relationship beginning to fray; they were arguing more, having sex less and the tension between them was obvious. Before too long, Kate was starting to enjoy the company of the guitarist and lead singer of the band; Marco De Luca.
It started innocent enough, a bit of harmless flirting here, a lingering look there, but before she knew what was happening they were sleeping together. She hadn’t meant for it to happen, it just... did. And, although she tried to stop, she could stay away from him. Eventually her boyfriend found out and the band fell apart, something Kate still feels guilty about today. But she and Marco stayed together and got a place in New York, the partying slowing as he started for a new band, and she was working off-Broadway and quite soon after, the couple got married. Here they stayed happy with their lives until she fell pregnant and the pair agreed that they didn’t want to raise a child in New York and decided to move back to her home town of Capeside. During her pregnancy, Kate decided to take brake from acting for a little while, working instead in a small bookstore, but she took it back up again when their little girl was three; joining a small theatre company based in Capeside. The three of them are very happy, as far as she knows, and are expecting their second child.
