[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,310,true] Bethany bit her lip. She wasn't sure why she had ran. She just, she needed the space. She needed her mother. Luca had kissed her. Sure it had lasted all of a few seconds and he had pulled away right after in apology. Still though, it had been her first kiss. And it wasn't the way she had ever though it would go. Especially not with her panic attack straight after. Moving to sit, Beth crossed her legs across from the headstone. It was dark, but the graveyard was well light. However she couldn't help shiver a little, feeling a little scared of being alone with all these graves. "Hi mom.." she whispered, biting her bottom lip, trying not to cry. "I really need your advice..."

Wyatt watched from a distance. He came here a lot. A lot more than he alluded to, at least. It was kind of his little secret despite being almost sure that his dad, and maybe his sister, were aware that was where he was going. It was hard to explain the grass stains on the seat of his pants and why the florist knew his name and where he would go every time he got angry or upset. But he never talked about it, never let the words slip passed that he missed his mother and maybe, just maybe, needed her. "She's not here," he finally plucked up the courage to say, taking a few steps forward out of the darkness. He looked like he had been sleeping, dressed in sweats and his hair a mess, but at the same time he was holding a fresh cut bouquet. "I keep talking and talking, pleading with her to answer me. But she never does." He didn't really look at Beth and his gaze seemed more fixed on the headstone, his brow furrowed like he was angry or confused. Why didn't she answer? Wasn't that what mothers were supposed to do? Sitting next to Beth, Wyatt leaned forward to arrange the new flowers in front of the grave before sitting back and wrapping an arm around his sister's shoulders. "But she was always stubborn like that. So maybe you could try. Maybe she's just listening, and smiling, and knowing that we'll figure it out on our own."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,310,true] Bethany was startled at the sound of Wyatt's voice. She hadn't really expected him to be there. She knew he visited their mother a lot, just hadn't expected that Wyatt would need her now, at the same moment she did. Looking up, she watched as he stepped in from the darkness. The youth was feeling slightly less freaked now that she had company. Eyes stayed on Wyatt as he spoke, Beth's heart twisting at his words. She never replied. Of course she never. And yet, her children kept trying with a childlike innocence that they were both too old to hang onto. Desperate for her to sooth them in that way that only a mother can. Clearing her throat, Beth leaned into Wyatt's arm. Moving her eyes back to the headstone. "Mom, what do you do when A boy kisses you?" Beth did what Wyatt had asked, she was trying to get her mother to talk to them. Tears stung her eyes, and she turned to Wyatt. "Sometimes, I don't even think she's listening."

Squeezing Beth's shoulder, Wyatt listened as she talked. It was easy to piece together what might have happened. Had Luca kissed her? It wasn't unexpected, but her reaction was kind of surprising. What was she doing here over a kiss he thought she wanted? But he didn't ask. He just listened, cutting in after she confessed that she didn't think their mother was even listening. "What do you do when you want to kiss boys, mom? What do you do when everything isn't the way you thought it would be?" Wyatt would never admit to crying, but his eyes were full of tears, pooling before they fell down his cheeks. All he wanted was one answer. One small answer and he would never have to come back here again. "She's playing a game with us, Bethy. Hide and seek. But I can't find her."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,310,true] Bethany glanced at her brother, tilting her head to the side in confusion. Was he asking about boys for Bethany's sake, or for his own? Not that it mattered. Bethany loved Wyatt regardless of who he wanted to kiss, and that wasn't going to change. Reaching out, she took his hand and gave it a warm squeeze. Letting him know that it was okay to kiss boys if that's what he meant. Shaking his head, she stood up. "She's not playing. She's not hiding from us. She's running. She ran away because she couldn't handle it." Bottom lip quivering, she tried to keep her voice from cracking. "And I'm just like her."

Eyes followed Bethany as she stood. He made no effort to join her but instead reached to take her hand once more. "You may be a lot like her, Beth, but there's a huge difference." He tugged at her hand, trying to get her to sit back down, this time on his lap. He wasn't quite ready to go despite being angry that his mom wasn't there to give them all the answers. And maybe it would be easier to take it all in if Beth stayed with him awhile. "Mom didn't have the guts to go back and deal with it. I love her, Beth, I do. But she ran away from us and can't ever come back. And you... you know the right thing to do. You're better than her in every possible way, Bethany."

"Beth, I know you, and you'd never do something like that." Wyatt wrapped his arms tightly around his little sister and buried his face in her hair. If it was one thing their mother's absence caused it was the closeness between the two of them. Most siblings fought and argued and Wyatt could hardly ever bring himself to raise his voice at his sister. It was her next question that stumped him. It was hard not knowing all the answers, not being able to tell Beth what she needed to hear. But wasn't that why they were both here in the first place? "I don't know. I don't think I'll ever know." It was right here that Wyatt could be honest. It was right here where he'd told his mother every one of his secrets, where lacking her hurt the least because it felt like something was still there. "I think all her love spilled out. And she couldn't pick it back up. And without it she just wasn't the same."

"It's about damn time," Wyatt replied, leaning back enough so that he could see her face. He always saw Beth as her younger self, five years old in sun dress, climbing into the tree house Wyatt was fiercely protecting from imaginary pirates. It was just easier that way. But he knew she wasn't a little kid anymore and he was surprised it had taken Luca this long to act. "And you ran away?" He guessed, not really needing to hear the whole story. "It could've been worse. It could have been someone you don't like. He'll forgive you, if he hasn't already."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,310,true] Frowning at Wyatt, Beth tilted her head to the side. About time? About time for what? For her to tell him? Did he already know? Luca must have told him. Bethany chewed on her bottom lip, feeling slightly uncomfortable. "Not exactly." She said with a small shrug. "It was really short, and he pulled away saying he was sorry, and that he shouldn't have done it." Looking down, she sighed. "It was really confusing Wyatt. Why would Luca kiss me anyway?" She looked up again. "I just sort of, started freaking out and had a panic attack, and he calmed me down a bit..." She paused, blushing. "Then I kind of ran away."

"You really are the most oblivious person on the planet, aren't you?" Wyatt shook his head and shoo'd his sister off his lap so he could stand. Before turning to face her he took a step forward so he could lean down and kiss the top of the headstone. Despite all the bad things he had to say about his mother leaving them, Wyatt still loved her and everyone deserved a goodbye. "You two have been dancing around each other with your feelings for what seems like forever." He extended a hand, ready to walk his sister out to the car he'd gotten here in. "You could have cartwheeled away screaming obscenities and he'll still feel the same way about you tomorrow. He likes you, Beth. You're like the only one who can't see it. Do you want to get some ice cream before we head home?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,310,true] Bethany stood up, stepping away from her brother. Eyes large in surprise and confusion. "What are you even talking about?" She watched as Wyatt said his goodbyes to their mother, still bewildered. "What feelings are you talking about?" She probed, allowing him to take her hand and lead her away from the grave. She was mad at her mother for not being there, and didn't feel like saying goodbye. She knew it was childish, but she didn't care. In many ways she was still just a child. "Ice cream is never a question, you know that." She went silent for a moment, then frowned. "You're crazy anyway. He pulled away. He didn't really want to kiss me... It was the cookies or something."

"It's not like he told me he has feelings for you or anything. It's just obvious. The same way it is with you. It's all dreamy butterflies with you two and you're the only ones that don't see it. And Beth, really, no guy ever kisses a girl unless he wants to. Apology or not. He wanted it. He probably just didn't want you to freak out. You're a little... chaste." Wyatt shrugged, swinging their arms as if he hadn't been crying five minutes prior and everything was completely okay again. "Don't think too much about it. If you like him too... tell him. Or kiss him. And stop making cookies for people who aren't me."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,310,true] Bethany pulled her hand out of her brother's, feeling an odd wave of anger wash through her. "I don't like Luca, okay? Why does everyone keep saying that?" She glared at Wyatt. It wasn't often that she ever got angry, or ever raised her voice, so it was strange that she was getting so upset now, over something like this. Closing her eyes, she shook her head and pushed passed Wyatt. "He'd never like me like that anyway okay?"
