-- MATTHEW DAMIAN BLAIR !
-- NAME: Matthew Damian Blair -- NICKNAMES: Matt, Blair -- AGE & BIRTHDAY: 27 years old, October 16th -- BIRTH PLACE: Capeside -- ORIENTATION: Heterosexual - straight -- OCCUPATION & SCHOOL GRADE: High school maths teacher, single father -- PLAYED BY: Adam Brody
-- PERSONALITY !
-- SARCASTIC: As far as Matt remembers, he has always been humorous and is very sarcastic. He enjoys and often uses irony to find any kind of humor in any kind of little events that occur around him. He's got a positive and bright demeanor but sometimes, people might find his humor slightly inappropriate and might misconceive it as ill-mannered or what not as he tends to use humor and tries to joke his way out of an uncomfortable or sticky situation and usually goofs off and laughs away all the negativity and can be overwhelmingly enthusiastic, which can often irritate people. He doesn't really like awkward or tense moments and instead fills it with odd comments and jokes and laughs off the negatives in his life and always sees things on the bright side.
-- NEUROTIC: Yes, everyone always has an...odd side to themselves. Just like Matt here. He's been known to become a little self-obsessed and neurotic, with a tendency to try and make himself the center of attention and into the spotlight whenever he can or feels like it. Despite this, Matt can also prove to be sweet natured and a genuine guy with good intentions and a good heart as well but this is often over looked by others. He's a loud and bubbly person who doesn't really know when to shut up, most of the time. However, this is more endearing rather than irritating and is quite humorous to watch him babble on.
-- GEEK: Matt is a self-proclaimed geek and loves comic books, science fiction, video games and old, classic movies. He doesn't always show this side of himself but whenever it's brought up, he's not afraid to be proud of his comic book collection. Although, he isn't a hardcore fan and doesn't do live role playing or anything too over the top. Back in high school, he was usually ignored by his peers due to his awkward nature and unusual hobbies until he started growing up and finally becoming taller and, well to put it bluntly, more handsome.
-- LOVES: his students, fulfilling his job, rain, his daughter (Brooklyn), taking photographs, jokes, hanging out with friends, people laughing at his jokes, basketball, being woken up by Brooklyn, fairy tales, reading -- HATES: his students, uptight people, judgmental people, selfishness, betrayal, being woken up by Brooklyn in the middle of the night, eating leftovers, his ex girlfriend, immaturity, Commitmentphobes, hypocrites
-- HISTORY !
Don’t let it be said that Matthew has not had an interesting life. Born to a middle class family, the Blairs, Matt was raised to be a caring and polite child and grew up to be very close to his parents. He was an odd little boy, so polite and had a light hearted demeanour and yet somehow quite lonely and closed off. It was not to say that he was a loner, more of a quiet and studious child instead. During his early years, Matt was the thoughtful and kind older brother to his two year younger little sister, Emily. Emily was quite the opposite to Matt; loud, ungrateful and selfish. But nonetheless, he loved her anyways. After all, she was his little sister. It was not until high school, however, was when Matt’s life suddenly got more interesting and drama filled.
Starting out high school, Matt was rather awkward and had unusual hobbies which left him with not many friends there. However, he was a bright child and had potential which sometimes made him the teacher’s pet, much to his dismay and to the rolling eyes in his classes. But it was Matthew who finally made a best friend instead of his parents helping him and it was rather surprising when he finally made a best friend, Sam, who was one of the most popular girls in school. It was a shock but that’s when he finally climbed up the social hierarchy in school, Sam paving the way for him to become one of the popular boys. Sam was..his first everything. He loved her from the start and how could he not? She was beautiful and kind and sweet. It was stupid of him to think that she had felt the same way, rather than only use him for a sort of trophy boy. But they even shared his, not hers, first kiss and more- resulting in a complicated situation.
Sam discovered that she was pregnant which , although shocked Matt, made him somewhat happy that they were a family or were going to be one. Little did he realise that she would bail the minute that Brooklyn was born. The Blairs supported him all the way through what was left of high school and although his little sister didn’t particularly like Matt, she did love Brooklyn anyways. However, due to Brooklyn, Matt wasn’t sure whether or not he would be able to actually go to University which crushed his dreams as well as his parents. He had been waiting for this moment for ages, to get accepted to Ivy League, but it wasn’t enough to make him put Brooklyn up for adoption. Despite this, he still applied to all the prestigious universities, getting highly exceptional grades, without the intention to actually go there. To his dismay, Matt got accepted to Dartmouth but had to reject their offer, to stay close to Brooklyn. With no qualifications to get one of his dream jobs, a baby in his arms and little money from his parents and trust fund, Matt decided to stay in Capeside and rented a little place to stay with his daughter, realising that he didn’t want to become a burden to his parents. However, things seemed to look up after Matt got accepted into his old high school to become a maths teacher, one of the many subjects he shined in, and started teaching there.
-- SAMPLE !
Love. A four letter word that means so much and yet can mean so little. To most people, it would a one in a lifetime chance to exclaim their strong emotions to each other. Romeo and Juliet, Elizabeth and Darcy. The perfect love stories have to end differently, right? But what exactly was love to Theo? Well, it was merely a stupid distraction that always happened to hit him at the wrong moments. He had not forgotten about his deep feelings for Kate and yet there was something that wasn’t there anymore. That had been eating away from him from the day he got back to St Williams but Ted would never admit it. No, he knew he still loved Kate and he knew that somewhere, she did love him back. But was it possible for their feelings to actually resurface? Four years was a long time. And anyways, was it possible to love two people at the same time? Or was it something else that he felt for Kate, or something else for…Demi? But after what had happened yesterday, he knew that neither women would actually dare to talk to him like they had been before. The day he left Kate was surprisingly easy. It sounded terrible and he obviously wouldn’t say that aloud but for Theo, the decision he made seemed clear for a while. Of course, now he realised that perhaps it wasn’t the best choice but there was something about chasing his own dreams that appealed to him. He was just a teenager, of course he was easily swayed let alone by his own parents! His dreams of going to Ivy League were at first crushed by the thought of having a child at eighteen years old and even though his love for Kate was strong, he had been dreaming of college for his whole life. Whether or not it was his parents that planted that particular dream into his head didn’t matter because he wanted to become more, for himself if not for his unborn child. Though it doesn’t seem that way, he thought that going to college was the best option so he could actually get a steady job to support his family. Little did he know that after he left, all contacts between Kate and him were lost. It was terrifying, the thought of going to college alone. But he wasn’t alone, his parents had told him that he would be bringing a family friend’s daughter on his ride to Ivy League. Obviously, at first he was hesitant. A family friend’s daughter? Not another of those stuck up princesses. But Demi was different and they were friends. To her.
Theo had been in his car for the past ten minutes, staring at the apartment. It was…disgusting. How could his daughter live in something like that? He gathered his thoughts of love and shoved them to the back of his mind before stepping out onto the pavement. But was it actually possible to love two people at the same time? Ted didn’t have a clue what love was. After all, he had only loved one person before and that story was long gone. Maybe he did love his best friend and his ex-girlfriend but there is always that one person he loved a little bit more. But who was it? Dropping the mental battle in his head, Theo pressed the doorbell, awaiting for the reply. He had dressed up normally, a t-shirt and jeans, but had brought a couple things. Not to bribe Kate, no, just some things he wanted to leave with them; a single white rose and an envelope. The flower? Well, it was just a territorial greeting and acknowledgement but the envelope was for Maddie, at least until she could read it. It wasn’t long and didn’t explain all the details of how he met Kate or how they fell in love or any gushy lovey dovey things. It was simply to tell her that although he was never there for her, and might not be let near her anymore, he loved her and will always support her. What else could you say to your daughter, whom you don’t know?
”Hi. Kate.” Theo grinned, searching her face for some kind of message or emotion. Nothing. She was already dressed up for her next job, he knew. That meant that he didn’t have much time- apparently, he wasn’t allowed to see Maddie without Kate around. He scoffed. Because he’d try and get her to join “the dark side” wouldn’t he? Smile slipping from his face, Ted stepped into the apartment and looked for his daughter. ”I…got you this.” Ted held out the white flower as a sign of peace. He kept the envelope in his pocket, afraid that she wouldn’t let him give it to his daughter so she would understand his absence in the future.
